The Wookiees are intelligent, fiercely loyal and exceedingly strong. When their peaceful home planet of Kashyyyk is enveloped by the Clone Wars, these ferocious warriors fight the Separatist incursion.
During the Revenge Of The Sith line, Hasbro just wasn’t forthcoming about running changes of figures. We got more than we bargained for with a few characters as we found them on the shelves without notice and it made collecting the line all that more fun. In particular, the Wookiee Warrior from the Revenge Of The Sith line came in two flavors at the same time: tan and brown. This review focuses on the tan version. In the final Star Wars film, fans waited with baited breath to see the “big” Battle of Kashyyyk that was supposedly to be a major sequence in Revenge Of The Sith. Although many scenes took place on Kashyyyk, they passed by our eyes very quickly and we never truly got the intended cut that was promised to us. Sometimes even the best scenes need to be cut due to time constraints, but we’re sure we can say that all of us would have liked to see the Wookiees in action a lot more than we did.
But in the short time we did see the Wookiees on their home planet we also saw multiple colors, shapes, heights and sizes, almost in the same manner as the Ewoks from Return Of The Jedi. But is it just us or did their seem to be a greater level homogeneity amongst Wookiees when compared to the Ewoks? Obviously we saw many different looking Wookiees on Kashyyyk, but their hair color is very similar from one Wookiee to the next. Ewoks could go from black to white to spotted to striped. Anyway. Hasbro started off the Revenge Of The Sith with a pretty good Wookiee Warrior (3 of 4) Sneak Preview figure. It was loaded with articulation and was without horrid action features. That trend didn’t last long. The Next Wookiee Warriors were released at the same time as (III 43). The tan Wookiee Warrior is a relative disappointment. It just isn’t up to snuff and has more issues than positives (in our eyes).
Wookiee Warrior [Tan] comes with 12 points of articulation, but it might as well come with a lot less because most of the articulation is rendered useless. An action feature is built into its hips to release “Wookiee Battle Bash” (whatever that means) and it perhaps the stupidest action feature we have ever seen. Hasbro would have served the collecting community much better by giving us a super-articulated Wookiee Warrior with premium articulation and incorporating the action feature into an accessory instead. (Or they should have just upgraded the figure’s articulation, included an environmental display base that looked like the terrain of Kashyyyk and made them Collection 2 figures instead.) As you can probably already tell, we aren’t too fond of this figure. It comes with cool accessories (we love the Wookiee shield) but we really need to see Hasbro give us a Wookiees that knocks it out of the park. But we don’t know when this will happen unfortunately. Please make it happen, Hasbro!
