The Star Wars Retro Collection is inspired by 1970s STAR WARS figures and features original figure design and detailing! Continue your collection from the galaxy far, far away!

NED-B is a “case in point” example of how well a vintage Kenner-inspired modern figure can turn out. Sure, the figure isn’t screen-accurate, and it’s missing a lot of crucial detailing that the on-screen character has, but for a 5POA action figure meant to mimic the Star Wars action figures of 1978 through 1985, we could do a whole lot worse. That said, the Retro Collection is about as frustrating as it is nostalgic. As strong proponents of Hasbro completing “The Ninety Six” in both The Vintage Collection and Retro Collection formats, we understand why these action figures and packaging work so well. But why must first-time offerings begin in the Retro Collection regarding 3.75-inch action figures? Can’t Hasbro treat the line like a retrospective instead of inaugurally showcasing the newest and latest characters? NED-B is both fun and a good-looking action figure. It deserved to be introduced in The Vintage Collection, with premium deco and articulation. They produced Reva (Third Sister) – a total yawn fest, but they couldn’t design a super-articulated version of NED-B, a picture-perfect example of a bright background droid that collectors typically adore to add to their collections? NED-B comes with five points of swivel articulation. The design is simple but looks fantastic. And it’s rare when a droid comes with an accessory, but Hasbro gave us a welding tool accessory which we appreciate immensely. Too bad they didn't include the E-5 droid blaster with this figure. We sincerely hope Hasbro will find a slot to develop a better version in a 3.75-inch scale. We’re confident that would go over well with collectors. In the meantime, we have this version and a Disney Droid Factory version – another curious thing to consider here. Does Disney prevent Hasbro from making specific super-articulated action figures so they can re-release it first? Hmm, that’s a provocative thought.
