Enfys Nest's Swoop Bike: The Cloud-Rider gang led by Enfys Nest terrorizes the skies atop their mean-looking swoop bikes. Little more than engines with seats, swoops are hard to control but capable of incredible speed.

Enfys Nest: An extremely dangerous marauder, Enfys Nest is brutally carving out a nefarious reputation for herself and her gang of swoop-riding pirates, the Cloud-Riders.

Sigh. OK, maybe that’s not a great way to start off a Hasbro toy review, but that was our first reaction honestly when inspecting The Black Series [Phase III] Enfys Nest's Swoop Speeder/Enfys Nest 6” vehicle set, the fifth in the line. From a visual perspective, the set looks pretty fantastic. You may notice a couple of interesting things about it that may pique your interest, but you may also find some things that make it screen inaccurate. Before we get to the vehicle, let’s talk about Enfys Nest first. The figure is nice. Hasbro utilized both molded parts and soft-goods to bring her into the line. She’s loaded with articulation and generally has clean and aptly applied paint operations. However, the important Aurebesh language on her helmet is not found her. It looks like Hasbro tooled it on there (etched it in), but the paint operations to make it visible are not there. This is frustrating because the simple 5POA version has this important deco. Both The Vintage Collection Enfys Nest (VC125) and now this figure do not have it. Interestingly, the largest interpretation of Enfys Nest, the 12-inch Figure, doesn’t have the deco either, so it looks very random at this point. How does Hasbro not expect to disappoint collectors when the most expensive iteration of her is the one that needs it the most? You’ll have to pay $59.99 to purchase her, and they couldn’t add a smidge more deco to the pack-in figure? Yes, that’s disappointing to us. We would like to remind you that despite the lack of Aurebesh language, the figure does look good otherwise.

Enfys Nest's Swoop Speeder is another item in this set that is visually striking but feels a little cheap when you hold it in your hands. The plastics used are extremely pliable, and while we don’t fear breakage, we do worry about the parts of this vehicle, especially the extra-long parts, that will bow/bend over time which will, in turn, affect the aesthetics of what is a beautiful vehicle. There are VERY few features to Enfys Nest's Swoop Speeder. Other than a place for the figure to sit (and her feet BARELY touch the pedals), Hasbro included a tilting stand (which doesn’t work all that well) and an opening hood which reveals the engine. That’s it! Surely they could have added a few silly “off screen” features like storage areas and the like to keep this vehicle a little more interesting? Enfys Nest sits on the bike with a natural look, and although it isn’t a perfect fit for her, it accomplishes what it needs to as a collectible toy: a pilot riding her bike. The figure nicely painted and has a nice amount of detail. The soft-goods on Enfys Nest allow for great interaction with the Swoop Bike. It’s an ideal mix. Oh, and as far as Enfys Nests’ costume, the figure has beautifully complex paint operations throughout its sculpt and Star Wars saga familiarity. She has strong The Force Unleashed and Felucian qualities about her. She also has Mandalorian qualities as well. There is something very “tribal” about her look, outfit, and attitude that cannot escape this figure. She has “warrior” written all over her. Despite her faults, it’s nice to have her articulated like this.

We feel the Enfys Nest's Swoop Speeder/Enfys Nest set is a bittersweet release. We love the character. We love the figure. We love the vehicle. But it doesn’t feel like all of the stops were pulled out to make this item for The Black Series [Phase III] 6” line. Sadly, for us, it feels like some shortcuts were taken, and that should be an option in a premium collectors line. There are too many competing licensees today which will cause an unneeded distraction which will ultimately make fans of the line become former fans, and they’ll spend their monies elsewhere. We don’t want to see that happen. Besides, there is room for debate on whether this set is worthy of the $60 price. So, how about the MSRP? Well, it’s our strong opinion that it is high, and doesn’t command the $59.99 price tag. A much better price setting is in the $40 range. You’d wonder if Hasbro would have better sales success if they sold all of these at a full price between $35 and $40 than for the collecting community to wait until these hit $5, $10 or $15 at Walmart or online, which they inevitably will. But if they all sold out at a lower price point, there wouldn’t be many left for the clearance vultures. Besides, retail would be the only place feeling the loss. Overall, we like how much of the Enfys Nest's Swoop Speeder/Enfys Nest set turned out, but it is far from perfection. And it may take a few more bells and whistles before you feel that you’re getting your money’s worth here. And in our opinion, no toy should make a collector think twice. They should grab it on impulse. But that’s not where important parts of the line are at right now, especially the vehicles.
