A legendary Sith Lord, Darth Malgus emerges from hiding with a mysterious plan that could secure his legacy in the annals of the Sith.
Hey, The Black Series 6-inch collectors! Hasbro produced all-new tooling to make Darth Malgus, so they will "bill it" as a "deluxe" figure because they think you're too stupid to know otherwise. But isn't this typically what happens whenever Hasbro makes a brand-new figure for the line? It either starts as an exclusive release with inflated pricing or a Deluxe figure to make you pay for their tooling costs. It's ridiculous. For years, Hasbro included small and large action figures in the basic lineup, which was the luck of the draw. Wicket W. Warrick or Yoda cost the same as IG-88 or Chewbacca, and it balanced out. Standard-sized action figures get labeled as Deluxe is slightly larger than the average 6-inch figure. And that's what collectors get to look forward to with Darth Malgus. The good news is that Darth Malgus turned out excellently, and it's sure to be a priority for collectors of this format. The figure matched the video game character well. And we're happy to see Hasbro devote so much time and energy to the classic video game characters because they are some of the most exceptional characters in the Star Wars universe.
Darth Malgus is a large and weighty action figure. Its arms and legs are thicker than most in the line, and it's evident why Hasbro needed to invest in all-new tooling to produce this action figure. They worked in a magnificent amount of detail in the figure. From the ribbed armor to the ornaments in the chest, Hasbro ignored nothing, and it replicates all of the traits of this character well. They also designed a thin, soft-goods cape that isn't removable. However, they ensured that they wove it in a way that shows the figure's contour closely. Most importantly, they kept the covering on the head manageable. It's close-fitting and shaped, similar to what we see in the Knights Of The Old Republic video game. The head sculpt is magnificent. Whoever designed this figure's likeness should be given an award. The skin color is slightly too light, but they captured an excellent facial expression. Darth Malgus doesn't look too happy, and that's what collectors want to see forever immortalized in the figure's face. Anger, angst, rage, and evil are in Darth Malgus' head sculpt. Then Hasbro added Photo Real deco and included the red "rash" on the left side of the face.
Darth Malgus comes lightly accessorized, but the character's primary weapon is the lightsaber. Hasbro included the lightsaber here, breaking it down into hilt and blade. You have some display options with the figure. And with its remarkable articulation system, you can achieve some fantastic poses. Much to collectors' chagrin, Darth Malgus comes in Hasbro's pious woke packaging. But the excellent news is that they're bringing back the environmentally incorrect plastic window packaging, so we can thankfully continue polluting the earth like the good old days. It's lovely to see Darth Malgus enter the 6-inch action figure line. Hasbro blessed 3/75-inch collectors with 2012's The Vintage Collection Darth Malgus (VC96) for over a decade, so it's good that they're catching up in the larger-sized format. Darth Malgus is one of the few Sith Lords you can see rivaling Darth Vader. And that is partly why the character resonates so strongly with Star Wars fans. We're happy to see Hasbro develop a quality action figure of this character, but they need to find ways to make them more affordable. There is no way Darth Malgus is worth almost $35 after taxes.
