Visual Guide Update - Luke Skywalker (Endor Capture) - TVC

Posted by Paul | December 31, 2011 at 08:04 PM ET |

Then when you're done, see more photography and collector notes in our Research Droids Reviews for even further analysis!

Review: Concept Obi-Wan And Yoda - TAC - Star Wars Shop Exclusive

Posted by Paul | December 13, 2011 at 01:25 AM ET |

We return to more Ralph McQuarrie Signature Series figures, this time another exclusive duo, but exclusive to the now defunct StarWarsShop.com. Research Droids Reviews finds this set overall very interesting and wonders when we'll see the nest concept art figure in the basic figure line. Please feel free to leave your own comments in our new Disqus comments section about this item and as always, please vote in our poll! Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?!

Posted by Paul | December 12, 2011 at 11:45 AM ET |

Special thanks to JTA reader Drew S. for alerting us to this rather pious blog post about how Yarna is the least desirable action figure of all time. We disagree! She was mass-produced for the 2008 line launch and shouldn't have been, but that's what happens when you need one of each figure for the Build A Droid pack-in premiums.

Review: AT-RT Walker With ARF Trooper - TCW - Class 1

Posted by Paul | December 12, 2011 at 01:13 AM ET |

So you want Captain Keeli, huh? Well you're not getting him here in this set. It's the general consensus of collectors that Hasbro picked the worst time possible to put The Clone Wars on the back burner especially since so many movie collectors are warming up to it. And Research Droids Reviews considers why it's so important to get the clone captains out as soon as possible. Please feel free to leave your own comments in our new Disqus comments section about this item and as always, please vote in our poll! Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Posted by Paul | December 09, 2011 at 06:24 AM ET |

A Distilled Look At Wave 8/9 Case Assortments For Revenge Of The Jedi

Are you royally confused about the Revenge Of The Jedi/Return Of The Jedi promotion? We were until we buckled down and mapped out just what is exactly in each case. The listed case assortments on Entertainment Earth are incorrect, and since everyone refers to them as a guide, people are becoming more and more confused. Click through to see a complete list of how you can acquire every last figure in this chase promotion. You may be surprised and learn things you didn't know, like you need to come across three (3) different case assortments to grab them all.... amongst other things.

Review: Concept Luke Skywalker - TAC - CIV Exclusive

Posted by Paul | December 08, 2011 at 01:25 AM ET |

The Ralph McQuarrie painting depicting Luke Skywalker battling Darth Vader in a lightsaber duel is the symbol of his body of work. Hasbro did it justice as an action figure and released it as a Celebration IV exclusive. Check out why you should own it in our Research Droids Reviews today. Please feel free to leave your own comments in our new Disqus comments section about this item and as always, please vote in our poll! Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! A Jedi Seeks Not Revenge, But Don't Expect Collectors To Abide By This!

Posted by Paul | December 08, 2011 at 12:03 AM ET |

It's time to seek Revenge! Wave 8 of The Vintage Collection has officially been spotted at Kmart, Walmart, TARGET and Toys R Us by us and our readers. Click through to check out what we've personally found out in the wild and what you should expect to find too. (Personally, we have found most of our wave 8 at Kmart.) You can read about this wave right now in our Research Droids Reviews too right HERE!

UPDATE: Just this morning at Walmart in Philly I found four (4) cases of wave 8 with the Revenge Of The Jedi Boba Fett and Return Of The Jedi Princess Leia (Slave Outfit). This is the first time in about three months this Walmart location received anything new. It may just be worth your while to head out to your local Wally World right now. This location never received wave 9, so I thought all hope was lost.

If You Must Know, This Is And Will Remain The Greatest Version Of R2-R9

Posted by Paul | December 07, 2011 at 11:51 PM ET |

One of the nicest surprises collectors ever received from Hasbro was the update to the pack-in figure that originally came in the Naboo Royal Royal Starship, updated for release in the Commemorative Tin collections. That original 1999 pack-in figure was simply called "Red R2 Unit" on the packaging, but the 2006 TAC Commemorative Tin update got a real name: R2-R9. This astromech droid is coming again in the Walmart exclusive "Discover The Force" promotion, but it will be the third unique sculpt of this droid because it's utilizing the Build A Droid sculpt. The version in this eBay post is unequivocally the best version (based on the 2004 VOTC R2-D2 sculpt), and we highly recommend getting it for your collection before it's gone forever. (It's deemed rare by the seller - we tend to agree with him.)

Review: Sandtrooper (Desert Sands Detachment) - Militaries Of Star Wars

Posted by Paul | December 07, 2011 at 01:15 AM ET |

It's.... another Sandtrooper? Yup, but this one is cool because Sideshow pays homage to a Hasbro goof, the gray-pauldron Sandtrooper is now realized in 1:6 scale. (Thankfully Sideshow also includes an additional - and correct- sergeant's pauldron to make all things right!) See why you must have this version in our Research Droids Reviews because so far this one may just be the best! A Correction Of A Correction Of An Error!

Posted by Paul | December 06, 2011 at 04:11 PM ET |

We have a correction on a correction. Is this getting confusing for you? JTA Facebook friend Ruari corrected us on our Kamino ARF Trooper correction that was supposed to clarify our original mistake on the proper reference material for the Kamino ARF Trooper. The first correction shows the Kamino ARF Trooper with the red stripe going down only half the arm. This is obviously not how the Hasbro figure is. It ends up that the Kamino ARF Trooper is actually our very first Season 4 action figure from The Clone Wars line. The version with the red stripe going all the way down the arm can be seen in Season 4 Episode 5: Mercy Mission. Click through to see this character up close. It's interesting that there are three unique ARF Troopers all with the same design on their helmets. Shh. Hopefully Hasbro won't notice. Our Research Droids Review has been corrected too.

Review: Figrin D'an - Scum & Villainy - 1:6 Scale Figures

Posted by Paul | December 06, 2011 at 01:10 AM ET |

It took a while for Sideshow Collectibles to buckle down and release a healthy dose of 1:6 scale action figures from their Scum & Villainy collection. But they're coming fast and furious now and Research Droids Reviews checks out one of many Bith musicians we'll be receiving in this line. This time it's the leader of the band, Figrin D'an. eBay Flashback: Sideshow Collectibles Imperial Stormtrooper

Posted by Chuck | December 05, 2011 at 04:16 PM ET |

For the most part the Sideshow Collectibles 1:6 Scale Figures hold their aftermarket value quite well. While the Regular Editions of the Sideshow figures can frequently be found under retail, the exclusive versions can be costly if you wait! Take a look at how one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars Universe has faired in the aftermark: The 2009 Imperial Stormtrooper! Both versions are sold out so if you waited to purchase this one, it will set you back a bit in the aftermarket. Find out what yours is worth! And, be sure to read our full review on this awesome figure in our Research Droids Review!

Review: Clone Trooper Squad - LC - Kmart Exclusive

Posted by Paul | December 05, 2011 at 09:33 AM ET |

Sometimes exclusives can be confusing. Research Droids Reviews wonders why Hasbro chooses to reissue figures and then not release all-new figures. The Clone Trooper Squad set is good, but do you really need it? Please feel free to leave your own comments in our new Disqus comments section about this item and as always, please vote in our poll! eBay Flashback: ARC Troopers Battle Packs Set

Posted by Paul | December 03, 2011 at 02:24 PM ET |

Hasbro goofed terribly when it came to The Clone Wars ARC Troopers Battle Packs set. Not even close to meeting demand, it commands more money than all of us combined have to splurge on a toy. Thankfully, Hasbro is finding new ways to get out some of the figures again. Clone Commander Colt has been repainted and released as a basic figure and Captain Rex has just been released in the Ultimate Clone Wars Gift Set Walmart exclusive. It remains to be seen if the other two figures in this set will be rereleased, but keep an eye on THIS LINK to see if you can score this set for as much more reasonable price than $200!
