As a General in the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi leads clone troopers into battle against the droid armies. He uses his skill as a Jedi Master and his control of the Force to defeat the deadly battle droids.

Wow. It seems that every new line look gets riddled with one of the worst action figures Hasbro can produce. It almost seems like each successive one can’t get any worse. And then it does. We’re talking about the Obi-Wan Kenobi Deluxe figure from the Revenge Of The Sith line. In principal this could have been a great release. But it appears that Hasbro goes significantly out of their way to destroy the aesthetics of what should be a pretty awesome action figure pairing. As you know, Obi-Wan Kenobi is paired with a B2 Super Battle Droid. The Super Battle Droid really functions as an accessory here. It comes with an action feature when the lower portion split off from the rest of the figure and the figure comes with minimal articulation. The sculpt however is stunning, and it could have been one of the greatest Super Battle Droid figures Hasbro has ever given us. So why couldn’t they have gone the extra mile and made the Super Battle Droid fully articulated? Perhaps this would have been more forgiving if they didn’t destroy Obi-Wan Kenobi. Let’s talk more about him.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is literally the worst figure in the Revenge Of The Sith line. He doesn’t have that bad of a head sculpt at all, but the rest of the figure is a nightmare. He comes with ball-jointed shoulders which on any other day would have been a tremendous benefit. But they’re movement is attached to system that incorporate the hips, knees and ankles that are all connected to a metal pin that goes up his butt. We’re not kidding folks. Obi-Wan Kenobi is literally a puppet and he looks ridiculous. When you press down on the figure, the hips, knees and ankles bend (crouch down) to swing his arms (to recreate lightsaber swinging actions). It is pitiful at best. Also, the lightsaber is fully lit and permanently attached to his right hand. Thankfully, Hasbro gave the figure swivel wrists so you can bend the angle of the lightsaber for some less obtuse posing options. But overall this figure completely disappoints and will surely turn off collectors. Kids may enjoy the play feature here, but we even believe that they’ll get frustrated with the limited movement of the figures included here.

Officially labeled as “Force Jump Attack,” our sample appears to not work in the way that Hasbro had intended. You’re supposed to be able to press down the figure, immediately release, and then the figure jumps to knock down the included Super Battle Droid. We think the action feature is weak at best and doesn’t function the way it should. Your mileage may vary. Again, we find the Obi-Wan Kenobi Deluxe figure set annoyingly frustrating. These could have been better designed figure to give collectors different takes on these well-known characters. Honestly, the Super-Battle Droid sculpt is stunning. It’s a terrible shame that Hasbro didn’t just tool a complete figure here instead of approaching it as an accessory for the play feature installed into Obi-Wan Kenobi. Collectors do need to keep in mind that the Revenge Of The Sith Deluxe line is designed for kids. This is not a line for collectors. But when it comes to this Obi-Wan Kenobi set, we don’t think that either kids or collectors will find much favor in this set. Either way, you do get a lot of “stuff” for less than $10. You’ll have to decide if it’s worth it for you.
