Obi-Wan holds onto hope that he and Padmé can turn Anakin back from the dark side. But on Mustafar, he realizes that all is lost and Anakin has been consumed by evil. Obi-Wan is vicously attacked by Anakin and battles for his life in a climactic duel surrounded by molten lava rivers.

The purpose of the Saga Legends line was to repackage some of Hasbro's greatest action figure hits to get them back out to retail shelves. After an amazing collection of reintroduced action figures in 2007, Hasbro is back with The Legacy Collection reintroducing some new figures (as well as some repeats already part of the 2007 collection). Hasbro needs to keep the most popular characters available to the public and instead of bogging down the main line with these figures, they're doing via Saga Legends now. There is no "Fans' Choice" options in The Legacy Collection, but Hasbro is adding some great options for kids and collectors. We're confident that it's destined to be a hit again. Critics can find the Saga Legends line a little bit cookie cutter now, but at least Hasbro is augmenting the main lines with a cast of characters that are sure to please and interactive with the focus of the new approach. At the same time, it's a bit disappointing. We have constantly advised Hasbro that they needed to change up things a little bit. Let there be a Fans' Choice poll again.... or something.

Hasbro has now chosen the very first released and numbered figure of 2008 as the next figure in The Legacy Collection Saga Legends line. Everyone now has a second opportunity to purchase the 2008 TAC Obi-Wan Kenobi (08 01) figure. This "Mustafar duel" version of Obi-Wan Kenobi is certainly worthy of re-release. It's great to see him once again. Based on this specific scene appearance from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, this, for us, is the definitive version of Obi-Wan Kenobi as a Jedi Master. It isn't perfect, but it just looks incredible even despite his issues. The biggest issue for Obi-Wan Kenobi is the thickness in his lower body section, his hips for lack of a more descript location. He is looking a tad chunky in this area. It's still a great choice for the Saga Legends lineup. Obi-Wan Kenobi sports and impressive 25 points of articulation which allows him to be posed in an infinite amount of ways. He can even hold the included lightsaber fairly well but it will fall out of his hands rather easily if you're not careful. He comes with no other accessories. A soft-goods robe would have been wise here.

If you recall, Obi-Wan Kenobi does date back to 2005. Hasbro used most of the awesome 2005 ROTS Obi-Wan Kenobi (III 55) action figure to make this one. They improved the things that needed improving to a most satisfying degree and as a result have developed a near-definitive version of this character. The figure likely won't overstay its welcome. We can't foresee that happening any time soon either. You are likely already familiar with most of this figure's body already, but the detail that wowed collectors when it was released in January 2008 was that the figure was updated with the much-requested ball-jointed hips in addition to giving the figure an all-new portrait. We truly love how this figure looks. For us it will remain one of the best Episode III Obi-Wan Kenobi likeness Hasbro will make. It totally makes sense why they haven't updated him further. In all honesty, we don't expect Hasbro to improve it by much more if at all. As with all Saga Legends figures in The Legacy Collection, Obi-Wan Kenobi comes with Clone Gear/Battle Gear which means an arsenal of extra blasters and blaster rifles.
