Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear) - Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figures

Gentle Giant Ltd. continually produces new characters for their top-rated Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figure series of collectible. These 12-inch scaled action figures recreate the unforgettable moments that original Star Wars collectors had when the original Kenner line actively produced 3.75-inch Star Wars action figures. Kenner consumed our lives in the best way possible with these miniature Star Wars characters, and they’ll never leave our memories. Gentle Giant Ltd. is banking on all of this because they need a market that will purchase large-sized replicas of the small 3.75-inch Kenner action figures. And we believe they’re successful in swooping us into this line and, at the very least, piquing our interest. Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear) is a long-awaited character in the Jumbo Vintage Kenner line. And Gentle Giant Ltd. should be proud of what they accomplished with this figure. For us, it’s one of the highlights in the line thus far.

The Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear) Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figure is a faithful representation of the 1980’s ESB Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear) figure. It comes with only four points of articulation. The head doesn’t move, as you know, since it’s part of the torso. Kenner produced many members of the Galactic Empire In this fashion. It’s something we got used to as young Star Wars fans. The all-white armor with black detail also captures the approach of the 1980 Kenner figure, and while the white plastic appears to be yellow and not as vibrant as the original figure, we still think they did a great job on the tooling and design. The Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear) figure comes with a removable vinyl kama (or skirt for short) and a blue Imperial blaster rifle. And just like the good old days, the Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear) figure looks excellent with or without all of its gear.

One aspect of the Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figures line that we’re not fully on board with is the packaging. We understand that Gentle Giant Ltd. may be limited with how they present these figures in the line, but the backer card that serves as a backdrop for all of these figures is disproportionate to the dimensions of the classic vintage Kenner figures released in the late seventies and early eighties. As such, the Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear) has too small of an Entertainment logo. The character’s image is severely reduced because the figure takes so much real estate across the card art behind it. The card may not bother all collectors that support this line, but it’s a bit bothersome for us. On the back, Gentle Giant Ltd. features a collection of other characters to help cross-promote the line. Overall, we’re pleased with the Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear) figure. It’s an excellent addition to the line.
