The Power Of The Force “2” [Green/Freeze Frame] Deluxe line took a turn for the better if you compare them to what Kenner/Hasbro made in the “red” line versus this line. Focusing mostly on scene-specific “things” instead of their concepts, Kenner/Hasbro introduced some incredible pieces that include both figures and accessories that are seen in the Original Trilogy films. Most importantly, these ideas are long-awaited by the collecting community. Released alongside the Rebel Hoth Soldier Deluxe figure, the Snowtrooper Deluxe figure is the yang to the former’s yin and includes an accessory we’ve wanted to see modernized for a while now: the E-Web Heavy Repeating Blaster. It’s wonderful to get a set based on what the Rebel Alliance utilizes and a competing set of what the Galactic Empire utilizes from the same Battle of Hoth. It would be nice to see more playsets made to complete the diorama, but this is a huge step forward, and they’re destined to make collectors very happy people. With quality materials, excellent sculpting and beautiful paint operations, the revised Deluxe line sets are impressing collectors of all ages and adding stuff to enhance playtime as well as expanding collections.

The Snowtrooper Deluxe figure includes the E-Web Heavy Repeating Blaster. And it breaks down into an astounding nine pieces but comes pre-prepped as seven pieces inside of the packaging. (The barrel and hinge-joint pivot point are attached, and the power box and lid are together as well.) When fully assembled it’s incredibly screen-accurate and possesses decent movement. The included hose has some give but is mostly tough, and it's hard to place the power box in multiple positions because of this reason. Still, it’s a beauty of a toy and will fit into your collection beautifully. Cast in solid black plastic and without any paint operations detail at all, the E-Web Heavy Repeating Blaster looks good without this. We would have loved to see Kenner/Hasbro add some wear and tear detail, but it works without it. When you place the included Snowtrooper at the handlebars of this devastating weapon, you have a fantastically amazing display piece, and it’s one of the finest things Hasbro produced to date. You’re probably going to want multiples of these because they’re that good. Let’s take a close look at the included Snowtrooper here. It’s much different than you probably expect.

The Snowtrooper is an all-new figure. Although aesthetically similar to past Snowtrooper action figures in this line, Kenner/Hasbro needed to design a figure that interacts with the E-Web Heavy Repeating Blaster accessory. This accessory requires a Snowtrooper figure in a leaning and crouching position, and that’s what we have here. With a forward-leaning upper body and bent knees, the Snowtrooper is ready to take on the Rebel Alliance during the Battle of Hoth. Or you can have him take on the Millennium Falcon as it attempts to flee Echo Base. Your options are essentially endless. The paint operations on this version of the Snowtrooper are much heavier and darker. You’ll notice the drastic difference between this version and 1997’s POTF2 [FF/TKC] Snowtrooper figure. He comes with a removable backpack, but no other accessories like a blaster pistol or blaster rifle. But that might not matter since the gun he does come with is bigger than he is. While the Snowtrooper has a lot going for it, you may find it also has an issue or two as well. For example, his “butt” looks a little too big. But we believe the pose has much to do with that. Overall, this is a gorgeous release, and it will stand the test of time.
