Review: Super Battle Droid - TVC - VC37

Posted by Paul | February 27, 2011 at 01:02 AM ET |

We just want to know one thing, Hasbro. Why did you not utilize the enhanced Super Battle Droid sculpt included in the 2010 Geonosis Arena Showdown set for the 2011 The Vintage Collection version? 2012 New Packaging Revealed - What A Disappointment!

Posted by Paul | February 25, 2011 at 03:21 PM ET |

StarWars.com has unveiled a teaser of the upcoming packaging that will debut in 2012. (Yuck! We don't meant to editorialize so soon, but come on!) It looks pretty certain that this is the new look for the Saga Legends line and The Clone Wars line, and in all honesty, it isn't much too different from what we are getting now. (It's sort of like Rex appearing on the OT and PT stuff.) Click the article title above to sound off and post your own comments about this new packaging or click the image below to read the article at StarWars.com. There is already a lot of debate so be sure to give your own opinions. Does this mean that when figures like Ponda Baba and Rebel Fleet Trooper get rereleased, Darth Maul is going to be in the top right corner? Ugh! Oh, and just to be clear, The Vintage Collection will remain as is through AT LEAST 2012 (including The Phantom Menace wave with a possibility of the line reaching into 2013.

Review: Zam Wesell - TVC - VC30

Posted by Paul | February 24, 2011 at 01:10 AM ET |

In the Original Trilogy, A was for Ackbar and Z was for Zuckuss. And now that the Prequel Trilogy is all said and done, A is now for Aayla Secura and Z is for Zam Wesell. (Well, depending upon who you talk to at least.) The Attack Of The Clones wave of The Vintage Collection, including Zam Wesell, is simply brilliant and Research Droids Reviews checks her out. Simply put, she's another all-new gem in the mix and a very cool changeling. We hope that you'll also leave comments in our Facebook section and vote in our poll. The Vintage Collection Wave 5 Just About Everywhere Now!

Posted by Paul | February 21, 2011 at 09:46 AM ET |

If you still need wave 5 of The Vintage Collection, may we suggest making a trek our to your local Walmart? We found no less than four (4) cases of the wave and it was chuck full of the elusive Yoda and the newly showing up Luke Skywalker (Endor Capture) figure. Oh, and don't believe the lies of the shelf tags. These figures rang up for $8.96 each. Click through for the proof.

Review: Padmé Amidala (Peasant Disguise) - TVC - VC33

Posted by Paul | February 21, 2011 at 01:10 AM ET |

Padmé Amidala is a mainstay in the basic figure line. And with each release she's been hit or miss. The Vintage Collection has just released what may just be the best Episode II version of her yet. And what's gravy is that it knocks two outfits out at once (sort of the way an older figure did too)! Review: Senate Guard - TVC - VC36

Posted by Paul | February 20, 2011 at 01:01 AM ET |

You should be happy with this awesomely updated Episode I/Episode II Senate Guard action figure, but if you're not into the Prequel Trilogy, you should at least smile about a potential ROTJ red Royal Guard next. It's inevitable. While we don't have any inside information, it just makes sense that we should be seeing a Royal Guard soon, and hopefully soon enough where it makes it into The Vintage Collection! Be sure to catch up with Research Droids Reviews and see how Hasbro updated this very cool figure! We hope that you'll also leave comments in our Facebook section and vote in our poll. The Vintage Collection Wave 6 Found In Philly Area!

Posted by Paul | February 18, 2011 at 09:00 AM ET |

Well, at least what Hasbro is calling wave 6. (Did we fool you? How the heck do they come up with their case assortment numbers anyway?) The Attack Of The Clones wave has FINALLY hit hard in the Philly/Langhorne area at Walmart in particular with a few spotty TARGET finds as well. We are falling fast in love with this wave and are being persuaded to believe that it may rival the glory of the Return Of The Jedi wave. Extra special thanks to JTA reader David Del Vecchio who graciously wrote in to clarify that that "unknown" droid referred to in today's Q&A With JTA post is indeed R5-D4. We didn't know that R5-D4 appeared in both Episode II and Episode IV, did you? OK, if you did, you're more with it than us. This was big news today! This of course makes things very sticky and cloudy since R5-D4 from Episode IV has the red panels on its back while the Episode II version in the picture above doesn't. (Our brains are exploding!) TVC Attack Of The Clones Leaking Surely But Slowly In The East

Posted by Paul | February 11, 2011 at 10:17 PM ET |

On our way up to Toy Fair, we stopped at about four TARGET stores up the 1-9 corridor and found a ton of the Attack Of The Clones wave (although we have yet to complete the wave) in northern NJ. These are really making heavy appearances at retail!

Han Solo put the entire galaxy on his back! And his quick thinking probably saved Leia & Luke from being squashed mon calamari in the trash compactor.  You can relive that moments forever by purchasing the highly-detailed bookends from Gentle Giant.

Replica helmets are a hot item this week.  Pick up the rare Darth Vader Dual Signature edition helmet or place a backorder for the Sandtrooper helmet--arriving soon.

Review: Luke Skywalker (Death Star Escape) - TVC - VC39

Posted by Paul | February 11, 2011 at 01:01 AM ET |

Can Hasbro take a great sculpt and make it better? That greatly depends upon your own point of view. But they just released a great version of Luke Skywalker trying to escape the clutches of the Imperial hold while on the Death Star. Research Droids Reviews checks out the first new version of "Death Star escape" Luke Skywalker in almost a decade (and the first that's actually an action figure instead of some glorified statue). We hope that you'll also leave comments in our Facebook section and vote in our poll. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Don't forget we accept requests so e-mail us.

Review: Shock Trooper - TAC - Saga Legends

Posted by Paul | February 07, 2011 at 01:20 AM ET |

Everything changed when the 2005 ROTS III 41 Clone Trooper was released. And Hasbro made great use of this sculpt. It was the perfect base sculpt to make a Shock Trooper. But what some collectors don't know is that the 2007 Saga Legends figure is actually a repaint of the 2006 Skirmish In The Senate Battle Packs set and not a straight repack. If you don't know this then be sure to read today's Research Droids Reviews complete with a comparison picture to illustrate the differences for you. We hope that you'll also leave comments in our Facebook section and vote in our poll. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Don't forget we accept requests so e-mail us.
