I knew about Obi-Wan Kenobi from seeing Star Wars, but I didn’t have his action figure as a kid. The only time I played with the figure was when I visited my friend who happened to be a neighbor a couple of doors down from my house. If I recall, the figure was without its cape and lightsaber. In all honesty, this particular version of Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi looked rather silly without his accouterments. The older I got, the more I loved Obi-Wan’s role in Star Wars. His self-sacrifice is something that resonated strongly with me. But I never felt that the action figure was an excellent representation of the onscreen character. Eventually, in college, I was able to find both the white hair and gray hair versions of this figure in excellent condition which I have in my collection today. I wish that Kenner would have updated some of their oldest figures with new tooling so that they looked a little fresher in the line, but that never came to pass in time before the line’s demise. I am sure that many other collectors my age have more interesting stories about this action figure. But for me I just don’t have a great one to share.
