Specialist Stormtroopers stationed at the top secret Imperial military headquarters on Scarif, Shoretroopers patrol the beaches and bunkers of the planetary facility.

OK, so let’s get over the fact that Hasbro named this action figure with the wrong designation. It’s really not the end of the world. This has occurred many times in the past. This is just a plain old Scarif Stormtrooper, not the more colorful Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader that was released as a basic figure in The Black Series [Phase III] 6” line along with Director Krennic (27) and C-3PO (Resistance Base) (29). Despite being named incorrectly, it's actually better that we got the regular trooper (for now). Hasbro should have made the Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader (28) 6” figure the Walmart exclusive and released the exclusive 6" Scarif Stormtrooper as the basic version so collectors could more easily build their armies. Right now, 3.75” super-articulated collectors (isn’t it a shame this has to be qualified now?) don’t have a “squad leader” to oversee their own armies, but hopefully Hasbro will get smart and release a running change of the Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader character whenever they decide to repack this figure instead. If you’re desperate for one, you can defer to 2016’s RO Moroff/ Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader Two-Pack set and use that figure if you wish in the meantime. But we’re hopeful that Hasbro will give us a super-articulated version at some point. It’s really a necessary and merciful request and hopefully they’ll listen to fans. In short, collectors are going to fall head over heels for the Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader (who we’ll just call the Scarif Stormtrooper from here on out). It has exceeded our expectations greatly and Hasbro has reaffirmed they really know how to do troopers brilliantly.

Maybe it's easy to get excited over troopers more than human characters, but this one just feels worlds above what Hasbro has released in the recent past. The Scarif Stormtrooper has everything fans of super-articulated 3.75” collecting adore: fabulous articulation, brilliant paint ops and a sculpt that is better than you might believe is possible, but this trio of goodness just works even harder here. This success is no small feat. And it proves to us how much time and energy Hasbro is wasting focusing on things that collectors just don’t want. If they’re able to make incredible classically-scaled action figures in the original 3.75” scale look this great, then they should be focusing on it. We’ll pay full retail for these, no bones about it. Anyway, the Scarif Stormtrooper is truly a work of art. The sculpt is as utilitarian as it is fluid. While it contains many pieces of bulky armor, the figure can be posed in a wide array of poses thanks to the wonderful articulation system it boasts. Loaded with 29 points of articulation, Hasbro has been enhancing 3.75” figures with swivel thighs which add even more movement to already well-articulated action figures. Aside from the swivel thighs and the ball-socket head, the rest of the Scarif Stormtrooper has been given ball-jointed articulation. This includes the wrists and hips; two areas that often don’t receive this premium articulation. The Scarif Stormtrooper is able to achieve pretty much any pose you desire. It can’t fold into a pretzel of course, but we challenge you to find a pose that isn’t achievable. You’ll have more ease than difficulty. We guarantee it! Clearly, the Scarif Stormtrooper meets every functional requirement of what a super-articulated action figure should be.

How about that deco? Well, we’re pleased with the extraordinary paint operations this figure has received. It may appear odd to some newer fans, but we are very happy with the final results. For years we’d complain how the clone troopers and stormtroopers look too clean and white. Hasbro would rarely give these action figures dirt or wear on their armor parts. This final deco was always part of the final touches of an action figure in most Hasbro Star Wars lines. But in 2008 Hasbro stated that they need to discontinue this because of cost. All of a sudden the clones in The Clone Wars toy lines went from having brilliantly gorgeous dirt applied to them, and then within a few short months the same figures began to arrive to retail with sterling white finishes instead. Collectors were bummed. And in all honesty, it's not until 2015 that we started seeing this return to the toy line. Admittedly, the approach is different now. Instead of a final wash, the battle-damage and dirt now looks like it has been applied in a “dot matrix printer” fashion. In high resolution photography it looks very obvious (and sometimes a bit contrived), almost like newspaper print. But when looking at the figures with human eyes they actually look pretty fantastic. That’s where we’re at with the Scarif Stormtrooper. The figure looks outstanding, even with this newly applied deco for dirt and battle wear. First and foremost, the Scarif Stormtrooper’s base paint job is astounding. The lines are super clean and the applications have been beautifully added. You’re going to be thrilled with how incredibly this figure looks. Hopefully all who want this figure will have ease finding him. Now we just need the rest!
