They are some of the most legendary heroes and villains of all time. Champions of hope or followers of the dark side, they have all played a key role in shaping the future of the galaxy.

It’s the worst exclusive Hasbro has ever made, and Kmart sadly was the recipient of it (although it is pretty much unknown if this unannounced exclusive made it out to other retailers). What in the world was Hasbro thinking? The Legacy Collection significantly raised the bar when it came to quality action figures. Super-articulation became the rule and not the exception. And the sculpts (across the board with very few exceptions) were like no others we had seen to date. Collectors had walked with Hasbro for a very long time and it seemed that 2008 finally everything came to a head for the better. So why did they decide to dig out sculpts for the Legends Of The Saga multipack from lines as old as 1999 and as recent as 2004 to populate five popular characters from across the Star Wars saga and assemble them in one single multipack? We’re not sure, but we can assure you right from the start that this is a set you can easily overlook. You have all of these figures multiple times by now and in 2008 they look like kids’ toys at this point. This set offers nothing to the collector but pure disappointment.

Darth Maul is a repaint of the figure from 2000’s POTJ Masters Of The Dark Side (Darth Maul & Darth Vader) two-pack. Yes, exactly, you don’t need him again. Obi-Wan Kenobi us a repack of the figure from 2006’s TAC Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Commemorative Tin Collection (1 of 6) four-pack. It was a bad figure in 2006 (a retool and repaint of previously existing figures) and it certainly didn’t need another chance at retail. Trust us. Boba Fett is a repaint of 2000’s POTJ Boba Fett (300th Figure). The paint operations are noticeably different and is clearly the best figure in this entire set. Luke Skywalker is a bizarre repaint. He comes with extremely light blonde hair where it’s almost alarming. This sculpt has been used way too many times at this point that his body is cocked and cannot stand completely upright anymore. It’s tired and needs to be retired now. Also, the tooling is so overused that his hands can barely accommodate the included lightsaber accessory. How sad is that? All four of the figures that we have discussed thus far all have paint operation differences and typically they look worse than they have in the past.

If there is any saving grace here, it’s the inclusion of Darth Vader. Before you see a ray of light, we should mention immediately that the figure has a terrible center of gravity and not the greatest tooling. But it’s noteworthy because it’s technically a new figure here. Darth Vader is a repaint of 2004's SW [S - P3] Darth Vader ("Silver Saga Edition") Toys R Us exclusive figure which has some unique characteristics. The “Silver Saga Edition” figure was created from the body of 2000's POTJ Darth Vader (Dagobah) figure with the head sculpt from the Darth Vader figure included in 2000'3 SW [S - P2] Imperial Forces Toys R Us exclusive multipack. (And the latter figure is based on 2001's POTJ Darth Vader (Emperor's Wrath) figure.) As you can see, this is a first-time release of Darth Vader utilizes these parts and color scheme. Again, it’s no big deal because the figure is a waste of your time now. You absolutely do not need it. But if you’re a “one of everything” collector, you’re going to need this one to check off your list. The Legends Of The Saga set is a major disappointment. It’s overpriced, contains inferior figures, and is an enigma on how it was even conceived. It’s an easy pass for sure.

Darth Maul

Sith apprentice Darth Maul is a powerful weapon forged by the hateful energies of the dark side.

Status: Darth Maul is a slight repaint of the figure from 2000’s POTJ Masters Of The Dark Side (Darth Maul & Darth Vader) two-pack. The back of the box shows a "Sith Training" version of Darth Maul but the figure inside is based on his appearance in the film.

The "Silver Saga Edition" figure utilizes the body of 2000's POTJ Darth Vader (Dagobah) figure with the head sculpt of the Darth Vader figure from 2003’s SW [S - P2] Imperial Forces Toys R Us exclusive multipack. And the Imperial Forces Darth Vader is based on 2001’s POTJ Darth Vader (Emperor's Wrath) figure. Ultimately, this Darth Vader is a first time release.
