Luke Skywalker: X-Wing Pilot

Detailed Visual Analysis

Luke Skywalker: X-Wing Pilot

General Analysis

Luke Skywalker: X-Wing Pilot is the figure that ignited my Star Wars collecting passion. Many of you can recall my experience in my 1979 kindergarten class when a classmate brought in this very figure for "show and tell." Thirty-seven years later I reconnected with that former classmate, and he sent me the very figure that inspired me as a child. He sent it as a gift, complete with scrapes and scratches. You can see the full heartwarming story HERE. I will always cherish this figure as long as I have breath. It swooped me into the Star Wars universe with reckless abandon, and in many ways, I am eternally grateful for that. It’s fair to say that Luke Skywalker: X-Wing Pilot doesn’t necessarily look all that much like the onscreen Luke Skywalker character, but many of us used this figure for various Rebel pilots as well as doubling as Luke in his snowspeeder outfit as we saw in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. A fantastic second series figure in the STAR WARS line, Luke Skywalker: X-Wing Pilot became a staple across the many vintage Kenner line looks and was reissued as late as THE POWER OF THE FORCE line. Once again, I am so thankful for this figure. It hasn’t remained my favorite Kenner action figure overall, but its nostalgia cannot be equaled for me.
