In collaboration with Lucasfilm, Disney Store is proud to introduce the Star Wars Elite Series, a premium line of toys featuring iconic characters from the expansive world of Star Wars. This exclusive collection is meticulously engineered and crafted with the Star Wars fans in mind.

Princess Leia Organa was one of the Rebel Alliance's greatest leaders, fearless on the battlefield and dedicated to ending the tyranny of the Empire. Daughter of Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, sister of Luke Skywalker, and with a soft spot for scoundrels, Leia ranks among the galaxy's great heroes..

Hmm. The Premium Elite Series Princess Leia is beautiful and confusing at the same time. Imagine if you will that someone at Disney Store took the greatest features of Cher, Lynda Carter and Carrie Fisher and then somehow worked them in seamlessly for this new line of mid range action figures. That’s sort of the vibe we get when we look at the Premium Elite Series Princess Leia action figure. Don’t get us wrong. We like the figure very, very much. It’s literally one of the nicest “12 inch” scaled action figures we’ve seen of the character to date. She isn’t perfect of course. Some issues plague her for sure. But dang it if this doesn’t look like a great representation of the characters we first saw back in 1977. Between the admirable likeness, the quality soft-goods and the finely tuned sculpted details in her accessories, Princess Leia is bound to make a big splash with collectors who are probably currently jaded with what Hasbro has been offering as of late. Again, it would be erroneous to label Princess Leia as flawless, but all the good she brings to the table may make you not care that she isn’t hanging around the definitive status range here.

Princess Leia’s head sculpt is good. But as we’ve mentioned in the opening paragraph, parts of her features resemble other beautiful women of the 70s. Her head has been rooted with corn silk hair, but it has also been given some sort of lacquer finish which has hardened the hair to smartly prevent it from damage by younger fans playing with it. Sadly, some adult men (like Ayem Mayhem) will not be able to style, perm and straighten this hair without permanent damage. Frankly, her “star puffs” are much too large and looks a little out of place on her head. While Disney Store may have gotten away with the larger size, the thing that makes them stick out like a sore them is how far the stretch away from her head. It may not be the end of the world for all, but it is a point of aggravation for us. However, that being said, it isn’t a deal breaker either. We’re still fond of this figure. Like all of Premium Elite Series Figures, Princess Leia is loaded with tight articulation and can be posed in a variety of ways. She is able to hold her blasters with both hands which is very nice, and you can pose her in action without her toppling over to the ground. She has been engineered beautifully.

Princess Leia has been give a gorgeous fabric that resembles white wool crepe. It has a bounciness to the touch, yet provides a beautiful drape on the figure. Her feminine form has been designed very nicely too, so this is what really makes the soft-goods come to life. It puckers above and below the belt line just like in the film. And the sleeves and hem of the dress break in all the right places. We’re thoroughly impressed with what Disney Store was able to accomplish with this figure. In all honesty, this gown hasn’t looked this good on larger scaled figures. Disney Store really knows what they’re doing here. Princess Leia comes with her signature blaster in addition to a stormtrooper’s E-11 blaster. This is where Disney Store needs some help. The accessories are MUCH too large for these figures and need to be scaled down quite a bit so the figures don’t look so comical holding them. She also comes with an interchangeable left and right hand and they’ve been sculpted in different way to accommodate weaponry or to hold her hood over her head (and other things). Keeping in mind that this is a kids’ range of figures (albeit an older age group dipping their toes into the higher end of toys), we think Disney Store has a hit on their hands. Now let’s see some aliens!
