Review: Bastila Shan - TBS [P1] - Basic (#20)

Posted by Paul | July 31, 2014 at 06:06 AM ET |

When news broke that Hasbro would be bringing forward figures from The Vintage Collection into The Black Series line, Bastila Shan was one of the first announced. Would you believe she has a completely new and much more accurate paint job now? It's really like getting a new figure. Learn more in our Research Droids Reviews today. Wolfpack Ultimate Gift Set TARGET eBay Deal!

Posted by Paul | July 31, 2014 at 08:46 PM ET |

Get the Wolfpack Ultimate Gift Set from TARGET on their eBay store for only $24.99 (discounted down from $59.99) with FREE shipping. Special thanks to JTA reader Ben Y. for the heads up!

Our friends at Yakface.com have posted a report that the 18 figure Fall wave case assortment that BanthSkull.com/JTA revealed has been "cancelled". As evidenced by the pitiful 3.75" showing at SDCC, this makes complete sense. It's likely those 18 figures will be broken down into two more waves with the next six figure wave getting shown at NYCC and the final 3.75" six figure wave shown for Toy Fair 2015 and with the move Hasbro is making by offering solid case assortments, there may no longer be a need for mixed cases going forward. Still, more must be investigated before anything is confirmed. (The March 2015 placard dates are making MORE and MORE sense.) Yakface.com alludes to receiving future information, so we will post an update as warranted.

Found! More The Black Series 6-inch Deluxe Assortment Finds

Posted by Paul | July 31, 2014 at 11:20 AM ET |

Found! We just found the new The Black Series Deluxe figures at (yawn...) TARGET in the Philly area. Oh excuse us! It's just that we have something more exciting in the works for our RDRs that we believe will make jaws drop. But don't worry, we'll get to these new store finds shortly!

The Black Series 6-inch Wave 4 Found At TARGET!

It appears the floodgates are opening up again! JTA reader seclorus snaps us this image of wave 4 of The Black Series 6" line that was found at his local TARGET in MT. It may be time to get back out there and hunt! Let us know what you find! (It's so encouraging to see Boba Fett and the Stormtrooper hitting pegs again!)

Review: Dak Ralter - TBS [P1] - Basic (#25)

Posted by Paul | July 31, 2014 at 12:05 AM ET |

We continue looking at new as well as some "newish" Star Wars action figures in The Black Series wave 4. It's now time for a repaint. And what a great repaint it is because Hasbro cast the face in flesh colored plastic instead of painting it that color. Check out Dak Ralter in our Research Droids Reviews today. Posted by Paul | July 30, 2014 at 12:40 AM ET |

As we continue our look at new Star Wars action figures, we look at one of the nicest figures from The Black Series wave 4. Hasbro has finally gotten the Snowtrooper Commander action figure right! And Original Trilogy purists will be THRILLED that there is no clone head underneath the helmet. In fact, there isn't a removable helmet here at all! Learn more in our Research Droids Reviews today. SDCC 2014: Hasbro - Your Questions Answered!

Posted by Paul | July 26, 2014 at 07:07 PM ET |

Here you go! Get ready for some more non-answers again! I also don't know how I let so many Episode VII questions get by me. We ALL should know those answers by now: HASBRO CANNOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT EPISODE VII. So we are NEVER going to ask them again, OK? They're on the "no no" list going forward. Whoever did ask will be banned from JTA. (Just kidding.) We do however get some cool info out of Hasbro which may be of some benefit to you, so be sure to click through for more!

It's an old SDCC exclusive, but it's quite serendipitous that it was announced during SDCC this year as a 6" exclusive now. See what you can/might expect in The Black Series line by checking out the original 3.75" scaled Shadow Scout (With Speeder Bike) from the 30 (77-07) line. See it in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Worried about missing him on HasbroToyShop this year? RobotKingdom.com has the Jabba's Throne SDCC exclusive up for pre-order for an acceptable $79.90. The issue? The shipping. I tested an order for myself and it came to $40. But if you can't take the risk of missing out from HTS, then you may want to order it now so you don't lose out on it. Limit of one per person and they aren't guaranteeing any mint pieces.

R5-G19: Definitely Utilizes Build A Droid Sculpt

Posted by Paul | July 25, 2014 at 09:40 AM ET |

At Toy Fair this year we reported that although Hasbro showed R5-G19 with a Build A Droid sculpt that the final release would be an all-new figure. We can unequivocally confirm to you today that the final release will indeed sport the Build A Droid sculpt. It will NOT be an all-new figure as Hasbro first indicated to us. This will elate some and disappoint others, but it gives us greater hope that the rumored C-3PO The Black Series 3.75" figure may also likely sport the Build A Droid sculpt too. We'll all find that out that tidbit later today.

Review: TIE Fighter - ROTS - TARGET Exclusive

Posted by Paul | July 25, 2014 at 12:25 AM ET |

But the TARGET exclusive TIE Fighter (Standard Starfighter Of The Imperial Forces) stepped things up dramatically for collectors. See why it set the stage for almost all future TIE fighter vehicles in the toy line ever since. Your Questions To Hasbro For San Diego Comic Con 2014: The Top 25

Posted by Paul | July 22, 2014 at 03:33 PM ET |

You submitted the questions and then voted for your top picks. Now we have compiled the top 25 questions to ask Hasbro as San Diego Comic Con this year. Please know that we will make a concerted effort to get all of these asked, but there have been tremendous shake-ups internally at Hasbro and there won't be a strong presence of reps to answer questions like in years' past. (Usually we have been able to talk with them at length in the past but this year they're running a tighter ship.) So please be patient with us as we try to scour for all the answers your hearts are seeking. In the meantime, click through to see if your question made the cut. Questions have been ranked by popularity. And if you see these questions and/or answers anywhere else, you know where they originated! Also, please feel free to start up a new discussion about your anticipation this year!

And if you're going to SDCC, be sure to visit DKE Toys at booth #5045.

How About WTF Instead Of DTF?

Posted by Paul | July 18, 2014 at 05:46 PM ET |

Yeah, WTF means "What The Force?" so get your head out of the gutter. It's amazing just how desperate we are to find something new and exciting on the pegs. It's hard to believe that fun The Vintage Collection days are long gone. Yet, Hasbro felt that it would to wise to hibernate the line. While we admit that The Phantom Menace TVC stuff was too much, they don't hang around as nearly as badly as the Discover The Force and Movie Heroes figures do. Click through for a report by Sjefke.

Do You Want To Know What Hasbro Said About Saga Legends Wave 3?

Posted by Paul | July 17, 2014 at 09:51 PM ET |

Many collectors are still looking for the Snowtrooper, Luke Skywalker (Jedi), et. al from the Saga Legends line. It's shocking to say the least. Remember when Hasbro told me at multiple media events that The Vintage Collection "greatest hits' waves had indeed gotten out yet none of us could find one figure from these so-called waves at retail, especially wave 14 (as well as others)? Well, either denial or complete confusion seem to be their tools of choice. JTA reader Daniel D., desperate to locate the third wave of Saga Legends, contacted Hasbro customer service and after a length investigation period, came back with an answer that essentially slapped him in the face. Are you ready? Then click through!

It's been on eBay for weeks now so you have had plenty of first looks at it, but if you haven't yet seen a better look at the SDCC exclusive The Black Series's Jabba's Throne set, be sure to check it out on eBay.

Our friends at StarWarsFiguren reveal carded images of new Star Wars: Rebels figures with a whole lot less obnoxious watermarking. This line includes figures based on the upcoming television show as well as the figures that make up the Saga Legends line. Enjoy. You can also find The Black Series carded pictures HERE and HERE too.

UPDATE: Our friends at Rebelscum.com have great high resolution un-watermarked images. Check them out!

Here is the final of the three The Legacy Collection Commemorative Tin Collection sets released as Kmart exclusives at the end of 2008. As part of their nearly month long online SDCC, Sideshow Collectibles mercifully teases a Luke Skywalker (Red Five: X-wing Pilot) 1:6 Scale Figure. Thank the Maker it's not another clone!

It's time to submit your questions to JTA so we can ask them to Hasbro for you this year at SDCC. Because SDCC is only a few weeks away, please be sure to click through and follow the rules. I have to be mean here for a moment and explain to you that your comments/questions will be deleted if you are unable to follow the directions, so FAIR WARNING. Sorry to be a drill sergeant here, but time is of the essence and we need you to help us keep this organized. JTA friend and affiliate Rich Alot will be at the event to take care of this part of the convention, and we need to make his life as easy as possible.... because there will be a lot (no pun intended) going on there. Sandtroopers First Revealed Star Wars: Rebels, SL and MS Figures

Posted by Paul | July 16, 2014 at 07:55 AM ET |

For anyone who might be confused about the latest Star Wars: Rebels figure images now showing up carded, we'd like to remind you that our friends at Sandtroopers.com (i.e. Dan Curto) were the first to break the news on all of them all the way back in May of this year (complete with visuals). See the original report here. Hasbro solicitation images of previously revealed products provided early by sponsors covered in watermarks is hardly breaking or investigative news.

Back in December 2008, JTA was the first to break news that these Kmart exclusives starting hitting retail. Now six years after the fact, it's now time to review the three The Legacy Collection Commemorative Tin Collection sets. We're also pretty confident they haven't been archived and reviewed by any other Star Wars fan site to date. Let's first check out the Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (2 of 3) Commemorative Tin Collection set which looks pretty, but do you need these figure again? It's the focus of our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Hasbro Hero Series Millennium Falcon

Posted by Chuck | July 15, 2014 at 01:05 PM ET |

What we now believe to be first rumored by JTA in our Crystal Ball report and confirmed by our friends at Rebelscum.com, Hasbro releases the official press announcement for the upcoming Hero Series Millennium Falcon. It is likely this was the BMF tease from our Crystal Ball rumor report which we broke first right after Toy Fair. Click through for the details!

Back in December 2008, JTA was the first to break news that these starting hitting retail. Now six years after the fact, it's now time to review the three The Legacy Collection Commemorative Tin Collection sets. We're also pretty confident they haven't been archived and reviewed by any other Star Wars fan site to date. Let's first check out the Kmart exclusive Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (1 of 3) Commemorative Tin Collection set which had been shipped with an error figure until it was quickly corrected. New Rumor: Latest C-3PO To Utilize U-3PO (Build A Droid) Sculpt?

Posted by Paul | July 14, 2014 at 09:27 PM ET |

Please take this rumor with another grain of salt, but we have received notice that the upcoming C-3PO on our most recent The Black Series rumor report may just be a figure that utilizes the U-3PO (Build A Droid) sculpt. We are desperately working to corroborate this new information and if we learn more we will confirm it immediately. (Special thanks to Mike Sidious via Rebelscum.com's forums for the image.)

You think you can run the Star Wars brand better? Hasbro is hiring for a Global Brand Development Manager for the Star Wars brand. Click through for more!

Yeah, with all the fabulous news/rumors just announced, you probably won't even care about today's review. UPDATE: EVEN MORE The Black Series 3.75" "Revealed"!?

Posted by Paul | July 13, 2014 at 05:04 PM ET |

It appears the floodgates are opening! OK, this continues the "need new underwear" state of collecting! Most are from rumor reports first published from JTA, but Stan from the Rebelscum forums has "confirmed' them as coming, or teased that they're coming and leaked a few new others as well. And it will make you SICK that The Vintage Collection isn't active right now! Anyway, take it with a grain of salt until blah, blah, blah. MORE TO BE REVEALED at SDCC! Click through for the latest!

UPDATE: Stan adds Imperial Gunner and Yak Face to his list – both originally announced in rumor reports exclusively from Jedi Temple Archives too!

Well, it appears as if our own gag order was lifted and even if it wasn't we're posting this anyway. Please know that complete details are still sketchy at this point, but now we have some character names to release to our readers. What follows apppars to be a full list of 18 figures that make up the first Fall wave of The Black Series (phase II) where Hasbro will release solid cases of these characters. This of course now differs from some of the information we received earlier. It now appears that the list revealed by JTA sponsor Dorkside Toys does indeed make up some of the 18. So we really don't know if there are even MORE action figures coming that aren't part of this full solid case batch. (At least that's the way we have understood this.) PLEASE TAKE THIS LIST and the DETAILS SURROUNDING it with a grain of salt until we hear it from Hasbro as SDCC very soon. Anyhow, click through and get ready to DROOL!

UPDATE: Crud. We had no idea our friends at BanthaSkull.com posted these rumors before us, although each of our reports is from independent sources. And differences exist between both including the fact that our report has one more figure listed, so be sure to read both. Anyhow, apologies friends. (They will make you work whole lot harder guessing who the characters are than we do. Ha!)

Hasbro got less creative when it came to the exclusive Commemorative Tin Collection sets, but the Kmart exclusive Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi (Exclusive) set had some decent figures in it. See it in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. New Boxed Image Of The Next Wave Of TBS6

Posted by Paul | July 12, 2014 at 07:26 PM ET |

Online retailer Andrew's Toys has posted new boxed pics of the next wave of TBS6. We shared them on our own Facebook page for you to see. Check them out! We really hope that isn't the new MSRP and that they're just charging more than the MSRP, because it's becoming a little ridiculous now. Sorry about the obnoxious watermarking too.

Review: Stormtrooper - SW [DV/ROTS] - 12-Inch Figure

Posted by Paul | July 12, 2014 at 12:03 AM ET |

The Stormtrooper 12-Inch Figure doesn't fare nearly as well as Luke Skywalker. In fact, it's quite disappointing. See why it just doesn't measure up in our Research Droids Reviews today. New The Black Series 3.75" Figures Revealed!

Posted by Paul | July 10, 2014 at 08:49 PM ET |

JTA sponsor Dorkside Toys beats us to the punch with releasing names of some of the new figures. But these AREN'T all of them. Click through to read what's coming (so far)!!

UPDATE/CLARIFICATION: These are NOT all of the 18 figures we talked about in our BREAKING NEWS report right below, but the timing is uncanny. Darth Malgus and Starkiller are the TVC carry-forwards JTA broke news about before Toy Fair. Luke Skywalker (Wampa Attack) and Darth Vader (Yoda's Test) were first reported by JediNews.co.uk at UK Toy Fair (before it got pulled by Hasbro) and Luke Skywalker (Wampa Attack) and R5-G19 were shown at Toy Fair this year. The only really new figure listed here is Leia Boushh. But this surprise announcement of Leia Boussh definitely puts more clout in our Han Carbonite rumor (the Crystal Ball Rumor Report) a few months ago as well that he is likely coming now. Oh, and that Imperial Navy Commander. Could that be the gray-outfitted version we mercilessly prodded Hasbro about getting them to make for us at Toy Fair this year? Because he wasn't listed as a TVC carry-forward in our original report. Hmm...

BREAKING NEWS: Preliminary The Black Series 3.75" Details

Posted by Paul | July 10, 2014 at 04:51 PM ET |

We have another exciting "rumor" report for the new phase II (blue) The Black Series 3.75" line look, but just like most other JTA reports, you can probably bet we all already know this will be true (we just can't come out and say it that way). Anyway, "nothing is official until blah, blah, blah" so click through and see the new scoop!

Jedi Con Exclusive The Black Series 6-inch Figure

Posted by Paul | July 10, 2014 at 12:52 PM ET |

Site JediBusiness.com on Facebook has revealed that a Jedi Con exclusive is coming this year. While it clearly appears to be a protocol droid like C-3PO, it's doubtful if that will indeed be him as the exclusive piece. Then again, none of us expected Jabba the Hutt's accessories to be exclusive either. Whether it's C-3PO with another exclusive piece, or TC-14 will be revealed July 28th.

Cue Mighty Mouse theme music.... "Here we come to wreck your day!" With articulation and paint operations only contrarians could love, we look at the Darth Sidious And Yoda (Senate Duel) (MS10) Mission Series set. It's a set that may have had potential if it was painted half way decently. See our assessment of it in our Research Droids Reviews today. From Scotland To Florida - You'll Want To Go Back In Time Too!

Posted by Paul | July 09, 2014 at 08:24 PM ET |

JTA Scottish reader Darth G. went all the way to Florida for a family vacation. While there, he found some amazing resources for Star Wars collectibles. I have to tell you, seeing these images was like a flashback to all of the golden collecting years we had with Hasbro. To think where we are now is so disheartening. It's nearly melancholy when viewing Darth G.'s images because we all know it will never be like this again. But without becoming Debbie Downer, click through and see a sampling of what he saw. Darth G. hit the nail on the head in his report. it's all about finding this great stuff on the pegs. Sadly, that major factor is nearly nonexistent in this day and age. If you want to, leave your own fond memories of this fun collecting period in our comments too.

Don't Call Him Sergeant Doallyn

Posted by Paul | July 07, 2014 at 10:24 AM ET |

Andrews Toys reveals Jabba's Skiff Guard. Just don't call him Sergeant Doallyn. Do you think his name has been changed to a generic one because of the Legends EU debacle, or do you think it's because there has always been confusion with who this character actually is (Brock Starsher, anyone)? Click through for more.

We continue to get back to basics with the 3.75" line. Because of frequent reader requests, we are running a marathon of the Commemorative Tin Collection sets, most of which were released in the 30 (77-07) line. Review: Acklay (Arena Battle Beast) - SW [S - P1] - Creature

Posted by Paul | July 03, 2014 at 08:16 AM ET |

We finish up the third creature from the Battle of Geonosis with the Acklay (Arena Battle Beast). It's a pretty nice design, but its articulation isn't completely "pose friendly". TARGET To No Longer Carry TBS6?

Posted by Paul | July 02, 2014 at 11:08 PM ET |

We are getting some reports that readers' local TARGET stores are no longer carrying The Black Series 6" line. While this has panned out nicely for some (they were able to get the Stormtrooper for cheap), there aren't full details on the accuracy of this claim. Before you leap to any conclusions, remember that it's July: convention/reset season. Has Hasbro maybe alerted retail that new assortment numbers are in the works? We don't know any of the details yet, so we have JTA reader TARGET employees on this like white on rice to help us make better sense of this all. Stay tuned! But click through for JTA reader Mike W.'s report.

Toys R Us Gets Ripped Off

Posted by Paul | July 01, 2014 at 10:04 AM ET |

Well, it looks like Toys R Us is the retailer of choice that got shanked this year with the "destined to fail" Cantina Showdown Greedo/Han Solo mutlipack. If they only knew that these two figures are already peg-warming in their stores right this instant. Buyers at huge chains like this need to ask Hasbro two things: are they retools, repaints or all-new figures and if this exclusive contains just repacks then why are you offering this to me? Gone are the days of The Force Unleashed or Republic Commando sets that set the bar higher than we ever imagined. Good luck TRU: you have been sold a bridge.
