Boba Fett (The Bounty Hunter) - GOA - Basic

Boba Fett is one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy, who tracks down Han Solo for the Empire.

More unnecessary repacks of 5POA stuff either still currently available at retail or released 100 times beforehand and often on clearance make up a good portion of the Galaxy Of Adventures line. You don’t have to wonder why the Star Wars line isn’t performing the failing at retail. You see something like the contents that make up the Galaxy Of Adventures line, and you think that this is the time where Hasbro is going to step things up. Instead, the revert back once again releasing more junk to retail that will either peg-warm, not make it to retail and end up at clearance outlets months later for pennies on the dollar. Yes, that’s a very bleak outlook of the Star Wars line, but how many times to does everyone need to wash, rinse and repeat the same happenings of Hasbro Star Wars at retail year after year? It would have been a great time to incorporate super-articulated versions of the core Original Trilogy Star Wars characters (which Galaxy Of Adventures mostly focuses on) to give us long-awaited updates while supporting the latest multimedia event like this. Instead, Hasbro digs into their 5POA/7POA archives to rehash figures that haven’t sold well the first time at a lower MSRP. Now collectors have to pay more money for the cylindrical packaging and included miniature comic.

Hopefully, Boba Fett will be good for the Galaxy OF Adventures line. The character sells well no matter how he enters the Star Wars line. This release shouldn’t be any different. Boba Fett is a slight repaint of 2013’s SW [DV/ROTS] Boba Fett (SL09) basic figure. Boba Fett still comes with five points of articulation. Hasbro has a great sculpt here of Boba Fett, but how many times are they going to release this figure because collectors can’t handle it anymore? Overall, the sculpt isn’t terrible, but it isn’t necessarily perfect either. The helmet is a tad too small, and the limited articulation essentially makes this a display piece and not an action figure with a ton of movement. Boba Fett comes with a removable jetpack and blaster rifle. Many aspects of the figure have good paint operations, but then Hasbro just left other parts completely unpainted, which gives the overall impression of this figure a very uncompleted look. We are finding that many figures in this line are suffering from this lack of attention as well. The figure has slightly different paint operations than the original release, but more or less it’s the same figure. It’s a bit tricky, but Boba Fett’s blaster rifle can be placed in both his left and right hands. With a little patience, you should get both hands to function in this manner.

Based on his appearance from The Empire Strikes Back, we wonder if we can expect Hasbro to release a similar version of this character in the colors we saw him wear in Return Of The Jedi as well. They haven’t done it since 2013, so it’s probably not happening at this point. If Hasbro doesn’t amortize these sculpts more often, isn’t the all-new tooling defeating the purpose then? Boba Fett fits well inside all of the Slave I vehicles produced throughout the years. That should be no surprise. The included miniature comic is fairly nice. It’s difficult to read the text in the comic, but the animation looks very nice, and the story fits in with what we saw in the Original Trilogy films and Is fairly consistent. Included in the comic are events that take place within The Empire Strikes Back. It’s a typical comic, but at least the focus is on the Original Trilogy. There’s even an opening scroll on the first page of the comic to give it that true Star Wars vibe. For $9.99, these figures are overpriced. But who knows how much longer the market will even bother with the Star Wars brand that contains 5POA action figures. It’s sadly become a toxic brand. The first couple of waves are already pennies on the dollar. How many more will Hasbro produce before it becomes a complete loss? Hasbro is asking us to pay $2 for figures because of a paper comic inside and unique packaging. That’s not nice.
