Imperial Stormtrooper (The Enforcer) - GOA - Basic

OK, so the Imperial Stormtrooper from the Galaxy Of Adventures basic figure line is pretty cool. We’ll admit it. Sure it’s lacking important articulation, but aesthetically it’s one of the nicest looking Imperial Stormtroopers in Hasbro’s long line of action figure making. Originally released as the Stormtrooper (Squad Leader) from the highly popular 2018 Star Wars [Solo] TARGET exclusive six-pack, the figure now has its Force Link 2.0 technology stripped and slightly repainted with a couple less accessories. The removal of the pauldron makes this figure a basic Imperial Stormtrooper as we saw throughout the Original Trilogy. If you’re not aware, the Imperial Stormtrooper’s original parts are sourced from 2018’s SW [S] Stormtrooper (Mimban) Force Link 2.0 figure (for the figure's body) and 2016's RO Imperial Stormtrooper figure (for the head sculpt). The figure comes with the same articulation as before, and the addition of two swivel wrists makes posing this figure a little more enjoyable. The Imperial Stormtrooper stands unassisted, ready for action and shimmers with its glossy white armor beautifully in your Star Wars collection. He can hold the included E-11 blaster very well with both hands, and with some clever posing, you can put him into the action relatively unhitched.

As you know, the Imperial Stormtrooper falls short because of its lack of articulation. But if you can look past this, we believe most will find this figure palatable, even enjoyable. Let’s face it. If there is one Star Wars character that Star Wars collectors are particularly territorial over, it would have to be the Imperial Stormtrooper. If feels that the Galaxy Of Adventures line will remain Original Trilogy consostent. It would be nice to see them take it into Prequel Trilogy territory, but it doesn't look like that will be part of this series' plans. The Imperial Stormtrooper is symbolic of the original Star Wars media we saw in the late seventies and early eighties. The controversial 5POA/7POA format is front and center with the Imperial Stormtrooper. So, when we look at a figure like the Imperial Stormtrooper, we weep. Some weep with happiness, others with pain. We feel strongly that this particular Imperial Stormtrooper figure should bring you some joy. He is a prime example of an excellent, albeit imperfect, action figure that comes with a beautiful sculpt and a beautiful silhouette. Yet the figure cannot achieve the poses we see in the Star Wars films. The figure is unable to look like a real Imperial Stormtrooper from the Original Trilogy. So it’s bittersweet, with a heavier weight leaning towards the spectrum of bitter. Still, all is not lost here. The figure isn’t without merit.

It’s fact. The Imperial Stormtrooper has a lovely sculpt. The helmet proportions are almost perfect. The helmet looks great from every angle: front, back, left, right. The band above the “eyes” is separated by a thin white area which creates a version of the Imperial Stormtrooper we prefer seeing, versus when the black line and visor are touching. We can’t find any differences between the design of this Imperial Stormtrooper’s armor when compared against the ones we see in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Hopefully, that was intentional, and the characters in this film are meant to be seamless with those from Episode IV. The Imperial Stormtrooper also comes with an E-11 blaster. The Imperial Stormtrooper is going to being a lot of nostalgia back to longtime collectors. You can’t fault the figure as not looking good because it does. In fact, the Imperial Stormtrooper borders on beautiful. The white is sterling and gorgeous. But admittedly, it is equally frustrating. Most collectors have no use for simply articulated trooper figures. So why then can’t Hasbro give these characters super-articulation and then reserve the 5POA for background aliens and B characters is beyond our comprehension? The included miniature comic is an awesome addition here. Maybe these pack-in premiums will save this line and make the $9.99 more palatable.
