Sideshow Collectibles’ line of polystone Dioramas are usually very impressive. Only rarely do they fail to meet collectors’ stringent demands and standards. They nearly always succeed with creatures, but sometimes if the Diorama has a human character in it, that human character just doesn’t look that great. This can be said of the You’re Going To Regret This Diorama. Don’t misunderstand our comments so far. This pieces is extraordinary and we love what Sideshow Collectibles has done with it, but the reality is that it’s very hard to make human characters in this scale with believable face likenesses. The You’re Going To Regret This Diorama includes a spectacular Jabba The Hutt, a good Slave Leia and a pitiful Salacious Crumb. With each character we listed, each characters’ size exponentially decreases and with each decrease, the likeness becomes less and less accurate. The good news is that they all interact brilliantly with each other and we think the set as a whole is very cool. But is it worth its retail price? Well, that may be a different story....

First and foremost, Jabba The Hutt looks fantastic. Sideshow has managed to capture him in mid-strangle, thanks to the beautiful Princess Leia. One eye is bulging in pain while the other eye is wincing in agony. Jabba has probably the best paint job we have ever seen on a Jabba collectible to date. And this includes the recently released Jabba from 2010’s SW [SOTDS] Jabba’s Throne exclusive. There are limitless layers of color and the shading and attention to detail is almost miraculous. He sits on a very generic oblong base. It would have been wonderful to get his dais, but that’s not what the Diorama line is about because they focus on key action sequences and not necessarily the environments. A real metal chain wraps around his neck (and even goes into the polystone) via magnets and they provide a genuine look to how Jabba met his demise. Sideshow Collectibles thought these details through very carefully and the results are impressive.

Princess Leia is a slight disappointment in this set. She is too pale and although the shape of her body and the detail of her costume are nearly perfect, her portrait looks odd. She’s vaguely reminiscent to Princess Leia, but between the awkward position of her mouth and the wrong type of angst in her brow, she doesn’t accurately reflect the struggling Leia we witnessed onscreen as she murdered Jabba The Hutt. Her pose and position in this diorama looks a little bit effortless, so that is a bit of a disappointment. Salacious Crumb however is the biggest disappointment and not worth the extra price of the exclusion version. It is so tiny and fragile that it would seem he would break if you blew on him. The detail and paint job is inferior and he has been sculpted with a bad pose that just doesn’t remind us of the lizard-monkey we saw in Episode VI. But despite a weak Princess Leia and Salacious Crumb in this set, they all look pretty good together. Not worth the full retail price, if you can find this piece on sale, it really is the only way you should add it into your collection.
