With his customized Mandalorian armor, deadly weaponry, and silent demeanor, Boba Fett was one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy.

There’s another celebratory Boba Fett figure commemorating the 40th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back! This time, Hasbro adds Boba Fett (Carbonized) to this sub-line of collectible figures to help develop and diversify it a little bit more. Boba Fett (Carbonized) was an obvious choice for the “carbonized” sub-line of 6” action figures. Everyone seemingly loves Boba Fett, and all of the action figures produced based on the on-screen character do quite well in the Star Wars toy line. A Fan Channel exclusive, Boba Fett (Carbonized), is readily available at your favorite online shop. If you’ve purchased any previous 6” Boba Fett action figure, then you should know what to expect. Hasbro hasn’t made any upgrades or improvements to this tooling, and aside from varying paint job applications, nothing else sets Boba Fett (Carbonized) apart from any other version. Hasbro also updated the weapons. They now have a “carbonized” finish on them as well. Also, interestingly, Hasbro updated the soft-goods cape of this figure. They’ve utilized a shiny fabric to give the illusion that the soft-goods have been “carbonized.” But aside from these differences, everything else is the same.

An interesting choice to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, Hasbro is choosing some of the Star Wars saga’s most famous villains and adding them into this specialized format. They’ve already released the Stormtrooper. Now we have Boba Fett. And Hasbro added Darth Vader to the roster to fill things out a bit more. This figure is part of a novelty line of action figures. So, if they don’t interest you, it’s acceptable that you can pass on them. Admittedly, Boba Fett (Carbonized) is a beautiful action figure. We’re not sold on whether it fully works for the 6” scaled style, but it’s an acceptable effort, and the final figure turned out beautifully. Sometimes the pearly finish of the “carbonized” figures gives some figures an odd finish. Boba Fett (Carbonized) may fall under this banner. The Stormtrooper looked excellent in this finish. Some will find Boba Fett (Carbonized) a pleasure to add to their collection, while others will see it as a waste of time and money. Boba Fett (Carbonized) is a bright and shimmery action figure. Many collectors prefer realism to gimmicky finishes. But others are into this celebratory collection of action figures. You’ll have to decide for yourself if this action figure is for you or not.

Hasbro didn’t do any tooling update for Boba Fett. Hasbro put all energies for this figure in its deco. The figure comes with an astounding 30 points of articulation and includes ball-socket hips, which we felt for years should have been included in the 3.75” scale. Some action figures should not be made without this premium articulation. Boba Fett (Carbonized) is one example of a character that ALWAYS needs these points of articulation. What’s unfortunate in Boba Fett’s case is that the pouches prevent full range of motion of the ball-jointed hips. This inhibited movement is as frustrating as it is sad. We don’t understand why Hasbro will put so much effort into something like enhanced articulation only to have it diminished by a sculpted design that inhibits it. But no matter what issues Boba Fett (Carbonized) has, there is no denying that it is a fantastic looking action figure if you can accept the paint job Hasbro gave it. Boba Fett comes with three accessories, including a removable jetpack, blaster rifle, and blaster pistol. They’re the same accessories we’ve been receiving for years from Hasbro. No matter your choice, there will be a market for the “carbonized” figures. The packaging is gorgeous, and the figures complement it. It’s a win-win for most.
