His body is shielded by beskar armor, his face is hidden behind a T-visored mask, and his past is wrapped in mystery. The Mandalorian is battle-worn and tight-lipped, a formidable bounty hunter in an increasingly dangerous galaxy.
Here he is! The main character of The Mandalorian television show is called The Mandalorian in the Hasbro toy line. We’ll likely learn more details about this character in the television show, but for the time being, we’re on a need to know basis, and that means less is more. Hasbro put together one of the most interesting groups of characters together for the first wave of The Black Series [Phase III] 6” figures for Triple Force Friday. With representation from The Rise Of Skywalker, The Mandalorian television series, and the Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order video game. We get a taste of everything as far as merchandising is concerned, and some products are better than others. But The Mandalorian is the highlight of the first wave of 6” figures. Fans of The Vintage Collection are envious; they didn’t get a super-articulated 3.75” The Mandalorian action figure, so 6” collectors get to enjoy the figure in all of its glory. And let us tell you that it’s full of glory. The Mandalorian possesses familiarity thanks to its Mandalorian armor, but it is a fresh new take on one of these characters. With a standout sculpt and a beautiful paint job, The Mandalorian will stay a favorite 6” figure for years to come. Let’s take a closer look at the figure.
As expected, The Mandalorian has a strong Boba Fett vibe to it. There are some immediate differences to the classic bounty hunter’s armor to this new figure, as well. For instance, there is no antenna on the helmet. There is more armor throughout the figure’s outfit. And there is an overall militaristic theme in The Mandalorian’s style and design. If you think of all of the fantastic Mandalorians we received as action figures in Hasbro’s long line, like from the Comic Packs and exclusive multipacks, you’ll find that The Mandalorian action figure has many similarities to those classic action figures. It has a great deal of newness to it as well. The color palette is gorgeous. With steel blue, brown, tan, and dark gray, Hasbro decorated The Mandalorian 6” figure beautifully. Longtime collectors of the 6” line will be happy to know that Hasbro utilized the enhanced articulation approach with this action figure, including the “butterfly” shoulder joints. They’re a bit difficult to utilize thanks to the bulkier design of the upper body, but they’re there and function well enough to be useful for collectors. The Mandalorian has a very streamlined look and feel to it, and isn’t encumbered by lots of bells and whistles that ultimately don’t do much for the figure.
Hasbro worked in a functioning holster for the included blaster pistol. It fits snuggly into place, and his right hand has been designed to accommodate when using it for defense. He also comes with a removable cape, but he looks fantastic wearing it, so you’ll probably want to keep it on him at all times. For us, the greatest part of The Mandalorian 6” figure is the included ray gun. Inspired from The Star Wars Holiday Special, this version of the ray gun has a personality on its own, and fits The Mandalorian beautifully. He can hold it with one hands or two hands, as a staff, or as a blaster. The options are yours, and the figure offers the freedom to display it as you wish. Overall, The Mandalorian is an excellent addition to The Black Series [Phase III] 6” line, and there are multiple ways to add it into your collection. The Mandalorian comes in a white First Issue box. These have proven difficult to acquire, and the production run is believed to be very small for them. So most will get the standard “black and red” packaging. Both packaging styles are featured in the gallery. Lastly, a bronze-colored “Carbonized” version is available in special metallic packaging and exclusive to TARGET. It also retails for $5 more. No matter your decision, be sure to add at least one The Mandalorian action figure to your collection.
