Posted by Paul | October 01, 2011 at 12:15 AM ET |

R2-USB2 Variation! Do You Believe It?!

Posted by Paul | September 30, 2011 at 12:43 PM ET |

It seems that not even action figure-sized USB drives are exempt from variations! Obviously hanging next to the Hasbro action figures in Toys R Us is taking its toll! JTA reader Arthur Gamboa kindly passes along an image showing a comparison shot of the original "gray" R2-USB2 and now the revised clean and white R2-USB2. Click through to check it out!

Star Wars Unleashed RETURNS (In Calendar Form)!

Posted by Paul | September 30, 2011 at 12:37 PM ET |

Whether you're new to collecting or not, you've probably heard of the fan-favorite 7" Unleashed line from Hasbro. This popular line didn't last as long as many had hope for unfortunately, but it had a great run while it was active. Fans for years have requested Hasbro to release the artwork in some way as it captures our most beloved Star Wars heroes and villains in very striking poses. Well, an oversized calendar has just been released and our friends at Rebelscum.com have the full scoop! Click through to check it out!

2 Day TRU Star Wars Basic Figure Sale!

Posted by Paul | September 30, 2011 at 12:36 PM ET |

TODAY and TOMORROW only, Toys R Us has their basic Star Wars action figures on sale for 2 for $12.99. It's not the greatest deal unless your getting figures from The Vintage Collection, and of course your store has to even have new figures to make this worthwhile, but check your local TRU for more!

Review: Sandtrooper - TSC - SAGA 037

Posted by Paul | September 30, 2011 at 12:05 AM ET |

In 2006 we probably didn't think we'd be sick to death of Sandtrooper action figures a short half decade later, but most of us were indeed affected this way. The Saga Collection brought us a fairly decent Sandtrooper action figure but Research Droids Reviews points out that it could be slightly improved. We welcome back David Delgado from EchoBaseNews.com as he helps us finish up wave 5 of The Saga Collection today. Please feel free to leave your own comments in our new Disqus comments section about this item and as always, please vote in our poll! Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Universal But "Unofficial" 2011 Hasbro Fans' Choice Poll Results

Posted by Paul | September 29, 2011 at 03:00 PM ET |

JediDefender.com has completed what they're hailing as an unscientific study of what figures should likely make the top 20 list for the 2011 Hasbro Fans' Choice Poll. This is based on the final compiled results of participating Star Wars fan sites and what they listed as their own top 10. While some sites have yet to report their results, take a gander at what looks to be a great educated guess of the running champions that will make the final cut.

Review: Darth Vader - TSC - SAGA 038

Posted by Paul | September 29, 2011 at 12:10 AM ET |

Did you know that in 2006 Hasbro snuck one of the all-new accessories from the 2003 cancelled Yavin Hangar Accessory Set TARGET exclusive into the Darth Vader (SAGA 038) basic figure? Yup, it's true and to date it's the only place you can get it. Research Droids Reviews points out however that Hasbro found a new purpose for it. This time utilized as debris Darth Vader uses to throw at Luke Skywalker on Bespin.... it fits like a glove in the basic figure line. Another example of how a figure's accessories are more important than the figure itself, Darth Vader (SAGA 038) is definitely an action figure you should own for that reason alone. It's the second Darth Vader action figure from The Empire Strikes Back in 2006 and this is the second (and better) one without a removable helmet dome. Two Important Toys R Us Updates

Posted by Paul | September 28, 2011 at 08:33 PM ET |

You saw our previous store report of what The Clone Wars waves are hitting retail HERE. But JTA readers Bailey (from Tennesee) and Mike T. (Southwest Florida) just emailed us to let us know that now the [Cold Weather] Plo Koon wave has also hit Toys R Us now in their areas. It's taking a long time, but it seems everything will inevitably end up everywhere (or so we suppose) eventually. On a slightly different note, the Battle Above Endor sets are on sale TODAY and TOMORROW only for $21.99 ($10 off) which is actually a deal since TRU is currently gouging collectors at $31.99 each.

Review: Han Solo - TSC - SAGA 035

Posted by Paul | September 28, 2011 at 12:05 AM ET |

If Hasbro would have just retooled his chubby hands and angled his arms differently, this Han Solo action figure would have been significantly better. We don't get too many accessories with this version, but see how Research Droids Reviews analyzes this figure's worth as a possible candidate for your collection. Hasbro: Oh No He Did Not; Frederick: Oh Yes I Did!

"Any" means "any" especially to Canadian JTA Facebook fan Frederick Foster, who sent in 5 Kenner vintage POPs from the late 70s and early 80s and has confirmed that Hasbro has cashed his check for the free Boba Fett (Prototype Armor) mail-away figure. Review: Luke Skywalker - TSC - SAGA 036

Posted by Paul | September 27, 2011 at 12:10 AM ET |

OK - here's a figure that proves a $6.99 purchase is worthy based on the accessories alone! Yes, it's true. Luke Skywalker (Escape From Mos Eisley) from The Saga Collection is an old sculpt repainted with a brand new head, but the accessories he comes with are enough to make you drool. See why Research Droids Reviews is raving mad about this figure. Please feel free to leave your own comments in our new Disqus comments section about this item and as always, please vote in our poll! Review: Hem Dazon - TSC - SAGA 033

Posted by Paul | September 26, 2011 at 12:20 AM ET |

Hem Dazon was another great addition to The Saga Collection with really only a few issues. He cannot hold his gun, but it fits nicely in his holster. And he has an overall great sculpt despite being only a puppet head in Episode IV. Research Droids Reviews welcomes guest reviewer David Delgado back from EchoBaseNews.com to give his thoughts on this excellent figure. Review: Garindan - TSC - SAGA 034

Posted by Paul | September 25, 2011 at 12:05 AM ET |

It was one of the hardest The Saga Collection action figures to find because it only shipped in one case. You probably still found him with relative ease though because "rare" in 2006 is by no means the same "rare" in 2011. (Figures actually shipped to stores in 2006 with some regularity. We're being acidic, please forgive us). Garindan, as Research Droids Reviews determines, is a major step up from the 1997 but he isn't in the clear to be deemed definitive. That doesn't mean we don't love him either. Please feel free to leave your own comments in our new Disqus comments section about this item and as always, please vote in our poll! Up Close TVC Wave 8 Photos! New Information Arises!!! Please Read!

Posted by Paul | September 24, 2011 at 09:52 PM ET |

JTA foreign correspondent Bryan Mark German sends us some nice front, back and up-close shots of the just arrived wave 8 of The Vintage Collection in the Philippines. Before you get too excited, wave 8 is simply known as the Revenge Of The Jedi wave which really just contains repacks (for the most part - there are some exceptions like Han Solo (In Trench Coat) for example). There are however some very intriguing things happening with the final production samples. YOU MUST FIND OUT WHAT WE'VE DISCOVERED. Click through to see this and a WHOLE bunch more.

Price Cut At Walmart For The Clone Wars Figures

Posted by Paul | September 24, 2011 at 06:08 PM ET |

By laws of mathematical induction, assuming that n is true and n+1 is also true, we can then assume the the rest is true. All Walmart stores in the Philly area have The Clone Wars figures reduced to $6.88 and a call into a friend also confirmed the same in NJ. So I would assume this is true for the rest of the country too, but don't take my word for it and be sure to check it out for yourself. No price reductions on Saga Legends or The Vintage Collection yet. Still, if it is true for The Clone Wars figures, that's a good price. The Clone Wars figures haven't been this price since the line launch in August of 2010. Click through for the proof (and don't trust my math skills either, it's been a very long time since I took Mathematical Reasoning at Rutgers).

Star Wars Pringles And Other Food Products

Posted by Paul | September 24, 2011 at 12:09 PM ET |

The Star Wars branding is taking over some of our favorite food products. Pringles, Cheerios and other products can all now be found in Star Wars packaging! What's more interesting however is the new animated takes on the Original Trilogy characters. Do you think a new animated cartoon based on characters from the films is possible? Or is it just a clever marketing scheme to keep more in line with The Clone Wars? Interesting to say the least. It would have been a lot easier just to use stills and photos than create new animated takes of them. Click through for proof.

Review: R5-D4 - TSC - SAGA 032

Posted by Paul | September 24, 2011 at 12:08 AM ET |

See what a real R5-D4 action figure is supposed to look like in our Research Droids Reviews today. What a shame Hasbro utilized the Build A Droid R5 unit sculpt to make the R5-D4 action figure in The Vintage Collection because this figure is infinitely better. For the record, a Build A Droid figure is not a premium made collector focused action figure and should never be carded in The Vintage Collection. Oh Hasbro, why must you do this to us? Please feel free to leave your own comments in our new Disqus comments section about this item and as always, please vote in our poll! Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Review: Momaw Nadon - TSC - SAGA 031

Posted by Paul | September 23, 2011 at 12:05 AM ET |

It's hard to believe that one of the best action figures Hasbro has ever created only has six swivel joints. But Research Droids Reviews tries to explain that it's sometimes true for an action figure to be near perfect because of the strength of its sculpt and not its articulation. Such is true for Momaw Nadon from The Saga Collection. It's one of the absolute best action figures of all time. Review: ARF Trooper [Kamino] - TCW - CW56

Posted by Paul | September 22, 2011 at 12:10 AM ET |

There are some action figures done so well that it's quite understandable (and acceptable) that their sculpts get reused again and again in order for Hasbro to make new characters. See the latest ARF Trooper, a Kamino flavored one, in our Research Droids Reviews today because it's even better than many of the recently released action figures in The Clone Wars line. He's not entirely accurate.... yet, but you'll see why once you click through. Hasbro Cleanses Walmart Too

Posted by Paul | September 21, 2011 at 07:48 AM ET |

OK, so you saw the reports on the TARGET purge. Just this morning, we couldn't believe our eyes as we witnessed a local Hasbro rep pulling figures off of our local Walmart shelves. We asked and she confirmed that there is indeed a directive from Hasbro to perform this action retail-wide. If you visit your local store(s) and notice that the pegs are thinner, that store has been "hit". If you have been waiting for the likes of the yellowed Clone Trooper, (Twin Pod) Cloud Car Pilot, 4-LOM or Dengar to go on sale, forget about it. These will be history shortly. If you waited, make it an urgent mission to get these action figures for your collection.

UPDATE: Further Discounts For LEGO Stuff At TRU?

Posted by Paul | September 15, 2011 at 08:33 PM ET |

Toys R Us just send out an ad which is claiming that all LEGO construction sets and boardgames are Buy One Get One 50% off. It will be interesting to see if this can be combined with their already 10-30% special going on right now. This special 2 day sale is for tomorrow Friday, September 16th and Saturday, September 17th only! It may be worth the trip, you just never know!

UPDATE: The coupons and other details inside of the ad clarify that Star Wars LEGOS are excluded from the BOGO portion of the sale. It makes sense, but the front of the ad doesn't have this disclaimer. TRU needs to learn how to advertise properly!

Review: Saesee Tiin - TCW - CW54

Posted by Paul | September 14, 2011 at 12:10 AM ET |

Saesee Tiin had a rather late appearance in The Clone Wars television show, hence a late appearance in The Clone Wars basic figure line. He comes with a silly jetpack, but Hasbro did real justice to the figure itself. Check out why Research Droids Reviews is very excited to get an animated take on this diminutively aggressive Jedi Master. Some of you aren't going to like this post, but please don't send me hate mail. Toys R Us And Their Ads - Interpretive It Is!

Posted by Paul | September 12, 2011 at 08:12 PM ET |

OK, so we all learned that not all of the TRU stuff was on sale for 30% despite conflicting interpretations of their ad. Just today, I calmly and professionally explained how myself and others interpreted what "ALL Star Wars figures" means. Management at the store agreed and graciously adjusted my receipts further. In short, I got the Star Wars: Republic Commando (Delta Squad) and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Sith & Imperial Troopers) for $27.99 and the TRU exclusive Deluxe sets for $12.59 each. Respect, calmness and a smile go a long way. Good luck with your adjustments if you are able to plead your case.

Posted by Paul | September 11, 2011 at 12:38 AM ET |

The elusive Wedge Antilles from The Vintage Collection is the subject of today's Research Droids Reviews. We think it's a great interpretation of him, but certainly not worthy of the drama he has caused in the collecting community. (That is, the head sculpt delay wasn't worth the distress!) Toys R Us Deeply Discounting Remaining Older Exclusives!

Posted by Paul | September 10, 2011 at 01:32 PM ET |

If you're fortunate enough to have TRU store near you that sits on exclusives, now's the time to check out and see what they have left. In a rare move, they have significantly reduced the prices in an effort to clearance them out. We located The Clone Wars Imperial V-wing Starfighter for $15.98 (down from $29.99) and the Legacy Collection TIE Interceptor for $19.98 (the only place you can get the TIE Fighter Pilot without the ace stripes down from $49.99). TARGET Exclusive Animated Series Episode Packs Finally Clearanced!

Posted by Paul | September 10, 2011 at 01:23 PM ET |

It seem that TARGET has finally gotten sick of their remaining 2010 exclusives and have finally marked down the DVD sets (Animated Series Episode packs) down to $12.48 each (in Philly at least). They've sat for so long that the clone troopers have begun to yellow (or green)! These have been full price for us until now. Sorry for the blurry picture, but you already know what these sets look like. Check out reviews for both HERE. Click through to see the proof!

A Rare Find Just Swinging From The Pegs.... Years After The Fact!

Posted by Paul | September 10, 2011 at 01:12 PM ET |

Look what we found in Kmart this morning! You just never know what is capable of showing up when you're a Star Wars collector. This is a rare figure in case you aren't aware. Click through to check out our find!

UPDATE: It seems that many of you out there weren't aware why this Chewbacca is a rare find. Initial shipments of the 2009 LC Saga Legends (SL15) was shipped with the 2008 TLC Chewbacca (BD 3) figure. It was quickly replaced with the 2007 TAC Betrayal On Bespin figure (which is based almost entirely on the 2004 VOTC figure).

There are many other things packed into this display as well. You best head to your Toys R Us store ASAP and see if you can score these awesome new figures as well! And stay close with us because we have inside information of an event happening starting tomorrow at TRU as well! The announcement is coming soon, we promise! Latest Star Wars Saga DVDs Recalled? No Longer An Opportunity To Buy?

Posted by Paul | September 04, 2011 at 12:54 PM ET |

We have learned of a rumor. Please take this with a grain of salt until more in confirmed, but one of our readers has attempted to purchase some of the currently available Star Wars films on DVD. He was informed by a Walmart employee that all have been recalled. I have also not been able to find any in stock at the moment. Have we all missed the boat trying to grab the current versions? Does this mean that forever our beloved films will have Ewoks blinking? Could Lucasfilm, Ltd. be futilely trying to get rid of remaining existing versions of the Star Wars saga? More on this later as the story develops. But let us know if your experiences are different.

Review: Obi-Wan Kenobi [Episode III] - Mini Bust

Posted by Paul | September 04, 2011 at 12:08 AM ET |

Sometimes things can go so wrong for a Star Wars collectible. We think something definitely went wrong with the Entertainment Earth exclusive Obi-Wan Kenobi Mini Bust. A character that most licensees can nail with relative ease, Research Droids Reviews is royally disappointed with the Gentle Giant, Ltd. Episode III interpretation of Obi-Wan Kenobi. But how will you feel? Please feel free to leave your own comments in our new Disqus comments section about this item and as always, please vote in our poll! UPDATE: Droid Factory Swap Meet AT Jedi Temple Archives

Posted by Paul | September 03, 2011 at 11:34 PM ET |

Jedi Temple Archives is still working on a way to successfully host an indefinite Droid Factory "Swap Meet" at our site and keep parts in stock here to serve as a collectors' resource so they can finish some of their incomplete droids. We are still looking for feedback on the best ways to handle. There is a lot of excitment about this, but we have to iron out some kinks. It would be great if you could update your thoughts and check out what others are writing in our forums about this. Please click through and read our forum post on this topic and voice your opinion. Thank you very much!

Review: Republic Fighter Tank - TCW [SOTDS] - Vehicles

Posted by Paul | September 03, 2011 at 12:01 AM ET |

The Republic Fighter Tank is one of the best mid size vehicles Hasbro has made to date. In fact, they even think it's good and decided to repaint it and sell it again in The Clone Wars line (although it's never appeared in the television show or movie yet). See how this relatively new vehicle stacks up in our Research Droids Reviews post today! One of our readers sent in a picture from his local Toys R Us to let everyone know that they are running a special on the BAT-AT for $30 off through Labor Day! This isn't a bad deal at all! But keep in mind that this vehicle really retailed for $99.99 most everywhere else, so it's more like $20 off instead. See below for the proof.

Review: Darth Revan - Mini Bust

Posted by Paul | September 02, 2011 at 12:10 AM ET |

Despite Darth Revan's popularity, there are not too many toys and collectibles based on him. In fact, unless we counted incorrectly, Gentle Giant's Mini Bust is only the second item to purchase as a collectible after Hasbro's action figure (we could be wrong) (Editor's Note: We were wrong. JTA reader hopestarbrowning writes in to let us know we forgot about 2 version of Darth Malak collectibles. There is also a Mighty Mugg and a STar Wars Miniatures figure. Thank you!). See why Research Droids Reviews is happy to see another Darth Revan hit the collectible market, but wishes how more time would have been spent getting the finer details perfect.
