Tasu Leech leads the notorious Kanjiklub gang, an intergalactic criminal organization.

Well. It seems with every awesome figure, there is one that is just going to disappoint. This is how we feel about Tasu Leech (Kanjiklub Gang Leader) in The Force Awakens Build A Weapon line. The sad thing is that he appears to have a fantastic sculpt. But once again, Hasbro opted to paint the flesh in a seemingly appropriate shade of skin tone, but what happens is all of the details get absorbed into the thick coat of the face “mask” and the figure ends up looking a whole lot less detailed than intended. We know this must sound a bit confusing, but when Hasbro paints the face in a flesh tone color, the final result makes the figure look like a porcelain doll (for lack of a better description). The finest of details disappear into this paint operation and sadly makes the figure look a whole deal less realistic than it should. Tasu Leech (Kanjiklub Gang Leader) should have been a figure we liked a whole lot more than we did. But that’s the nature of The Force Awakens line: it is sadly too much a hit or miss thing.

There is no doubt that Tasu Leech (Kanjiklub Gang Leader) has a great underlying sculpt. This is clearly evident from the neck down. It’s really just the head sculpt which is unfortunately affecting the overall aesthetics of the entire figure. If you compare the head sculpt to the actual actor from The Force Awakens, you’ll find that the resemblance isn’t that great. Tasu Leech (Kanjiklub Gang Leader) (the character in the film) has significant skin damage (or older skin with rough patches and pock marks), while the action figure has a skin texture smoother than a baby’s bottom. Because the action figure looks like a younger version of the actual character, or perhaps even the character’s son, we imagine that you too will be disappointed with the final production figure. What is so frustrating about this is that it seemingly is all here. If Hasbro cast the figure’s face in the color plastic they wanted to achieve for the face, WE KNOW this figure would have looked a whole heck of a lot better. This is a “close but no cigar” situation.

Customizers should be quite adept at fixing this figure’s aggravating setback. But the common collector may just have to remain stuck with the way this figure has been done. We do give Hasbro full credit on the attempt made to the head sculpt, we just would love to know how much improved it would be had they approached it the way we suggested. That being said, there is no way we can discount the sculpt of the rest of the figure. It is near perfection despite the minimal articulation. We are however struggling with the figure’s height. We’re sure that Hasbro has access to reference materials that we don’t, but with the recent inconsistency in the heights of Princess Leia figures in The Black Series 6” line, we have some reservations if Tasu Leech (Kanjiklub Gang Leader) possesses an accurate height. In our gallery, we included one member from each gang (in that utterly coincidental and royally confusing scene in The Force Awakens). As you can see, the Guavian Enforcer is significantly taller than Tasu Leech (Kanjiklub Gang Leader). This figure has great potential, but ultimately we have to be honest and say we’re a bit disappointed.
