Lushros Dofine - TSC - Basic (SAGA 023)

In general, Neimoidians are pretty awesome Star Wars characters. If you grew up with the Original Trilogy, you likely see the resemblance between them and the Duros (from the cantina sequence in Episode IV). When it came time for the Prequel Trilogy, Lucas and company decided that the Neimoidian species would be significant to the Separatist movement. And while you may feel we’ve had our fair share of Neimoidian action figures, we probably don’t have enough when compared to their prominence in the films. What’s more surprising is that background characters like Lushros Dofine get a chance in the basic figure line before other more prominent characters. Lushros Dofine has lineage with Daultay Dofine (a character that appeared in Episode I) and served as the Captain of General Grievous’ The Invisible Hand flagship. He wasn’t the easiest character to point out in Episode III, but Hasbro thought it was time to make him as an action figure and he became a part of the fan favorite The Saga Collection. Hasbro is intent on releasing at least one Neimoidian figure a year. Welcome to the 2006 edition!

Lushros Dofine is an all-new action figure, but perhaps the use of the word “action” is a misnomer. Essentially a statue from the waist down, he comes with only eight points of articulation. It’s enough to have him stand around but certainly not enough to pilot The Invisible Hand. Perhaps the best part of Lushros Dofine is his included accessory. He comes with a beautiful control console that stands about waist high and has the detailed deco in the entire line. The console is silver, but the faces of the screens are bright in neon yellow and contain a plethora of information. We’re quite impressed on what Hasbro was able to include here. Lushros Dofine isn’t terrible, but he isn’t too fancy and will only serve as diorama fodder for your collection. Besides a ball-socket head, Lushros Dofine is nearly all swivel articulation and as you can imagine movement is severely limited. He is a simple action figure with the required articulation you'll need for his role in Episode III. While nice, a super-articulated figure is not necessary here. The beautiful accessories here more than make up for it anyway.

Wave 4 of The Saga Collection is known as the Battle Of Coruscant series. And as you can assume, there is a running theme with all of the figures in the wave. (Clone Commander Cody is the only exception to the rule and he falls under the Battle Of Utapau.) It must be quite a task to surround a group of basic figures around a few scenes from one Star Wars film. But they have cleverly done so many times in The Saga Collection. Lushros Dofine is one of those background aliens that make a scene of a film look really good. He doesn’t have any useful to offer the film than probably a very complex Expanded Universe back story (which you wouldn’t become aware of unless you read it). But Lushros Dofine does probably play a bigger role in the basic figure line. We love the obscure as collectors and Dofine certainly satisfies this definition. You may be interested to know that he was never re-released with a red miniature hologram. This makes him a bit rarer than the other figures in The Saga Collection. Rare, wonderfully painted and accessorized beyond expectations, this is one Separatist you're going to want in your collection.
