ROTS #56 – Mustafar Sentry (Stunning Energy Bolt):

This was not a figure that would have been on my list to make for the ROTS line. Perhaps later, but with so many other great characters/clones/Jedi, the Mustafar sentry could have waited to be put into production. Well with that glowing start...on with the review.

Here are my subjective and objective reviews for the figure:

Head Sculpt:
The head sculpt is actually pretty good for the character. It seems as though Hasbro does pretty good on average with alien figures as there's no “real-life” comparison.
Rating 3.0 out of 5 Holocrons

Articulation:
Basic. Hasbro did miss an opportunity here with one point of articulation and that is the knee. The way this is sculpted you'd think it was articulated there but isn't. The points of articulation are as follows:

  • Ball joint Head
  • Ball joint shoulders (really it's two points in one)
  • Hinged Elbows
  • Swivel Waist
  • Hinged Hips
  • Ball Jointed Ankles
That's it. No wrist or two point elbows or knee. Well I guess for a minor character (or is that MINER, ha ha) it will suffice.
Rating 2.5 out of 5 Holocrons

    Paint Application:
I recall these looking much cleaner in the movie. I could be wrong. The bronze coloration on the majority of the figure at least to me seems to be more “Lava reflection” than actual color of the clothing. There are only 2 primarily used colors. The bronze and a muddy blue. So not to much to the paint app. (However the detailing in the sculpt helps to make up for this.)
Rating 2.0 out of 5 Holocrons

    Overall sculpt:
This is a good sculpt. While I find this particular character uninteresting, I will give it good marks for the sculpt. There's lots of detail there, especially in the upper body and head.
Rating 4.0 out of 5 Holocrons

    Accessories:
“Spinning” Attack rod and a figure stand. That's it. To be fair there really isn't much else this figure should come with though. What befuddles me though is the “spinning” part. It doesn't really spin and to make it spin you have to take the rod from the character and do it yourself. You can't just flick it while the figure is holding it and make it spin. The stand is cool and is a welcome new mold to the other stands. This one is primarily lava rock and flame!
Rating 2.5 out of 5 Holocrons

    Customization possibilities:
I really don't see anything that can come from this figure. It's VERY specific to scene. (Though I'm sure someone out there more creative than me will customize this fig somehow) To me it stinks in this area though.
Rating 0.0 out of 5 Holocrons (First “ZERO” ever)

    Playability:
Hardly an action packed figure. It's barely more than a diorama filler.
Rating 1.5 out of 5 Holocrons (and I think I'm being generous there)

    Overall Score:
Just not impressed by the figure. Again, Hasbro could have and should have made any number of figure before this one. The coloration and detailing help it, but it's still a very bland character. I find that every time I look at the “skirt” of the fig that it reminds me of an Egyptian theme and not Star Wars.
Rating 2.0 out of 5 Holocrons

    Respectfully submitted
