Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader Evolutions:
Anakin "Jedi Hero"

I wasn't too sure about getting
this particular Evolutions set since I already had these characters as action figures.
I bought a set to keep MIB, then came across another, so I decided to buy it and
open it up. Man, am I GLAD I did!
This is part one of my three part review. As you can tell by the title this review
is for the AOTC version of Anakin in the set.
Here are my subjective and objective reviews for the figure:

Head Sculpt:
Okay, not great, but it adequately fills the need.
Rates 3.0 out of 5 Holocrons
Articulation:
Outstanding! This guy is SA in everything except no ankle joint, which is fine by me. Dang, I might just have to buy a few more of these sets and replace all of the previous AOTC Anakins with this one. (But I'm getting ahead of myself). By now most of you know what "SA" means, but in case you don't, let me expand upon it. "SA" means super-articulated. Now this may vary from figure to figure, but generally means the figure has all of the following joints: Ball Jointed Head, 2-point shoulder (much like a ball joint but the joint is actually made up of two points of articulation that can work together or separately), 2-point elbow and wrist. In this figure’s particular case the right hand is able to be removed for robotic hand accessory. Waist/hip (in rare cases like the AT-TE gunner, for instance, this is 2-point but in most it’s just one) 2-point knee Ankle-though as described above this particular figure doesn't have ankle articulation. (Only a slight mark down)
Rating 4.5 out of 5 Holocrons
Paint Application:
As stated in previous reviews, it’s kind of hard to screw up a Jedi’s robes. Over all the paint is good. Only nitpick is that the neck color and the head color don't match. But I can live with it)
Rating 3.5 out of 5 Holocrons
Overall sculpt:
Great job! The faux leather tabards (the over the shoulder sashes) have an added
effect of realism that’s been much needed for this figure. The head needs work, but
otherwise this is a GREAT sculpt!
Rating 4.0 out of 5 Holocrons
Accessories:
The set as a whole has plenty of accessories. I'm going to just talk about those ones that apply to this figure. This Anakin comes with a Geonosis arena chain, saber hilt, attachable saber blade and robotic hand. All of these items are fairly standard for this figure. I will note that the chain is very long which makes for a good accessory should you want to recreate the Reek riding scene. The robotic arm is a nice touch.
Rating 3.5 out of 5 Holocrons

Customization possibilities:
Hmm, let’s see, a near perfect SA body...nah no possibilities here...okay, sarcasm
aside, this is a GREAT figure for customizing. Head swap with any number of humans
or aliens, simple repaint of the robes and you've got yourself another fine Jedi
action figure. Man, this set has it all!! (Getting ahead of myself again)
Rating 5.0 out of 5 Holocrons
Playability:
Okay, even I had to play with this figure for a bit. There’s no way with all that
articulated goodness that you can't play with it. If you don't then maybe you aught
to rethink why you collect, ha ha.
Rating 5.0 out of 5 Holocrons
Overall Score:
The BEST Anakin from AOTC ever. It has everything except ankle articulation and needs
a slightly better head sculpt. Still, this figure handily beats down all of it’s
predecessors.
If you haven't picked up this set yet, the RUN to your nearest store and get it.
But wait there’s more...look for my reviews for the other two figures in the set
coming soon...
Rating 4.5 out of 5 Holocrons
