Celebration didn't feature a big Episode VIII announcement, but director Rian Johnson was on hand to talk about the process of bringing the latest chapter in the Star Wars saga to life. Although we've heard a lot of what he said before, Johnson offered up some interesting information when he listed six films that influenced the direction of Episode VIII. The six films he mentioned were Bridge on the River Kwai, Gunga Din, Sahara (1943), Letter Never SentTwelve O'Clock High, and Three Outlaw Samurai. It's definitely an intriguing group of classic movies and they almost exclusively take place during the middle of war. It will be interesting to see how directly these films influenced Episode VIII.
