Unbelievable! TRU changes its promotion like we change our underwear. Now the Ewok and Yavin Pilot Packs are Buy One Get One 50% off! Unreal! Of course the Ewok set is out of stock, but keep checking. Special thanks to JTA moderator The_Question for the tip!

More eBay Deals From A Different Seller

Posted by Paul | August 31, 2012 at 06:23 AM ET |

eBay seller tunghori also has restocked some older figures which may be of interest to you and excellent prices. (Please read descriptions carefully so you know what's included - most figures are complete, but just make sure.) Female The Clone Wars characters like Padmé Amidala and Ahsoka Tano are always great to have around. What about the TARGET exclusive K-3PO Build A Droid figure that has yet to be rereleased? Oh, and let's not forget about the very hard to find Chewbacca repaint from the TARGET exclusive Special Action Figure Set. Even the metallic 4-LOM (Zuckuss) figure is under $4! You can get the repainted 2010 Saga Legends Bossk for cheap also. And lastly, you know how hard it was to find the Joe Johnston Concept Snowtrooper. Now get it loose for a very reasonable price! And there's more too! Check it all out!

Review: Super Battle Droid - TLC - Saga Legends (SL 10)

Posted by Paul | August 31, 2012 at 12:15 AM ET |

Did you know that 2008's The Legacy Collection Saga Legends Super Battle Droid is a new figure? It is. And most passed on it thinking it was a straight repack. The travesty about this is that it remains the best Super Battle Droid sculpt to date - even better than The Vintage Collection version. If you don't know about this figure, then catch up with it in our Research Droids Reviews database! Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! There Are Still Some Great eBay Deals For Loose Figures!

Posted by Paul | August 30, 2012 at 10:53 PM ET |

eBay seller HobbyStock has some pretty awesome deals for some obscure Star Wars action figures. Rare (because they're pack-in) figures are available for very reasonable prices and older figures like Emperor's Shadow Guard and Leektar are available for pennies on the dollar. And you can even get a stack of the original TVC Sandtrooper figures for a steal, especially now that the figure has all but disappeared. This and more awaits you! Click any image below to be taken to that auction or click HERE for their Star Wars store!

To our dedicated readers: If I post this article (which I just did), will you stop emailing me to see side by side comparisons of the alternate outfits of the Ewoks from the Toys R Us exclusive? You know, I have to pay my mortgage in two days and I can't spend it all on Star Wars toys! Anyway, I purchased another set today to add four additional photos to our Research Droids Reviews on the awesome Ewok Pack that shows this very comparison (they're the last four photos in the gallery)! Enjoy! If you don't enjoy it, then don't tell me. Oh, by the way, since it's all about Ewoks right now, take a moment and type the word "Ewoks" in the search bar in our RDR index and catch up on all the other Ewoks made by Hasbro and check out those reviews too.

Review: Destroy Malevolence - TCW [SOTDS] - The Clone Wars DVD Set

Posted by Paul | August 27, 2012 at 07:36 AM ET |

We finish up our look at three The Clone Wars DVD Sets based on the wonderful Malevolence story arc. We conclude with Destroy Malevolence. It's ready to view in our Research Droids Reviews right now! Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you'd like to see something that we didn't cover yet.

Destroy Malevolence

You read the first part to our Q&A, here is the MUCH LONGER second part! Click through to read it all. But before you do, I just want to publicly say thanks to Derryl DePriest (and Bryan too) for spending hours with JTA answering all of our questions. (One night they even stayed 2 hours after the day officially ended.) They wanted to know ALL feedback our readers had so we read them off all of the questions no matter how positive or how negative they were. And they did their best to answer them all. I would like to let our readers know that Derryl is passionate about the Star Wars line and he's done more than you know to protect it. The collector-focused line could have been gone already, but he's fought to keep it alive. It's a bad time for the line in general still and it's honestly time to accept that certain parts of it are designed without collectors in mind, in an effort to bring in revenue to support the line. In this day and age we don't have anywhere near as many collectors and chronic distributions issues that are out of Hasbro's control are tearing it down further. We offered some suggestions which Hasbro seemed to appreciate and they even jotted them down in their notepads, so hopefully something good can come out of our heart to heart discussion. We know bring you to the final part of JTA's Q&A with Hasbro. Enjoy! Oh, and we have two new figures that Hasbro let slip are forthcoming. You know what to do!

Review: Battle Droid - ROTS - III 17

Posted by Paul | August 22, 2012 at 12:11 AM ET |

Here is a surprisingly excellent Battle Droid action figure from the Revenge Of The Sith line, although the sculpt actually dates back to 2002 . It's not really functional as an action figure, but it sure looks fantastic on its display stand! See this and more in our Research Droids Reviews today! Important CurtoBurns Press Release - Change Of Location!

Posted by Paul | August 21, 2012 at 11:10 PM ET |

Going into the final arrangements for set-up earlier today, we realized we had a potential problem with the placement of the CurtoBurns Collectors Cast. There wasn’t enough room for an audience while people were moving through the Rancho Obi-Wan Experience exhibit. So, the CurtoBurns Collectors Cast now has its own space at an expanded booth #450, ‘The Force United’. Steve Sansweet will be dropping by to record with James Burns and Dan Curto during the show (times for all sessions will be posted at the booth.) CurtoBurns Collectors Cast also have a special Collectors Cast postcard to give away along with a badge/button and other giveaways too (while supplies last).

Unbelievable Sail Barge Custom!

Click through to check them out! Thanks to JTA reader Manny M. for passing them along to us!

Review: Obi-Wan Kenobi - ROTS - III 27

Posted by Paul | August 20, 2012 at 08:16 AM ET |

There are some figures that create more confusion than answer questions (or reveal plot). The Obi-Wan Kenobi figure with "Jedi Kick!" action feature is one of these. Posted by Paul | August 20, 2012 at 08:11 AM ET |

Five Star Wars collecting clubs along with the Celebration VI Collecting Track will mark Celebration VI by giving away sections of an exclusive 6-piece patch set. When assembled, the pieces form a Clone Wars themed movie poster. The poster features characters from all six movies of the Star Wars saga along with characters from The Clone Wars TV series. The clubs participating in this project are the Washington DC Area Star Wars Collecting Club (DCSWCC), the Ohio Star Wars Collectors Club (OSWCC), the Pennsylvania Star Wars Collecting Society (PSWCS), the Star Wars Grand Florida Alliance (SWGFA), the Seattle Area Lucasfilm Artifact Collectors Club (SARLACC) and the Celebration VI Collecting Track. Lead designer Bill Cable of PSWCS conceived the idea for the patch, and completed the design with substantial assistance from leaders of the participating groups. Click through for more!

Review: Yoda - ROTS - III 3

Posted by Paul | August 19, 2012 at 12:23 AM ET |

The Yoda (III 3) figure in the Revenge Of The Sith line was a bit of a surprise. Hasbro cleverly relegated the action features to the accessory instead of the figure and Yoda doesn't look half bad as a result. In fact, Hasbro used this sculpt multiple times since its original release in 2005! Check out why you could do worse in our Research Droids Reviews today! Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! An Amazing Find And A Thought Or Two For Hasbro

Posted by Paul | August 18, 2012 at 01:46 PM ET |

I hope you're sitting down while reading this because I nearly collapsed in the aisle. I actually found the Ahsoka (SCUBA Gear) wave of The Clone Wars line 12:30 PM on the dot at a 24 hour Walmart today. The Force was with me. This is an unbelievable find because this particular area has been overrun with Movie Heroes and the TPM wave of The Vintage Collection. Click through for more.

The Focus On This Line In Unbelievable

Posted by Paul | August 18, 2012 at 01:27 PM ET |

While out looking for new Star Wars figures today, I saw this at a Walmart and just had to shake my head in disbelief. I won't editorialize here because I know these serve a purpose, but I can't help but be partially deflated that so much emphasis is being placed on this line, especially when by comparison it's so incredibly difficult to find figures from the basic figure lines.

Review: Mace Windu - ROTS - III 10

Posted by Paul | August 18, 2012 at 12:02 AM ET |

We couldn't wait to see what kind of damage Mace Windu would do in Episode III, especially after he annihilated Jango Fett at the Battle of Geonosis. But it ended up that he was the one who would fail all thanks to a Judas Kiss (of sorts) in Revenge Of The Sith. This is a rather diappointing figure folks. Check it out in detail in our Research Droids Reviews right now! Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you'd like to see something that we didn't cover yet.

Is The Clone Wars Line Returning With A Vengeance?

Posted by Paul | August 17, 2012 at 10:16 AM ET |

The latest Entertainment Earth email/catalogue has arrived and it's chock full of all-new The Clone Wars role-playing stuff. This caught our attention and now we're wondering why would Hasbro create so many new role-playing toys without the support of a vehicle and basic figure line. Or, does this mean we're in for some pleasant information that The Clone Wars may be coming back to have a bigger presence in the toy line? New stuff announced includes Plo Koon's saber, Ahsoka's saber, Cad Bane's Blasters, Pre Vizsla's Blasters, Pre Vizsla's Dark Saber and more. With the recent announcement at Sandtroopers.com of the 104th Wolfpack Ultimate Gift Set, we just can't help to think that there may be a glimmer of sunshine for fans of The Clone Wars. Special thanks to JTA reader Josh M. for the head's up on this. Weigh in on your thoughts in our comments please! Do you think this is a Holiday 2012 thing only.... or is it more than that?!

UPDATE: JTA reader Andrew J. bursts our bubble and writes in to let us know that these items aren't manufactured by Hasbro. Thank you Andrew! Oh well! :(

Review: General Grievous - ROTS - III 36

We Need Your Questions To Ask Hasbro At Celebration VI!!!

Posted by Paul | August 15, 2012 at 11:34 PM ET |

OK folks! It's that time again. JTA will be in attendance at CVI this year and we've received an invitation to have 10 minutes of Hasbro's attention and ask them questions to get some answers. We did this at Toy Fair if you recall. Your participation was unprecedented and we got to ask them some great questions and actually received some great answers. So, for CVI, please click through and post your questions in our comments below. This is where we want to house them so others can read them and not repeat any. Please don't ask "will you make x action figure". We won't bother asking Hasbro those questions. We will however follow up on the rumor mill figures, so if you have any specifics you'd like an update to, please feel free to ask. Please be kind and respectful. We do plan to ask Hasbro some tough questions, so please think of some great ones to accompany ours! Questions must be posted by Monday at midnight. After that we are closing the thread. We will post a reminder or two, but you might as well get started now! Thank you!

We would like to know how widespread this is, so if you happen to be going to Sears in the near future please snap a photo for us to post! Thank you!

Review: Clone Commander Wolffe - SW [TPM 3D] - CW17

Posted by Paul | August 14, 2012 at 12:00 AM ET |

Thank God for Kohl's! Otherwise who knows how long it would have been before we would be able to look at Clone Commander Wolffe in his phase II armor. He's all ready to be ogled in our Research Droids Reviews right now! Just like Ahsoka (SCUBA Gear), this figure doesn't stand a chance of getting embraced by collectors due to its very limited range of movement. Hopefully you will overlook this setback because this is a very nice figure regardless. Review: Ahsoka (SCUBA Gear) - SW [TPM 3D] - CW15

Posted by Paul | August 13, 2012 at 12:05 AM ET |

Thank God for Kohl's! Otherwise who knows how long it would have been before we would be able to look at Ahsoka (SCUBA Gear) in our Research Droids Reviews database? This figure doesn't stand a chance getting embraced by collectors due to its very limited 7 points of articulation. What's a shame is that she's a truly well designed figure (we'll hold off using "action" for this toy). Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! While Out Looking For The Scout Walker, Look For This Too!

Posted by Paul | August 12, 2012 at 12:52 PM ET |

Collectors, we need your attention! Kmart is getting The Vintage Collection wave 14. We found this wave at 4 of our local 6 Kmart stores, so it seems that it's safe to believe that more are getting them than not. On the pegs were hanging Starkiller, Darth Vader, Nikto Guard, Tarkin, Shae Vizla and Odd Ball (Clone Pilot). While out looking for the Scout Walker (AT-ST), you might want to look a bit higher at the pegs to see if your local store also stocked these TVC figures.

Posted by Paul | August 11, 2012 at 06:27 AM ET |

In 2005, purple holographic figures were all the rage. And then the rage quickly got snuffed out by apathy. Here is another one released in the Revenge Of The Sith line, Holographic Emperor Palpatine. It's boring and monochromatic and it's the focus of our Research Droids Reviews today. Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you'd like to see something that we didn't cover yet.

Underground Collecting Goes Public at the Celebration VI Swap Meet

Posted by Chuck | August 09, 2012 at 11:37 AM ET |

At Star Wars Celebration some of the hottest, hard to find collectibles aren't on the show floor but in the suitcase of your fellow fan.  Hotel sales have long been an after-hours activity of the Star Wars collector looking to find that rare vintage figure, a unique international item, or other prize Star Wars items.

This year at Star Wars Celebration VI the hotel sales get opened up to you!  Friday night after the con, the Star Wars Collectors' Swap Meet will be held at 6:30 pm in the new Star Wars Collectors' Social Area.  Bring some collectibles that you are willing to part with and see items from other Star Wars collections!  Make a trade, work a deal, and find that item that has eluded you for so long!

The Star Wars Collectors' Social Area is in room W304.  Set-up begins at 5pm for those bringing collectibles to sell or trade.  Selling is limited to just a handful of items per person though (what you can carry), so collectors should plan accordingly.

Review: Utapau Shadow Trooper - ROTS - TARGET Exclusive

Posted by Paul | August 09, 2012 at 12:15 AM ET |

Another cool Hasbro concept came to life with 2005's ROTS TARGET exclusive Utapau Shadow Trooper. It was so popular that other licensees years after the fact would make collectibles based on the design too. Learn about its origins in Research Droids Reviews today. Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you'd like to see something that we didn't cover yet.

Utapau Shadow Trooper

I was going to use a quote from Spaceballs in the title, but I decided against it in fear of Chuck firing me. (Use your movie trivia bank here.) You saw our previous report directing you to Hasbro.com and the unbelievable focus they're giving Fighter Pods. And now our readers are providing proof after proof that the Star Wars line has gone to the Fighter Pods. This is devastating news folks. It will only get worse from here. You know, my buddy Dan Curto hinted around at this very thing and I didn't want to believe it (that there would be a shift away from action figures). But it looks like basic figures in general are taking a back seat on store shelves. Click through to see the latest Walmart Plan-O-Gram courtesy of JTA reader Flamingtoilet. We should probably call it a No-Plan-O-Gram instead.

We Have Egg On Our Face And We Are Wiping It Off With This Post

Posted by Paul | August 07, 2012 at 11:25 PM ET |

We goofed! We reported in our Sandtrooper (VC112) RDR that the figure comes with an all-new head sculpt, but that isn't the case at all. While the figure does include an amazing all-new BlasTech E-11, an all-new head sculpt is not one of his enhancements. We just found our VC14 Sandtrooper today and were able to compare it side by side and were mortified with the analysis. We apologize for the error. (Now we just need a wise quip or two from our friends at BanthaSkull.com to finalize this public embarrassment.) We jest. Maybe if our readers didn't attack that review with so much traffic we could have just updated it behind the scenes, but we feel we have misled too many of you not to make this public service announcement. Again, please forgive the misstep here.

Bastila Shan Wave Hits HomeSense In Canada! Could USA Be Next?!

Posted by Paul | August 06, 2012 at 01:57 PM ET |

Well, we had a "good laugh" (more like frustrated sarcasm) about this in the final quarter of 2011; that the hard to find figures would be hitting discount chains soon enough. And it's happened! Although HomeSense is a Canadian retailer, it's the same company as TJMaxx (as well as Marshalls and HomeGoods) in the USA. Our advice? Start stalking TJMaxx if you want some rare figures from The Vintage Collection because it looks as if that's who's got them now. Click through to see what JTA Canadian reader Jamie D. has found in this unbelievably believable turn of events!

Review: Clone Trooper Lieutenant - TVC - VC109

Posted by Paul | August 06, 2012 at 12:25 AM ET |

The Vintage Collection's Clone Trooper Lieutenant is a figure you should have expected Hasbro to do. They need to amortize that VC45 sculpt, and this figure is only the beginning. It's pretty good, but it isn't perfect. See why in our Research Droids Reviews right now. Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Review: Shock Trooper - TVC - VC110

Posted by Paul | August 05, 2012 at 12:09 AM ET |

The Vintage Collection's Shock Trooper is a controversial figure from wave 15. Many collectors aren't ready to accept the streamlined body type as more accurate yet, and let's not forget about that oversized bucket. See our analysis of the figure in our Research Droids Reviews today and let us know if you agree or disagree with our assessment. Review: [Best] Sandtrooper [Ever] - TVC - VC112

Posted by Paul | August 04, 2012 at 08:24 AM ET |

Best.... Sandtrooper.... Ever!!! We have received a ton of Tatooine Stormtroopers in our lifetime, so it might be hard for you to believe that Hasbro has topped them all with The Vintage Collection's Sandtrooper squad leader. A stunning figure complete with a gorgeous paint job, an even better card back and an all-new articulated blaster knocks this figure out of the park! You're going to want armies and armies of him! See why we can't stop raving about the Sandtrooper in our Research Droids Reviews right now!!! Posted by Paul | August 03, 2012 at 12:05 AM ET |

A new update to Darth Vader (Emperor's Wrath) has been released and it's the final figure in The Vintage Collection (even though it's not from the final wave). Darth Vader is a tremendous update to the classic Power Of The Jedi/The Saga Collection figure, but perhaps the best part about it is its packaging! Review: Jar Jar Binks - TVC - VC108

Posted by Paul | August 02, 2012 at 12:20 AM ET |

A long-awaited update to an Episode I figure has finally been released. It's further from perfect than we'd prefer, but it's a solid effort nonetheless in some respects. Unfortunately, you might be inclined to prefer a "less superior" version of Jar Jar Binks (i.e. Movie Heroes version) than this The Vintage Collection version. Oh, cruel irony! What will you decide?
