The humid, forested world of Felucia is teeming with fungal life forms and enormous plants. Near the end of the Clone Wars, Jedi General Aayla Secura leads a mission to Felucia to rescue captured Jedi and stop a plot to poison the planet. Accompanying Secura is the 327th Star Corps of clone troopers led by Commander Bly. As the team picks its way through the dense foliage, Bly receives a transmission to enact Order 66. In an instant, Secura is struck down by the troops she trusted with her life.
The thirtieth anniversary of Star Wars not only brought collectors a fabulous new basic figure line, it also brought about some of the finest exclusives Hasbro has ever made. One standout example is the 2007 TARGET exclusive Betrayal On Felucia Battle Packs set. An army builder’s dream, it repacked some of Hasbro’s best efforts from the Revenge Of The Sith line as well as some “new” versions of previously released characters like the 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers. During the Revenge Of The Sith line, Hasbro really buckled down and thought of the best ways to bring us the phase II clones. For The Saga Collection and the 30 (77-07) lines, they really went above and beyond. The Betrayal On Felucia set is gorgeous and a three-dimensional snapshot from the Order 66 scene from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. Exclusive to TARGET, the set sold extremely well with just a few units making their way to clearance. All of the figures have been retouched in some fashion or another making this a worthy purchase even for the repeated figures. But perhaps the main reason to get excited here is the inclusion of two “new” 327th Star Corps Clone Trooper action figures. Clone Commander Bly has also been updated, but he is a step back from 2005's ROTS Commander Bly (III 57) figure (the third variant with the updated paint job) figure. We’ll get to these points in a moment.
Aayla Secura is a slight repaint of 2005’s ROTS Aayla Secura (III 32) figure. For this release, the figure has darker shadowing on her face and her brown leather outfit is also darker. Her skin, despite being accented with a darker wash seems to be colored in a darker blue as well. As you remember, the figure has decent articulation and a good likeness, but the portrait on the 2003 SW [S - P2] Aayla Secura (Jedi Knight) ('03 #11) figure is superior (as well as the color of the skin). It would have been cool if Hasbro somehow decided to kit-bash the two figures to make an even better one. Clone Commander Bly has been a great figure from the start, despite his multiple versions. This figure is a repaint of 2005’s ROTS Commander Bly (III 57) figure. If you recall, there were three versions of Commander Bly in the Revenge Of The Sith line. One had white ball-joints in the shoulders, the second had yellow ball-joints in the shoulders and lastly the third version came with the yellow ball-jointed shoulders and the figure was repainted to include the “mustard yellow” color on the fanning stripe on the helmet and well as the stripe on the chests and the stripes running up the thigh armor. For the 2007 Battle Packs figure, Hasbro took the original first version (with white ball-jointed shoulders) and repainted it. This time the figure has no carbon scoring marks or battle-damage.
One of the Clone Troopers in this set is a repaint of the 2005 ROTS Clone Trooper To Stormtrooper [Version 1] Evolutions Clone Trooper (The Fall Of The Republic) figure. For this release, Hasbro also removed the battle-damage (obviously to save costs). The other two Clone Troopers are kit-bashed figures that utilize the head of 2005’s ROTS Clone Trooper (III 41) figure and the body of 2005’s ROTS Clone Commander (III 33) figure. Hasbro of course painted them to match the 327th Star Corps. What’s more, Hasbro included a new “reverse” pauldron which now makes them screen accurate to the scene in the film. The Betrayal On Felucia Battle Packs sets is an army builder’s dream come true. Hasbro seems to be focusing on the events of Order 66 with their multipacks and this will do nothing but make collectors (and kids) very happy. If you’re keeping track, this set offers collectors five uniquely painted figures with two being available exclusively for the first time in this set. The Betrayal On Felucia set has value, options and offers overall great quality to collectors. We hope Hasbro keeps these awesome Battle Packs sets coming because they are really done so well. We really haven’t had any opportunities to quickly build up our 327th Star Corps armies in an affordable way until now. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity. This is a wonderful set.
