Equipped with specialized weaponry like the DC-17m rifle, special tactical visors, and Katarn-class body armor, the Republic Commandos can infiltrate the deepest, darkest reaches of the Separatist strongholds. The Clone Wars were won or lost, more often than not, due to the efforts of small, anonymous squads of Republic commandos, working behind the scenes and deep behind enemy lines to do what larger armies could not.
The Gentle Giant Ltd.. Republic Commando exclusive mini busts took the line to a whole new level. In particular, Gentle Giant changed their approach dramatically to ensure the most faithful recreations of these characters into collectible format. Specifically, Gentle Giant has clearly raised the bar on what they consider passing standards for sculpting, painting and even packaging. That being said, while Sev is a remarkable collectible, we think he may be the weakest of the four (but please don't interpret this as he is inferior). The paint decos have not slipped at all (in fact, he may have one of the best), but we are not entirely crazy about his pose. It looks equally cool as it does awkward because it hides his "personality" a bit since he looking down the barrel of a gun. While we think this works against him a little bit, he supersedes expectation by possessing a stunning paint job. His primarily white armor is colored with magenta trimming. And he seems to be the dirtiest of all the clone commandos. He looks like a great soldier and we bet Sev will split collectors on whether the pose of the mini bust is awesome or works against him.
Sev has got to be the Republic Commando with the most unique color flashes (when compared to his other Delta Squad team members). He has a "finger-like" pattern of his helmet which is a significant amount of detail since the other commandos have solid lines and what have you. On his shoulder is a device (it escapes us what it exactly is for at the moment) that is brilliantly painted to look like it is lit up and is colored in the same light blue as his visor. They complement each other magnificently well. Sections of his armor (on the back) are also colored in a bluish purple and his entire body is covered in scratches and score marks which are signs of the various battles in which he partook. While they are wear nearly identical armor, Sev's is chest/abdomen armor is dark and makes it look different from the others'. Of course it looks cool and gives us the impression that Sev may be more a free-thinker than the rest of the commandos. But whatever your opinion, we bet you will think this is a pretty darn cool mini bust to add into your collection.
Again, we think Sev lacks in his pose. We understand that Gentle Giant intended to pose his pointing his weapon, but it hides his "face" quite a bit. When posed with the other commandos, Sev suffers from looking as cool because of his design. Perhaps if his head wasn't posed looking down it would have aided in the aesthetic. Wookieepedia describes Sev as follows: RC-1207, also known as Delta-07 and Sev, was a clone commando and a sharpshooter in Delta Squad of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. He was often referred to by his nickname of Sev, especially by his squad mates, and was well known for his morbid sense of humor. Sev aided the Republic in a number of missions, fighting on planets such as Geonosis, Coruscant, Skuumaa, Mygeeto, Dorumaa, and finally Kashyyyk, where he went missing in action. Maybe this is why he has such a unique marking on his helmet. Maybe it means something more than it looks. Limited to 1300 pieces with only a small amount reserved for PGMs, Republic Commando Sev will be quite the chore to get into your collectors. Don't delay and get him into your collection today.
