Why would anyone think that he could get this price for these two ultra rare figures? Or will he actually get it and perhaps more? Hasbro hinted that they'd consider re-releasing these two figure's in TVC's prime, we wonder if it's a possibility sometime in 2018 or beyond.... Special thanks to Sjefke for the disconcerting reminder.

We are receiving a significant amount of reports that those who pre-ordered wave 11 singles at GameStop are receiving notifications that the figures are now ready for pickup. Did you pre-order your figures here? Could this be a new reliable way to pre-order single figures going forward? Now if they could just figure out how to work this into an online pre-order it would be sublime. This may be the future folks because retail is screwing over the Star Wars action figure line and it should be at its prime. Special thanks to Alex G. and Colin for details on this report!

We really don't mean to laugh at something as deflating as this, but the whole Star Wars collecting thing is just a complete disaster right now. Please Hasbro. Let The Vintage Collection save what's left of it. (i.e. follow the 2010-2012 way of thinking about the basic figure line and get those figures out there en masse). Let's recap things, shall we? Darth Revan becomes the most sought after TBS6 figure. Hasbro chooses other characters from the wave to release in solid case packs BEFORE Darth Revan. Darth Revan supply eventually becomes more plentiful after a grueling six month wait after its intended release date. Excited collectors wait for Darth Revan figures to arrive from Amazon. These figures arrive like they've been through a car crusher compactor right before arriving at doorsteps. Something has got to give. Special thanks to JTA reader Tpodielsky for sending these images to us as well as providing unintended comic relief. (We are however sorry that these figures came destroyed.)

Are you seeing this at your local brick and mortar stores? I wouldn't know as the Philly area doesn't get Star Wars products anymore and I haven't been on a store run in years. But we have received quite a few emails with concerns that express this is what is happening at stores that are getting new products. I would imagine that most stores haven't even received this yet, but what would I know. Let us know what it looks like in your area. Special thanks to Augstin for the store report! This image is from a Walmart in FL.

"I at one point had to say to Rian, ‘I pretty much fundamentally disagree with every choice you’ve made for this character. Now, having said that, I have gotten it off my chest, and my job now is to take what you’ve created and do my best to realize your vision." That's a direct quote from Mark Hamill. He then of course goes on to say how much he respects Rian Johnson after that.... blah, blah, blah. Check out the full article at Vanity Fair HERE.

Happy 34th anniversary of Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi! It has the greatest cast of aliens than any other Star Wars film. This article is part of a special StarWars.com series in honor of Star Wars‘ 40th anniversary on May 25. With Star Wars celebrating its 40th anniversary this week, fans all over the world have been reflecting on how this incredible space saga has impacted their lives. And for many fans, one of the biggest impacts came from the toys. The original toy line from Kenner, which hit in 1978, was massively influential, changing the way figures from any fiction would be produced. Today, Hasbro continues the tradition with an ever-expanding line from that galaxy far, far away. (more....)

Could the first wave of The Vintage Collection figures not exactly be what collectors are expecting it to be? That's what we're sort of hearing. While we are unable to reveal specifics, it is believed that the very first offerings may focus a little 'too much' on the recent Star Wars Entertainment at the time of its release than the established saga. Please remember to keep all rumors in check until officially confirmed by Hasbro and we'll be sure to keep you posted as we learn more.

We have received word that The Black Series [Phase III] wave 11 case assortment (the one with Lando, Emperor's Royal Guard, Qui-Gon etc.) was previously solicited in the UK but is no longer being offered (at the moment). We don't know what impact this will have on the USA stock. Rumors abound that this wave will once again be solicited closer to Force Friday this year. It will be interesting what transpires with this eagerly anticipated wave of figures.

A seller on eBay claims to have The Black Series [Phase III] Hera Syndulla IN STOCK. Is this a mistake or did she actually make it out on time? We know people who have reached out to the seller to actually confirm whether or not he'll be pulling K-2SO out of the case assortment instead!

Despite what one of our sources had explained to us, it appears that the Princess Leia Organa solid case pack did manage to arrive at some Big Box retail as well as some other smaller retailers earlier than expected. (We're still unable to confirm this aside from the anecdotal evidence below.) Princess Leia Organa was technically supposed to arrive the end of May. Han Solo and R2-D2 are still on tap for later this year. If this is what solid case packs means for retail, I am not sure how I feel about it. This seems more disastrous than bad case assortments to me. In order for this to work, it seems it needs to be an all or none type of ordering, meaning all characters in an assortment need to arrive as solid case packs together. Then once a certain character sells out the retailer should be able to reorder it. But what do I know?
Posted by Paul | May 18, 2017 at 11:26 AM ET |
Oh ye of little faith! Despite a second round email blast warning that collectors’ orders might be cancelled for lack of inventory by a certain date, collectors across the land are finally getting their The Black Series [Star Wars 40] Han Solo and R2-D2 figures Walmart orders – but not without those annoying stickers! So far we have not heard of any order cancellations at all. If yours was cancelled, please be sure to let us know! Special thanks to JTA reader Christian C. for the confirmation and image.

THERE ARE NO PRINCESS LEIA ORGANA SOLID CASE PACKS. Not yet at least. JTA broke the news that there WILL BE solid case packs of Han Solo and Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) later in the year. Leia's solid case pack doesn't ship until the end of this month. But just because you might be finding a ton of Leias (or Lukes or Obi-Wans) at your local stores doesn't mean that they're coming from solid case packs. Whether there weren't enough cases to go around, or the bad case assortments created a backlog of the two-per-case figures, what you're seeing has nothing to do with cases full of eight Princess Leia Organas – heaven help us if this does come to pass.
Posted by Paul | May 15, 2017 at 07:47 PM ET |
We can blame Hasbro for our collecting misfortunes all we want when it comes to bad case assortments and distribution, but when you see stuff like this you really have to wonder if our brethren are just as guilty for the mess Star Wars collecting is in at the moment.

We're honestly surprised to see how much confusion still exists with The Black Series 6" line. (Maybe we shouldn't be surprised since communication from Hasbro isn't the greatest.) However, that being said we hope that this brief article will clear up some details that collectors of the line are still speculating over and for which they don't yet to seem have answers. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. We're getting quite a few emails (again) that those who successfully pre-ordered The Black Series [Star Wars 40] Han Solo and R2-D2 figures are getting out of stock alert notices. Walmart is explaining via email that these collectors' orders will be cancelled if they can't fulfill it May 21st. While there is always room for concern, this happened with the last batch of figures they received. And before the deadline date (as shown in the correspondence below) I received my figures with no problems whatsoever. In short, you may be out of luck, but there is certainly a strong possibility you will get your figures too like I did. Remember, Walmart is a "great retail partner" with Hasbro and I am sure they are working closely together to meet stock demands.

Dear Maker, please make this stop. The Force Awakens is so 2015 and no one wants Rey and Episode VII Han Solo anymore. But that's what JTA reader Mark's local TARGET store in Plano TX just received to fill the 40th anniversary end cap. Oh, and it looks like this store is being blocked from getting new TBS6 figures as evidence by the Cassian Andor and Jyn Erso also prominently featured here too. Distribution MUST correct itself by Spring 2018, Hasbro. PLEASE DON'T DEACTIVATE The Vintage Collection by blocking any future wave assortments because it was killed by wave simply releasing wave 1....

Or is Disney selling their conscience down the river to make licensing fees on the $300 this collectible costs? Was that rumor about no more "Slave Leia" figures that originated at MakingStarWars.net a bunch of malarkey or does it not apply to metal collectibles like this one? Sideshow Collectibles has put up a pre-order for a pewter Princess Leia (Slave Outfit) figurine by Royal Selangor. Interesting, huh?

JTA reader Marcus T.W.W. from Singapore sends us evidence that a running change has been made to K-2SO: red pupils have been added. As JTA exclusively reported, K-2SO is being carried forward in wave 11 to replace Hera since she will experience a delay. We're probably seeing this update now because of this. We don't think the update improves the figure at all however, but it is certainly more interesting news than text styles on card backs or something else irrelevant, huh?

If you recall there have been some strange posts recently at Jedi Temple Archives. One was HERE. And one was HERE. Well, a list has leaked which interestingly perfectly lines up with those strange posts. What a coincidence! I am sure the list will surface somewhere, but we cannot be complicit or involved with it.

Goodness gracious me! I nearly PASSED OUT when I entered the Star Wars aisle at my local Toys R Us in Northeast Philadelphia. It's not that I needed anything, it's that there actually were new products on the shelves since Rogue Friday (aside from some store exclusives) last September. The new stuff was right on time for Star Wars Day. Also of note, all Star Wars products are on sale for 25% off through the end of today. If I had the remotest of confidence that stores would actually have something I might have taken the day off from work.

Hasbro – the season has arrived to bring back the Expanded Universe Comic Packs. Longtime collectors were very saddened when the line was unceremoniously cancelled during the Legacy Collection (with two exclusives released in the Star Wars [Shadow Of The Dark Side] line). There is clearly a large market for both Legends and current canon EU as evidenced by the last couple of Fans’ Choice Polls, and in all honesty it isn’t really fair for the movie characters to compete against these characters who have zealous support from non-collectors. Doctor Aphra should be in a Comic Packs set (as a Fans' Choice winner), not a Fans' Choice winner in The Vintage Collection. (more...)

The Force Awakens 5POA figures are making their rounds at various discount chains. JTA reader Bryan L. sends us a report from 99 Cents Only store. These figures rang up for $3.99 just to be clear. Yes, it's confusing. Anyhow, from what we have learned recently, expect to see more TFA "dumping" in the near future at other discount chains.

It was inevitable. Poor case assortment ratios always will lead to overstock of the more common figures. Hasbro Toy Shop's eBay store updates with The Black Series [Star Wars 40] with all three double-packed figures including Princess Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker and Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi. Remember. Putting figures on an eBay store is NOT a sign of good sales performance. Can we expect $10 figures soon?

Either this TARGET is in denial, this store wants to party like it's 1999, or it's all part of an elaborate bar code scam. (I have personally witnessed this scam myself at TARGET once.) JTA first time news story submitter Keven M. sends us a crazy store report of two POTF2 era figures in a sea of non-selling TFA and RO products. Did you ever think retail would look this dreadful? I wonder if we'll see those TFA and Rogue One figures on TARGET's pegs in 2034?
Posted by Paul | May 02, 2017 at 02:24 PM ET |
Uh-oh. Better get Maaco. It looks like Hasbro Toy Shop has permanently removed the TBS6 [SW40] Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) and Han Solo figures from their site. (They're probably swimming in Lukes, Bens and Leias at this point. Could this be the ned of an era? Smart case assortments are key to healthy distribution! Special thanks to friend Steve U. for paying attention to this.
