It’s not like Hasbro needed to do much more to enhance The Black Series [Return Of The Jedi 40] Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) 6-inch figure. The original release from 2018 was nearly perfect as is. But they decided to add the figure to their celebratory assortment. They must have some measurement that said this character needed re-release in the line. And with further minor paint operation enhancements, they’ve developed a definitive release of the Rebel Alliance leader based on his skiff guard disguise with alias Tamtel Skreej. The subtly new and improved Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) 6-inch figure doesn’t strike us as a necessary release. Still, we always appreciate an excellent action figure from the past on current store shelves. No matter the assessment of Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard), generally speaking, The Return Of The Jedi 40th Anniversary toy line isn’t living up to its full potential. Many other characters deserve a re-release in the line before the ones Hasbro chooses. Where is Luke Skywalker in the first assortment? The answer is “nowhere.” And that is a sad sentiment. Hasbro only needs to find a better balance.

Hasbro nailed the 2018 TBS [P3] Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) (76) figure right out of the gate. The head sculpt and Photo Real deco were disconcertingly fantastic. Now The Black Series [ROTJ40] version is a tad better. You’ll feel like you acquired a reduced-sized Billy Dee Williams for your Star Wars collection. Hasbro proved to the Star Wars collecting community what seemingly miraculous techniques they can achieve on the Star Wars figures they produce with the Photo Real deco application. If you thought the regular Lando Calrissian (38) figure looked good, get ready because Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) might be one of Hasbro’s most outstanding achievements in the 6-inch scale. Sure, it has outdated articulation by today’s standards, but overall, there is no denying how lovely this figure is. Aside from a perceived lankiness issue and the omission of the skiff guard blaster, Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) is a near-perfect 6-inch figure. For this reason, we understand why Hasbro felt it should be re-released. Hasbro’s 6-inch line was hit or miss for years, but now their figures are consistent, and they’re producing little masterpieces. It’s the assortments that need work.

We have to nitpick. Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) has a lower body that is too elongated. The legs stand out prominently; if you compare them with the rest of the body, we’re confident you’ll see they are too long. It creates an effect that is difficult to unsee. Perhaps this detail is not the end of the world. Heck, some collectors won’t see the issue at all. But we believe the length of the action figure’s legs in The Black Series 6” line has been a longstanding issue. Thankfully, the rest of Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) is excellent. The figure is lean and tall, and the stature mirrors what we see in Return of The Jedi. Hasbro did a fantastic job of recreating the armor. Everything is accurately detailed and colored to the precise shade of the costume Billy Dee Williams wore in the film. Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) comes with two accessories, but we would have loved to see Hasbro include the skiff guard blaster that its 3.75-inch counterparts had in the past. Instead, the figure only comes with a vibro-ax and a removable helmet. The figure poses beautifully in action poses, and the articulation is effortless. If you missed this figure from the past, you should grab this one without question.
