Although typically expected by collectors to be primarily a repaint, retailer exclusives like those available at Amazon, Target, and Walmart can ultimately surprise Star Wars fans. Take an example like Migs Mayfeld. While the figure notably uses existing tooling from a character released during the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story era, Hasbro tooled a bunch of new parts, too, since they didn’t have everything in place to produce a screen-acurate version of this character from The Mandalorian. Early in 2022, Hasbro released an incorrect version of Migs Mayfeld, based on the character’s appearance on Morak, because they accidentally painted a red armband on the character’s left arm. This ranking designation was exclusive to Din Djarin. Coincidentally, earlier versions of The Vintage Collection Migs Mayfeld action figure also came with that red armband, but Hasbro quickly got a correction into production expediently, and the new version is shipping concurrently with the error. So, look out for both versions if you have to have them all! It seems utterly random on who is getting what at the moment, but be on the lookout.

Migs Mayfeld is a kit-bashed figure that is nearly 50% new. The legs and cod section are from 2016’s TBS [P3] Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader figure . As you know by now, the legs on this figure are terrible. You can’t bend the knees meaningfully, and the ball-jointed hips and swivel thighs won’t help this situation much at all. However, most of the upper body is all-new. Aside from the reused hands, the arms, torso, skirt, and portrait are all-new here, and it makes us eager for other characters from the Star Wars saga that use this outfit, including those from Solo: A Star Wars Story. They may as well be potential candidates now. Hasbro made all the parts interact seamlessly, and the new paint operations are impressive. Hasbro worked in a lot of weathering and battle-damaged details throughout the armor, giving Migs Mayfeld a believably realistic look. You’ll love what Hasbro did here, as they produced a precise action figure for the character we see in The Mandalorian and Morak. It’s not a perfect specimen, but we should commend Hasbro for its efforts. But why did this have to be an exclusive?

The head sculpt on Migs Mayfeld is pretty good. We wouldn’t claim it’s a perfect likeness to actor Bill Burr, but Hasbro did an admirable job making the portrait resemble this character. The tooling for the portrait is all-new, and when compared to 2022’s TBS [P4] Migs Mayfeld (Morak) (TM15) figure, it does pale in comparison a little, but other parts, like the new armor pieces, look better than the 6-inch figure in our opinion. There are plusses and minuses for both figures. You’ll notice that the paint schemes differ quite a bit between the two scales. For accessories, we get a respectable amount here, but nothing extraordinary. Hasbro included an all-new removable helmet that fits perfectly over the figure’s head. They also included the standard blaster for this type of character, so you have that too. Overall, we’re impressed with how well Hasbro designed Migs Mayfeld. And we’re thrilled they corrected the long-running error of the red stripe on the arm. They haven’t even updated the 6-inch version yet, so that’s a plus. This figure is a Target exclusive with an MSRP set at $14.99. We hope everyone finds it.
