Wookiee gunners defend the beaches of Wawaatt Archipelago on the coastal city of Kachirho against an amphibious Separatist assault. They fight bravely until the clone troopers turn against them.

Hasbro really took full advantage of the two primary “Wookiee Warrior” sculpts they created for the Revenge Of The Sith line. Both the Wookiee Warrior Sneak Preview (3 of 4) figure and the 2005 ROTS Wookiee Warrior (III 43) sculpt were utilized to make some even better Wookiee action figures at the tail end of the Revenge Of The Sith line. Affectionately called the Repack & Repaint waves, both wave 12 and wave 13 of the Revenge Of The Sith line was a way for Hasbro to quickly beat out “new” action figures without incurring tooling costs. By simply repainting some Wookiees released earlier in the line, Hasbro can bring more diversity to this species and help collectors build a believable army of Wookiee Warriors. The Wookiee Warrior Sneak Preview figure is one of the better “Wookiee” sculpts in the Revenge Of The Sith line. It isn’t plagued with action features and it has some decent articulation. Besides being a little too corpulent, it will hold as the “go to” Wookiee sculpt until Hasbro can bring us a definitive Wookiee Warrior one day.

The Wookiee Heavy Gunner is without a doubt one of the better Wookiees in the Revenge Of The Sith line. And we’re pretty confident that he is scene specific. We’re likely to believe that the Wookiee that swung down from some grappling cord (it wasn’t a vine, was it?) and jumped onto a Corporate Alliance Tank Droid and attached a detonator to it to disable it is the intended character Hasbro meant to recreate for collectors here. In fact, Wookiee Heavy Gunner comes with two detonators to help recreate the scene. (Editor’s Note: Hasbro has released the vehicle that this Wookiee attacked finally as 2009’s TCW Corporate Alliance Tank Droid vehicle.) This large and well dressed Wookiee has a great paint job and plenty of accessories to add some great play value for it. Besides the detonators, Wookiee Heavy Gunner comes with a crossbow (that fires a projectile), a grappling hook with cord and a soft goods tunic with a separate soft-goods belt. This Wookiee is loaded and ready for battle.

The paint job on Wookiee Heavy Gunner is exceptionally well done. He gets darker as you move out from his center. Mostly a golden blonde with gray highlights in his core, his extremities are much darker. This contrasting fur style is quite unique, but we think it matches the fur very closely to many of the Wookiees we saw in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. The paint job on his face is especially well done. Apparently a slightly aged Wookiee, there is quite a bit of gray in his face that gives this Wookiee extra character. We bet you’ll find favor with the Wookiee Heavy Gunner. He’s a lot of fun, comes with plenty of accessories and he weighs a ton. Hasbro took many missteps with the Wookiees in the Revenge Of The Sith line, but we feel they did a pretty good job on figures like the Wookiee Heavy Gunner. An all-new super-articulated version with thinner proportions would be the most ideal upgrade, but until that happens, this one is quite enjoyable. If you buy one Wookiee this year, make it the Wookiee Heavy Gunner.
