So there was an “event” of sorts with a bunch of the authors involved in Project Luminous tonight and with very little fanfare. StarWars.com has shared some of the details regarding the High Republic and the new books. There is also a little video that pretty much sums up what it’s all about so take a look. But very quickly and to the point, the Jedi of this period are “like the knights of the round table” and the threat is coming from the borders of the republic with the main threat known as the Nihil (pronounced Nile) who are like space Vikings. What do the Jedi fear most? Losing the light! To see the video, some concept art, and a few new book covers be sure to click through!
As we wait for the first official news of Project Luminous tonight (supposedly), we got our first look at where we will be heading. Charles Soule, writer of many of the best modern Star Wars comics, will deliver his first full Star Wars novel The High Republic: Light of the Jedi. There are also some other as-of-yet untitled Project Luminous titles listed on the Random House site, but this cover has gotten me pretty excited. Hopefully, this announcement will give us some amazing new content to look forward to. As a fan of the comics and novels, I’m personally excited to read a Charles Soule novel about a completely new era in Star Wars history, but I am also anxious to see where this goes in film/tv. Are you looking forward to moving outside of the Skywalker Saga? Let us know!

I just came across the cover for this children’s book by author Jeffrey Brown! It was released in August 2019 and you can get it on Amazon (it has a 5 star rating!). Something about the cover makes me laugh… so I wanted to share it with you.
I wonder what the intended message is…. at least everyone seems to be happy! But is it fair that Poe seems to carry most of the weight?

There is a new exclusive excerpt from the upcoming Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: Resistance Reborn novel from author Rebecca Roanhorse over at io9 Gizmodo. This story takes place immediately after the events of The Last Jedi and it definitely sounds like it will fill in some of the gaps. There is also another excerpt posted on StarWars.com from a few weeks back if you also want to check that out! You can also pre-order Resistance Reborn now for a Nov. 5 release date now.
The Star Wars novel “Force Collector” will be released as part of the “Journey To Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” on November 19th, but some details of the upcoming novel have already leaked on Reddit. The novel revolves around the grandson of a former Jedi who has a mysterious power, when he touches certain objects he receives visions and flashbacks. But that shall not concern us here.
The tidbit that may be of interest to fans of Han Solo is this: in the novel the protagonist meets Maz at her cantina/castle and while there he touches one of the Yavin medals. And it turns out that none other than Han Solo gave Luke’s Yavin medeal to Maz to pay for a drink! Maz then calls Han a “bastard”.
Now, whoever controls canon at Lucasfilm, whoever has the right to veto certain things in the novels, maybe should have thought really hard about that tidbit and if that is something that a post “A New Hope” Han Solo would actually do. But since all the novels are canon, Han Solo is now someone who sold Luke’s Yavin medal for booze, on top of being a loser dad and estranged husband, who reverted to being a scoundrel and swindling his way through life some time after Return of the Jedi, only to get killed by his son who didn’t like being sent to Jedi boarding school, where his uncle tried to murder him in his sleep.
So what do you think? Do you think a post Return of the Jedi Han Solo would actually sell Luke’s Yavin medal for a drink?

Blue Milk’s Kickstarter project is a success! The Vintage Collection book by Derryl DePriest, Rich Alot and D Martin Myatt has left the mininum goal of $50,000 far behind and is already on its way to reach the final $100,000 stretch goal. At the time I write this article the project is only a few hundred dollars short of the $80,000 goal, which will give the book special fold-out entries for the Millennium Falcon and the Khetanna. It’s certainly only a matter of hours or a few days until the $100,000 goal is reached.
The project has 575 backers at the moment. One fan gave $5,000 and 2 fans gave $2,500. If you want the backer reward for the $2,500 contribution (you will be listed as a producer at the front of the book and get a carded Haslab Yakface, among other things), one more reward is available!
So, congratulations to the Blue Milk team! And if anyone wants to secure their copy of the book, you have 36 more days to back the project!
Update: the $80,000 stretch goal has been reached!
