Boba Fett is a legendary and mysterious bounty hunter who hides his identity and his past. He tracks down the Millennium Falcon and captures Han Solo, bringing the carbonite-frozen Rebel hero to Jabba the Hutt, who has put a bounty out on Han.

It goes without saying that the Collectible Figure And Cup line has been moderate to satisfying success for Hasbro. Things became a little disorganized in 2004, and the next wave of three sets was intended for The Original Trilogy Collection. These sets included Boba Fett, Han Solo, and Yoda. Collectors wondered if they’d ever see them. Sadly, those three Collectible Figure And Cup sets were canceled but then worked into the Revenge Of The Sith line as wave 2. While collectors were thrilled that these TARGET exclusives would be made available, the classic vintage Kenner inspired packaging was abandoned in favor of the new and colorful Revenge Of The Sith line look. There is something remarkably special about classic Original Trilogy figures in black and silver product packaging. As briefly mentioned, Boba Fett is one of the canceled sets. Courtesy of Rebelscum.com, you can see the front of the original cancelled release HERE and the back of the original canceled release HERE.

It’s now common knowledge that Hasbro did not pair their greatest action figures in the Collectible Figure And Cup line. Boba Fett is no exception either. What’s more interesting about Boba Fett is that Hasbro utilized the “error” version of the figure, the one with the light blue jumpsuit. This was changed to a mint green color in the Star Wars “Saga” [Phase II] line. And both colors were also available in the Star Wars “Saga” [Phase III] line. So, it makes sense that it was a potluck of which version we received in the Revenge Of The Sith line. Original released as 2003’s SW [S - P2] Boba Fett (The Pit Of Carkoon) (’03 #08) figure (as well as 2003’s SW [S - P3] Boba Fett (The Pit Of Carkoon) (’03 #08) figure), Hasbro took away most of the accessories from the original release, paired it with a beautifully decorated drinking cup and released it as a TARGET exclusive with an MSRP of $9.99. Visually, this is one of the most attractive sets in the entire line. Functionally, the cup "works" perfectly, while the action figure of Boba Fett is not too collector friendly.

Boba Fett (The Pit Of Carkoon) does have a few redeeming qualities, and we’ll address them all, but you may walk away from this action figure thinking why Hasbro would approach the figure the way they did. With a nice amount of articulation and a single accessory, Boba Fett can be described as adequate at best. Perhaps the whole point of this figure’s re-release. Without all of the original accessories, Boba Fett feels incomplete. So he won’t looks good as a display piece on the shelf. There is no flame display stand. There are no blast effects. And he still comes with the wonky action features that destroy the aesthetics of what could be a better action figure. Again, Boba Fett isn’t without merit. His helmet is in perfect proportion to his body and even his arms, which are ridden with action features by the way, and fits in well with the rest of sculpting. He is decently articulated too. But other than that, you’re likely buying this exclusive release for the awesome cup inside of the package. It’s beautiful and displays key scenes from the Battle Of Carkoon. For that alone, we recommend this product.
