The Retro Collection Biker Scout is part of the Return Of The Jedi 40th Anniversary wave of figures produced by Hasbro. Like all figures in the line, the Biker Scout suffers from softer features that inadvertently remove the finer details. As a result, the Biker Scout looks different than its vintage Kenner counterpart. Coincidentally, the Retro Collection Biker Scout figure is taller than the 1983 version. And for one reason or another, Hasbro tooled the legs differently. The figure has less of a wide stance this time around. And they didn’t bother doing anything to the hands to accommodate better the included gray blaster pistol. The Biker Scout figure still cannot hold it properly. What we’re most disappointed about is the discolored plastic. We noticed a pinkish hue in parts of the new Biker Scout figure, and we’re not sure what happened here. The 2023 Biker Scout is undoubtedly whiter than the yellowed vintage Kenner figures, but it’s not as pristine as you might hope. The card art is cookie-cutter for this line. Hasbro made the packaging faux-weathered, and a substantial RETRO COLLECTION sticker covers up a significant portion of the character photo. It will be interesting to see where Hasbro takes the Retro Collection next. But right now, it feels like it is beginning to fizzle.
