Keeping in mind that the SWCO exclusive TBS6 Luke Skywalker (X-wing Pilot) is not a mainstream release, our friends at Yakface.com have proof that some of them are coming unpunched. If you recall, at NY Toy Fair, Hasbro assured us that these figures (The Black Series [Star Wars 40] figures) would come absolutely punched. An interesting development for sure. Check it out.

The Vintage Collection Fans' Choice Poll is asking you to please try again later if you haven't placed your vote yet. It's been "out of commission" for hours now. Between the oddities with the final results, the controversy of ballot-stuffing and the horrid and vile comments in the Facebook comments below the poll, I have to wonder if this is worth all of the stress and aggravation it creates. Maybe Hasbro would be better off just soliciting the various fan sites for feedback and just do away with this misery altogether. Despite this, we still hope your personal favorite choice wins. We aren't promoting any single candidate as we want this to be YOUR VOICE and not a choice dictated by an agenda (which by the actions witnessed is seemingly unwilling to stop with the group-think mentality).
UPDATE from StarWars.com: "UPDATE: Unfortunately, the poll is currently experiencing technical difficulties. We are working to fix it and resume voting as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience."

I know that Mark Hamill who plays Luke Skywalker charges an awful lot for his photo/autograph, but so does Daisy Ridley who plays Rey. It would be cool to meet them in cosplay: his Jedi robes and her Resistance base outfit in person respectively. If they appeared together at San Diego Comic Con that would cost you a hefty amount of money all at once. I mean, don't think I am trying to start any rumor about them appearing together at a convention. Thank goodness there are likely to be opportunities to see them separately down the road for different events. So in essence the option exists to see them paired together or individually at some point around the same time. It's six of one, half dozen to the other.

The 2007 TAC 4-LOM (30 41) figure has ALWAYS bothered me. He always looked too chunky for my tastes. I was disappointed when he was reissued without any tweaking in The Vintage Collection three years later. But as soon as I had the Disney Droid Factory "4-LOM" Build A Droid figure in my hands, I knew Disney got it right. Good friend Josh M. knew this too and repainted one of these Disney Droid Factory sculpts in the same color scheme of 4-LOM. See for yourself how much improved and screen accurate the character looks utilizing this sculpt. Josh, I need this! Please tell me how much!

So far we have: revived ourselves from fainting over The Vintage Collection's return, thanked Hasbro, and then offered suggestions to them about what repacks we want to see next Spring. (I am working on tabulating all that soon.) So now we want to do something else. Please suggest great figure ideas (that would fall under Adam Pawlus' "different enough to make you mad" category) – or perhaps better described as a "Repack and Repaint" wave (hold the repacks here/add more repaints). What do we mean specifically? Glad you asked. IF YOU'RE A CUSTOMIZER, WE REALLY NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE. (more....)

That alliteration worked out nicely. JTA reader Rivesjunctionite sends us an image of what his local Walmart received with regards to the 40th Anniversary TBS6 figures: one blessed case. This has been the general consensus across those who are finding these at retail. And then there are the Amazon cancellations and postponements. The bottom line here is you better buy them when you see them. It is likely that more are being produced, but it's mind-blowing that there aren't enough to go around at brick and mortar. You have to wonder if what retail is sitting on now (inferior vehicles and 5POA and over-packed TBS6 figures) is truly impacting in a great way newly arrving products.

It will be interesting if they will be able to order more stock in the future. Hasbro: here is our collective thank you for doing one of the greatest things for us since 2010. Officially announcing the return of The Vintage Collection at Star Wars Celebration Orlando was the highlight of most collectors. You deserved that standing ovation by the way. We pledge our devotion to TVC's return and promise to make it a success for you so that we never have to live through another period of time like 2013-2017 again. Thanks for dealing with the years of disappointment and criticisms. We apologize if the passion went too far. Please be sure to listen to the feedback you get. You're a relatively new team that must engage us and you're dealing with a population of people that are territorial and zealous longtime collectors. We can really assist you in making the most of this second run. Thank you again.

My intention was to post this days ago, but with the Fans’ Choice Poll nightmare I have been preoccupied fielding hateful emails which have included threats of lawsuits, death, and general disgust for me and the site. Then there are the social media and forums posts. I appreciate all of the heads up from our readers, but it is all meaningless to me. I called something out and it’s my duty to do so. I have championed for the return of The Vintage Collection for half a decade now (when others remained silent), and our collective interests – super-articulated 3.75" figures – remain one of the most important passions to which I cling. (These "people" have yet to realize that their hatred has no affect me. There is nothing they can say that will rattle me. In fact, it’s only helping to get JTA’s name out there more. We will surely gain new followers from this. All press is good press as far as I am concerned. It might help to know that I am like Judge Judy in a specific way, I don’t read the “fan mail” with the hate and criticisms. Anyway, as I stated, I have been meaning to post this for a while now. (more....)

This deal is getting worse all the time. Pray they don't alter it any further. JTA broke the news on this next Wave 11 case assortment. Sadly, it looks like Director Krennic will unfortunately remain part of this case assortment. But more disconcerting is that because of Hera Syndulla's delay, they've added another repack to the case: K-2SO is now part of the mix (which in our area is currently hanging on pegs for under $10). Why didn't they make the ERG x2? Robot Kingdom has posted the official case assortment (which we guess is still subject to change).

The Battlefront II panel was one of the biggest panels at Star Wars Celebration. The creators of Battlefront II revealed a great trailer and confirmed that it will feature a single player campaign that spans the thirty years between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The single player campaign will tell a canon story. In the campaign you will play as Iden Versio, the leader of an Imperial special forces unit known as Inferno Squad. The upcoming Inferno Squad novel written by Christie Golden will serve as a prequel to the campaign's story. The goal of the campaign is the bridge the gap between the two trilogies and to tell a story from the Empire's point of view. The multiplayer portion of the game will include all eras. The Prequel, Original, and Sequel trilogies will all be represented. Darth Maul, Yoda, Rey, Kylo Ren, and Luke Skywalker are among the playable heroes who have been confirmed. Based on what I saw at the panel, this game is going to exceed all expectations. Watch the full trailer after the jump!

Folks, this is the crux of the problem with opening up the poll generally to just Star Wars "fans" and not strictly to "hardcore collectors". All of these votes for Ben Skywalker are from people who never visit these Star Wars fan sites on any regular basis. It's not representative of the collecting community. You should be an intense member of some collecting community or a frequent visitor in order to cast a vote. This is a The Vintage Collection 3.75" super-articulated Fans' Choice Poll. If the EU is SO important to them, then they should campaigning for Hasbro to bring back things like Comic Packs and EU specific figure waves, not overtake the poll and remove the vote from the longtime and hardcore collectors who have been waiting for the half decade return of The Vintage Collection.

Ugh. There is another cheating campaign running for The Vintage Collection 3.75" poll, just like there was for The Black Series 6" Jaina Solo figure. There is a social media/forum initiative to get people, who don't even buy Star Wars figures mind you, to vote for Ben Skywalker (an Expanded Universe character). We are reporting this activity to Litzky PR and Hasbro so that they are aware. Hopefully something can be done to thwart this. This should be a poll JUST for collectors who will actually buy these figures, not casual Star Wars fans who don't buy figures and those who are just trying to support an agenda. We will let you know of any developments should they arise. We also hope our many colleagues participating in this poll are aware of this and that you prevent these cheaters from adding their input into your results as well.

Jedi Temple Archives wants to know what action figures released from 2010-2017 that you'd like to see repacked for The Vintage Collection's return in Spring 2018. We'd like to include all figures from the original TVC run in addition to those from The Black Series lines (all three phases) as well. There were some hard to get characters from these lines and if Hasbro must include repacks and repaints for the TVC Spring 2018 run, let's help give them some ideas so that these repeated figures will sell through. I have my own ideas, but let's her your suggestions too. See these action figures listed as follows:
The Vintage Collection (2010-2013)
The Black Series [Phase I] (2013-2014)
The Black Series [Phase II] (2014-2015)
The Black Series [Phase III] (Walmart Exclusives)

We have been getting feedback from "lurkers" (who we adore by the way) asking if they can submit their choice for the 2017 The Vintage Collection Fans' Choice Poll via email. Because the return of TVC is the greatest news in a half decade from Hasbro, we have decided to make an exception and allow these email ballots. But this is only for those that do not have Disqus accounts (we will be checking FYI). If this is you, we will accept ONE character nominee in the subject of the email. If you don't submit the email in exactly this way it will not be counted. Remember to choose one character from the 25 nominees found here only. No other candidates will be accepted. And as a reminder, this is only for readers who do not have a Disqus account. Emails MUST be received by 9 PM ET tomorrow, April 19th. Please email your vote to [email protected].

We have received clarification on the Fans' Choice poll this year from Hasbro. It will only be for a The Vintage Collection 3.75" figure. THERE WILL BE NO The Black Series 6" vote this time. Click through for the official response. We have decided to make things easier and keep the choices listed in the Fans' Choice Poll picks. If you want a different action figure for 3.75" than you did for 6", please simply change it in THIS LINK only.

Our Hasbro Q&A for Celebration Orlando is now available. After the earth-shattering announcement of The Vintage Collection's return it seems any other answers from Hasbro will pale in comparison. But hopefully we have some good stuff for you. Yes, I asked mostly questions for our 6" fans. You're welcome. Click through to listen and be sure to leave comments. Anyone who asks for a transcript instead will be banned from the site :-) .

We concede there is MAJOR confusion with the Fans' Choice Poll this year. Litzky PR sent two different emails that we took as an addendum and not as a replacement. Click through to see the correspondence. Not only do we have the two emails from Litzky PR, but we have also spoken with Hasbro directly about the Fans' Choice Poll and in our opinion made it clear that there is a 6" and 3.75" selection to be made.

You'll hear more about this in our Q&A, but we thought we'd share some important information with you first. The Admiral Raddus wave has been shipped per Hasbro, but it will indeed suffer from what longtime collectors know as "last wave syndrome". The production numbers for these figure are significantly reduced. If you see them, buy them. You have been warned.

"Is Paul Harrison still conscious?" Those words were uttered by Hasbro after they announced the return of The Vintage Collection for Spring 2018. After thunderous applause I started the standing ovation. I am glad my whining paid off. Suck it 6" collectors. (Just kidding!) The Hasbro Fans' Choice Poll 3.75" winner will NOW BE IN The Vintage Collection packaging! Oh, and The Vintage Collection will now be available everywhere and NO LONGER a store exclusive! Suck it Walmart!
UPDATE: Hasbro JUST confirmed with me that all figures will be super-articulated. Get 5POA out of your heads!

Nissan had an amazing booth at SWCO, with the showcase event being their Oculus Rift demo of the 360° Battle Test Experience. We got to sit down and talk about the Star Wars edition Rogue and try out the Battle Test simulation. If you are here at Celebration I highly recommend doing this. If anyone has every done one of these VR experiences you know how the environment can simulate a 1:1 experience. Getting to experience AT-ST and AT-AT walkers in a 1:1 environment is truly intimidating! Don't take my word for it, try it out at the show! If you are not here, click through to check out their booth at Star Wars Celebration!

Check out loose photos of TBS6 Commander Gree in our Facebook gallery. We also have some scoop. We couldn't help but notice that Gree's helmet coloring was off. Hasbro originally presented Lucasfilm LTD. with the correct silver detail as seen in the film. Interestingly, Lucasfilm LTD. asked Hasbro to change it to white. They also asked for revisions on the placement of scratches and battle-damage.

Longtime JTA reader and very good friend Joshua Makison stopped by our patch and trading card giveaway today and presented me with the most incredible gift I have probably ever received. He customized 2015's TBS [P2] Mosep Bineed to be the character seen way in the background of Return Of The Jedi. I couldn't be more impressed with what he did with that action figure. Thanks Josh. It was amazing meting your face to face. Thank you for overwhelming me with this precious gift, Josh!! By the way, Josh is normal-sized and I am the giant. :) Just think what Hasbro could do with all of their existing tooling. They too could make amazing figures like this for all of us.

Well, the best thing about Celebration Orlando this far was seeing our "rumor" report confirmed. Disney is ABSOLUTELY killing it with their impressive line of Droid Factory figures. And just as we had reported, Protocol Droids are front and center this year. We can expect up to 77 individual parts this year (fitting, huh?) with an initial shipment of around 40. But that's not all. We will see 3PO-series droids, CZ-series droids, RA-7 droids and characters from across the Star Wars saga including The Clone Wars. But that STILL isn't all. Astromech droids will continue as well with another D23 astromech, a new glow-in-the-dark Halloween astromech, a Christmas droid R3-H17, and a Droid Factory version of BB-8. But that's STILL not all. Disney teased a 3.75" scaled Sandcrawler with an exclusive Power Droid. Who cares about 3.75" collectors? Who does? Yup, you got it. Not that other company. Click HERE to see images on our Facebook page.

I couldn't leave the Hasbro booth without grabbing a shot of the Princess Leia image from the TBS6 [SW40] card back blown up hugely. The detail on how terrible the first head sculpt is was exacerbated by looking at it in a large size. It was just too striking to not snap a shot of it. No, no high def.... ehhh,... because of the camera....

JTA reader and good friend Mario M. has gotten his hands on the new Disney Droid Factory Protocol Droid arm part. The great is news is that is comes with ball-jointed elbows AND swivel wrists, just like the original Hasbro Build A Droid parts. Of special note, this new Disney Droid Factory part interacts beautifully with existing Hasbro droids. See images for more. Expect minimally 77 new Droid Factory parts to become available this Friday at a special Disney party and then they'll have general public availability at the theme parks beginning Saturday (at least what we were told). Good stuff indeed (and a BIG win for 3.75" SA collectors)!!

I am in Florida so I am cranky. And when I am cranky I am extra sarcastic. But I can't think of a better reason why some newbie collectors should just close their mouths and learn from the longtime collectors when I see eBay auctions like this. Be sure to read the description. Simply put: dude – you were scammed. Don't pass the scam on.... figures from 1997 just don't magically appear in new Hasbro products 20 years later.

JTA reader Richard F. just saw a television commercial for Good Morning America moments ago where they said that they would be sharing a The Last Jedi trailer announcement. We're not entirely sure what that means, but GMA did state that it is an announcement forty years in the making. You may want to set your DVRs.
UPDATE: The original TV commercial has made its way to YouTube already! It's not really trailer related. See it for yourself!

I don't know how else to respond to this image except for the very trite "LOL!" What the heck is going on anymore? Special thanks to friend Steve U. for sending this image in so we could share.
EDIT: Apparently the street date for these is March 1st. I wouldn't know since my stores haven't received anything beyond the TFA desert assortment. Thanks to those who clarified this for me.

Because we don't want that question to make it worse. This isn't doom and gloom and this isn't hysteria. I will even concede it's anecdotal.... in EVERY last store I visit in multiple states. But it's my observation and I am presenting it. I honestly have never seen the Star Wars toy line in a worse state than I do now. (more....)

With all that Hasbro has done wrong this year so far, they sure did something right by Darth Vader. This new and incredibly improved TBS6 Darth Vader based on his appearance from A New Hope is beyond what we ever expected. It may be responsible for dragging more people into the line. It's a perfect 10. Too bad you have to pay double the price for it right now as it's currently only available in the Legacy Pack. The Legacy Pack display stand and packaging likely won't be understood by most current 6" collectors, so it was kind of pointless to include Vader. Anyway, the review is coming soon, but check out the photos and notes now! Special thanks to new local collector friend Cameron for hooking me up with this set last minute!

Remember when I got crucified for posting this Op-ed piece? I just wanted to know how the MANY critics of it are making out finding all those TBS6 Darth Revan cases at Big Box retail? How is that working out for you? Trolling to commence in three... two... one.... In all seriousness, I don't discount this is a multifaceted issue, but that scanning abuse certainly DID NOT ameliorate anything for distribution. #betterthanascalpergettingit

Found! 3.75" collectors have something to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars with now! JTA reader and friend Steve U. has a friend in the Midwest who found The Black Series [Phase III] 3.75" die-cast metal figures at his local Think Geek store. You're going to want to buy two of these at the low, low MSRP of $16.99! If simply articulated slop metal (hey, that's what the Asians call it, not me) costs $16.99, it's likely we'll never see a super-articulated 3.75" figure at an affordable cost ever again. Sigh. These will be under $5 in no time.

JTA sponsor NJ Toys And Collectibles is reporting that they're expecting to see a few 40th anniversary figures showing up in June. It's unknown at this moment if they mean the red/black boxed figures(probably since Lando Calrissian is referenced) or the actual 40th anniversary "vintage" packaging. Check out more on their site! It's also likely that so far these two characters have been made available in solid case packs which is why these two were singled out. Come on ERG - SOLID CASE PACKS!

It's looking more and more like we won't be seeing the same type of Finn pileups this Force Friday that we sadly still see today from The Force Awakens. While we can't reveal full details, we can say that assortments are looking very differently than in past years. Keep in mind that this should be considered a rumor until fully revealed officially.
