Unpredictable rogue archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra is one of the galaxy's most daring treasure hunters. Despite questionable morals and equally bad judgment, her luck hasn't run out yet.

How long do we have to pretend Doctor Aphra is a popular and universally adored Star Wars character? Can we finally dispense of the smoke and mirrors? Regardless of your take on the controversial Doctor Aphra, Hasbro revamped previously existing tooling to produce a new version of the space archaeologist based on the character’s alternate appearance in the Doctor Aphra comics. The figure borrows a lot of parts from 2017’s TBS [P3] Jaina Solo (Legends) (56) figure. But for this release, it comes with an all-new portrait (based on the original Doctor Aphra tooling), a new hair piece, and a removable cap and goggles. The arms of Doctor Aphra are also new. They completed the effect for the removable trench coat shell, a new accessory here. Lastly, Hasbro included a single blaster pistol here, but two would have made the most sense. The paint operations are excellent and markedly improved what Hasbro accomplished on the first Doctor Aphra version. Generally speaking, the articulation system is a tad outdated, like the double hinge-jointed knees. However, this tooling shows off a beautiful female form, and it’s held up well over the years. Doctor Aphra comes in attractive packaging, a mock comic book that reflects the artwork of the published work. It’s a Fan Channel release part of the Publishing Program, and it seems to be gaining momentum amongst The Black Series line collectors. Doctor Aphra looks excellent and is a worthwhile addition to the line. But let’s not pretend she’s the new Boba Fett or something.
