It's odd that the first Obi-Wan Kenobi figure in the Retro Collection is from a Disney Star Wars source, but Obi-Wan Kenobi (Wandering Jedi) figure is also interesting. You can almost see it as a vintage Kenner Episode I or Episode II figure, but of course, there wouldn’t be much difference between them and the character from Obi-Wan Kenobi since they all are part of the Prequel Trilogy. Hasbro again incorporated soft-goods materials with the figure and included an excellent addition of accessories faithful to the character in the Disney+ series. Hasbro used a luxe fabric to weave Obi-Wan Kenobi’s cloak. It’s reminiscent of the same material used for this character’s 6-inch and 3.75-inch super-articulated versions. And it doesn’t feel wasted on the 5POA version. The figure’s legs aren’t congruent, so the figure has a terrible lean. But with the proper angle of the legs, it is possible to stand Obi-Wan Kenobi (Wandering Jedi) upright. Hasbro utilized a “Return Of The Jedi” era way of bringing this figure into the Retro Collection. In addition to the “premium” fabric, Hasbro designed the lightsaber as they did for 1983’s ROTJ Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight Outfit) figure. Lastly, Hasbro included a blaster pistol, and you can place it into the holster a la 1980’s ESB Han Solo (Hoth Outfit) figure. When posed dueling the Retro Collection Darth Vader (The Dark Times) figure, the two look impressive, and it reminds you of a time when Star Wars was a lot more fun than it is today. We still feel that the Retro Collection line is overpriced for what it is. We always appreciate homage-paying toy lines, but Hasbro should find ways to make these cheaper. Other than that, we find this line genuinely charming, even if we’re not into all of the characters they produce for it.
