So, Hasbro doubled down and made Jabba The Hutt's palace Boba Fett's Thron Room instead. And they did that to pour salt on the wound? Or do they genuinely believe that Disney Star Wars is here to save the day? What a significant risk they took using The Book Of Boba Fett entertainment logo, especially the same year as the 40th Anniversary of Return Of The Jedi. The box art photography could be much better and accurately capture the magic that the indelible mark Kenner's photography left on our lives. But despite all the angst of not having this long-awaited product from an Original Trilogy Star Wars source, we're happy to report that Boba Fett's Throne Room is an exciting, obscenely expensive, but gorgeous and a must-have addition to your collection if you're a love of all things "Jabba The Hutt." Hasbro packaged Boba Fett's Throne Room uniquely. The colorful outer packaging houses three separate cardboard boxes containing the playset's various parts. This set has dozens of decorative accessories and multiple structural sections, and Hasbro did a fantastic job organizing and managing them all within the packaged inserts. You'll feel that the structure of "Jabba's Palace" is lightweight, and it is. But it's also sturdy and holds together well. The tedious part of setting Boba Fett's Throne Room is aligning the decor per the direction booklet. Some surfaces could be smoother or flat, making situating the many pieces challenging, albeit not impossible. If you have man-hands, you'll likely knock things over more than once, so don't lose patience and don't become aggravated. It's worth taking the time to set up everything "just so."

Hasbro designed, tooled, and manufactured 50 accessories to help populate Boba Fett's Throne Room, from plates to various glasses to vases to unique decor. Hasbro used plastic accessories and three "bearskin" rugs from soft-goods materials for a mixed media feel. The individual accessories are stunning; some will look familiar because they were included in previous playsets. But obviously, there is mostly newness here as many are distinct to this scenery. Hasbro tooled an all-new dais. We were shocked by this fact. But we understand why they did. We took the gray dais from 2010's SW [SOTDS[ Jabba's Throne set and discovered it is thicker and broader than the new version, and it doesn't fit into the cavity or space Hasbro created in Boba Fett's Throne Room. With some finagling, you can make the old dais work in this environment, but when you set up this playset to be Return Of The Jedi-specific, you'll find that the newly created dais works equally well. An ornate throne chair fits into the center of the dais, and you can choose to have fat Bib Fortuna or fat Boba Fett sit in it as they rule the lair as required. Behind the throne room chair is a remarkably tooled grill. Hasbro gave us two meals as options here, including a grilled Kowakian monkey lizard (we hope it's not Salacious B. Crumb) or a less-identifiable roast. Hasbro also included removable flames for some interchangeability. It's a functioning grill with a working spit, so we should feel blessed that Hasbro took the detailing this far to make collectors happy.

The bonus here, of course, is the fat Bib Fortuna figure. Hasbro foolishly called it Bib Fortuna (Tatooine) as if that meant something, but we haven't seen this character outside of this planet, so it's a misnomer. The figure is fantastic, however. The legs look reused from an older Disney Star Wars Boba Fett figure, yet still different, so we're comfortable assessing the figure as all-new. We'll have to do more comparison for certainty. Bib Fortuna (Tatooine) has a very thick head, corpulent lekku, and a chubby body, especially the torso. We don't understand why Boba Fett and Bib Fortuna let themselves go as they did, but this is an exciting take on Jabba's former majordomo. The coloring is spectacular on Bib Fortuna. The figure has a colorful necklace around its neck, and Hasbro painstakingly colored each jewel a unique color, and it looks beautiful. The figure comes with standard articulation, but perhaps because of its size, it doesn't have fluid movement as we'd hoped, and its center of gravity is a mess. The figure comes with luxurious soft-goods materials. The outer robe is textured layered, and has a simple but beautiful pattern. The long skirt is brightly colored in teal and looks fitted around Bib Fortuna's chubby body. As a bonus but a necessary one, Hasbro recreated Bib Fortuna's staff, based on 1983's ROTJ Bib Fortuna figure, which the character didn't use in Episode VI. Boba Fett's Throne Room has an MSRP of $229.99; this is about $80.00 overpriced. We'd be much more comfortable paying $20 for the exclusive Bib Fortuna figure than $130 for everything else.
