The Star Wars Retro Collection is inspired by the 1980s STAR WARS figures and features original figure design and detailing! Continue your collection from the galaxy far, far away!

Some collectors are unable or unwilling to process why Hasbro produces figures in the Retro Collection format and why their fellow collectors acquire any interest in them. However, many collectors do add the Retro Collection characters into their collections. Some are charming. Some are a waste of plastic. And others are perplexing. The HK-87 Assassin Droid falls under the "perplexing" category. If you're collecting figures in the 3.75-inch scale, you want all of them super-articulated. So why would they make the HK-87 Assassin Droid the alternate variation in the Star Wars: Ahsoka series instead of making a 5POA "all red" droid? We still need this HK-87 Assassin Droid flavor in The Vintage Collection. And while it may be forthcoming from Hasbro later, it makes it painful for those who want first to see everything produced in a super-articulated style. The Retro Collection HK-87 Assassin Droid is nothing too extraordinary, and we don't have much to say about it. The figure has an awkward lean to balance its center of gravity. But interestingly, the figure has an area on its back to attack the included blaster when not in use. So, we appreciate little details like this in an action figure style meant to pay homage to the Kenner line that ran from 1978 to 1985. HK-87 Assassin Droid is simply painted and is barely faithful to the on-screen character, but we can see where Hasbro attempted to "think" through the eyes of a Kenner employee during that classic period. The Retro Collection has an MSRP of $11.99 each, and that's a bit laughable for 5POA action figures that cost Hasbro very little revenue to design and produce.
