Uncle to JANN TOSH and master of C-3P0 and R2-D2. The DROIDS help him discover a fortune mining KESHELS.
His real name is Putch Gundarian, but you know him as Uncle Gundy, thanks to the DROIDS television series. The easily flustered and good-natured Uncle Gundy is pivotal to the development of Jann Tosh. Uncle Gundy decided to take custody of the orphan after a speeder crash killed Jann Tosh’s family. Uncle Gundy part of the comic relief of DROIDS and quickly loses his temper with Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2), among other characters in this show. Kenner designed a colorful and caricature-inspired interpretation of the character with some exaggerated features, especially the stumpiness. Uncle Gundy comes with a purple hat, and a short-statured body type. The figure is reminiscent of a Keebler elf but with looks of angst (or constipation) on the face. Uncle Gundy has extremely short legs and a rotund torso. And Kenner decided to give the figure Ree-Yees’ blaster rifle, but this time cast it in black plastic instead of gold or bronze. Uncle Gundy, in all honesty, feels like a “filler” character in the first wave of DROIDS figures. While the character is featured in multiple episodes, there were so many others Kenner should have produced before this one.
