We discovered a new product line of Hasbro Star Wars action figures with which we fell in love. Don’t knock the Hasbro Star Wars Mission Fleet line of two-inch action figures. When announced at Toy Fair, we completely ignored them. But once we had them in-hand, we’re blown away by the level of detail, the amount articulation, and the intensity of the well-applied paint operations are in this line of adorable action figures. The style of the Mission Fleet line is somewhere between animated and realistic. The figure has slightly chunky proportions, with askew relationships of some body parts. If that’s not your bag, that’s fine. But before you criticize the lineup, be sure to know what it offers. We don’t think too many kids will show any interest in this line. Once again, Hasbro produced another range of figures that will serve Generation X, not necessarily the offspring of Generation X or the Millennials. The Boba Fett Mission Fleet figure is incredible. The figure comes with nine points of articulation, including a ball-socket head, two ball-jointed shoulders, two swivel wrists, and two swivel hips. There isn’t much you can do with this tiny articulation system, but there’s enough here to have the figure hold and pose the blaster rifle, as well as utilize the complex “Slave I-inspired” jetpack (which breaks down into three pieces). Boba Fett also comes with a removable jetpack (Boba Fett’s standard one), colored blue, which also incorporates the cape. There is no denying that you’ll get an animated feeling or spirit with this line of action figures. Boba Fett is exceptionally colorful, and we’re reminded of the Comic Packs version of the character released in 2009. The “Slave I” backpack adds enough play value here, but we imagine that if you’re a collector buying it, you’ll choose to pose Boba Fett with the jetpack and blaster rifle. We’re quite impressed with the Mission Fleet line of figures. Hasbro MUST focus on some aliens like Greedo and Bossk to keep interest from waning. Also, popular main characters like Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader are forthcoming or already released in this line as well. The MSRP is $7.99 per set and this is an extremely fair price for what you get included with each figure. Give the Mission Fleet line a chance. We’re confident you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
