It’s a fact. Medicom Toy Corporation has designed and produced one of the most unique Star Wars collectible lines ever: the Japanese styled Vinyl Collectible Dolls, also affectionately known by the abbreviations VCDs. This caricature like interpretations of the most popular Star Wars characters have been designed to stand roughly 8-inches tall. And the stylized sculpt captures the menace, but with added cuteness, of these popular Star Wars characters. This time, the Clone Trooper [501st Legion] has been chosen next but has been reserved for 2006’s San Diego Comic Con exclusive. Based on the character’s appearance from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, this VCD is destined to make collectors extremely happy. Japanese collectibles are designed with precision and care. They’re definitely high-end, but in the case of the VCDs they’re also quite durable. Also, the paint operations on Japanese collectibles are second to none. The effort that goes into ensuring the deco looks incredible is extremely evident. It’s great to see so much pride go into a Star Wars collectible like this.
In our opinion, the Clone Trooper [501st Legion] VCD matches the depth of the onscreen character beautifully. Although super-deformed, the head sculpt probably falls between one-fourth and one-third scale and is probably as accurate of an interpretation of the onscreen character we’ll ever see in this scale. For us, the silhouette and detail has been faithfully and expertly crafted for this collectible release. Medicom Toy have tooled the basic clone trooper design perfectly in our opinion. Clone Trooper [501st Legion] is highly poseable and comes complete with standard issue DC-15 blaster includes blaster. The lower body is of course super-deformed, yet this exaggerated style works incredibly well in this format. No attention to detail was spared. And for all intents and purposes, the application of this character’s finest details have been better attained here then say another collectible version (without taking a super-deformed approach), action figures included.
Complete with ten points of swivel articulation, the Clone Trooper [501st Legion] can be placed into a variety of poses. But don’t expect the figure to be configured into action stances. That just won’t be possible. Even so, the Clone Trooper [501st Legion] is visually interesting and should be a success. Collectors of Japanese memorabilia are dedicated and proud to own exclusive collectibles like this. Designated and known by the blue color flashes characteristic of the 501st Legion, Vader's Fist, this special operations team followed Darth Vader in the assault on the Jedi Temple. For one reason or another, Medicom Toy has deemed this style of Clone Trooper to be 2006’s San Diego Comic Con exclusive. This figure was limited to only 1000 pieces produced which proves its limited availability. We imagine that these will remain hard to come by as the years move forward. Don't miss your opportunity to own this incredible imported Star Wars treasure!
