This bounty hunter trains clone cadets on Kamino. He is a tough and demanding drill sergeant. He expects his trainees to perform their combat exercises with perfection; anything less makes them failures in his eyes and not worthy to be part of the Clone Army.

Sometimes Hasbro’s mail-away exclusives have us scratching our heads. Adamant about promoting their Galactic Battle Game, they decided to make an exclusive vinyl version of the Galactic Battle Mat that includes some premium storage features and an exclusive action figure that a lot of kids and collectors want to add into their collections. We sort of rolled our eyes when we heard about this mail-away set, but after finally receiving it we have to admit that it is high quality. And while most adult collectors likely aren’t into the Galactic Battle Game, the collectible game cards and action figures stands are nice additions to the action figures. (But we really don’t need any more dice Hasbro, OK?) The Galactic Battle Mat has been cast from a very strong vinyl and is gate-fold to a certain degree. When you fold the mat in half, the two ends have corresponding Velcro pieces that hold it all together. And the white underside of the mat has 20 individual basic action figure pockets to store your figures as you travel from one tournament to the next.

Obviously the reason to go through all the trouble of mailing in your proof of purchase labels and sending your $6.99 check for shipping costs is to get our stubby fingers on the Sergeant Bric action figure. This cool yet surly Siniteen bounty hunter was brought in to train the Domino Squad in the popular opening season 3 episode entitled Clone Cadets. Essentially functioning as a drill sergeant, he whipped the Domino Squad into shape after they failed their first round of tests required to be promoted to partake in the Republic’s fighting Grand Army. He along with El-Les worked stringently with the new recruits but soon parted ways after Domino Squad passed their requirements. Hasbro did a fine job capturing the attitude and leadership of Sergeant Bric into the basic figure scale. Filoni was clever to use two alien species first seen in Chalmun’s Cantina to entice lovers of the Original Trilogy and hopefully pull in new viewers with each progressing episode. The action figure of Sergeant Bric is not entirely super-articulated, but the 12 points he does have should be enough to keep you happy.

The first thing you’ll notice about Sergeant Bric is the excellent sculpt and the brilliant paint job. Actually, the paint job is one of the best we can remember seeing in The Clone Wars line. Sergeant Bric has a very faint wash that brings a lot of character to his uniform and if you look carefully you’ll find lots of brush marks throughout his uniform. In a nutshell, he looks incredible. We’re sure many wished Hasbro included ball-jointed ankles here, but in all honesty we don’t think he needs them. Hasbro gave Sergeant Bric a very straightforward stance. He has no awkward leans which enables the collector to place him in action poses they desire instead of the way Hasbro decided. So there is a great deal of flexibility with Bric. He comes with a blaster pistol and a functioning holster. Sergeant Bric looks great when posed next to the 2010 TCW El-Les (CW47) figure and they are in perfect proportion to each other. There is little if anything to complain about with this mail-away. For a “free” mail-away item, we feel that this is a very generous package deal. Typically one action figure will set back the collector the $6.99 shipping and handling charges, but in addition to an all-new action figure, we also get the Galactic Battle Mat. That is a nice offer for sure.
