Disguised as the bounty hunter Boushh, Leia infiltrated Jabba's palace as part of a small rescue team to free Han Solo. Leia was captured and forced to endure the status of Jabba's slave until the opportunity to escape presented itself.

There probably aren’t many of us that could forget the impact 1997's Princess Leia Organa (As Jabba's Prisoner) had on the Star Wars line. The figure created anticipation and excitement for the line like never done previously. It produced a tremendously upgraded version of the character by focusing on realism and screen-accuracy over supernatural features. No matter your feelings on Princess Leia Organa (As Jabba's Prisoner), it's a landmark figure and it quickly became one of Kenner/Hasbro’s best-selling figures of all time. That isn’t an exaggeration either. By the end of the 1997 calendar year, Princess Leia Organa (As Jabba’s Prisoner) was topping the critics’ polls of multiple action figures/collecting magazines and websites. And it was all for a good reason. Kenner created a feminine and arguable sexy version of Princess Leia that we have wanted since the dawn of time. And they ensured that they got plenty out there to meet the outrageous demand she commanded. Although unable to get the figure in a seated position next to Jabba The Hutt, Princess Leia Organa (As Jabba’s Prisoner) is nonetheless one of the finest figures in their catalog. Although originally released for The Power Of The Force “2” [Red/Green] line, the popularity of the action figure necessitated a re-release in the Freeze Frame Action Slide of the POTF2 lineup. The re-released figure comes with a few differences too.

As far as the action figure’s changes are concerned, the 1998 version of Princess Leia Organa (As Jabba’s Prisoner) comes with a newly brightened color scheme. The 1997 version comes with bronze “metal” parts of the bikini that are darker, and almost caramel in color. Now, those same metal parts glisten like gold. You’ll also find slight differences in the figure’s skin tone. The first version comes with a skin color with an orange hue to it, while the 1998 version comes with lighter skin. We’re not sure which version is rarer than the other, but both appear to exist plentifully on the aftermarket. Princess Leia Organa (As Jabba’s Prisoner) comes with six points of articulation. Lightly accessorized, the removable chain is still a nice feature nonetheless here. It wraps around her neck as needed, yet has flexibility so you can have another action figure utilize it, or have her choke Jabba the Hutt with it. The choices are yours. The sculpting is quite nice. Princess Leia Organa (As Jabba's Prisoner) may not have what most consider a “beautiful” face as Carrie Fisher did in the film. Still, Hasbro made vast improvements to the character’s likeness that didn’t come close with the very first “monkey face” Princess Leia Organa action figure from 1995. The figure has delicately sculpted arms, and the accouterments on the body like arm bracelets and jewelry are faithfully represented here.

Now that Princess Leia Organa (As Jabba's Prisoner) is part of The Kenner Collection Freeze Frame Action Slide line, collector have something extra special to acquire for their collections. This figure now comes with a real functioning film slide featuring the unforgettable moments when Princess Leia Organa is seated on Jabba’s dais alongside C-3PO and Bib Fortuna, and Jabba’s annoying pet monkey-lizard Salacious B. Crumb. The Freeze Frame Action Slide pack-ins are an excellent thing to collect, and it’s forcing collectors to repurchase some of Kenner/Hasbro’s oldest action figures in the hopes of securing a complete set of slides. Princess Leia Organa (As Jabba's Prisoner) is a fantastic figure regardless. Because the 1998 version of her comes with a revised paint job, it’s worth considering to buy the action figure once again. You may also be interested to learn that Kenner/Hasbro updated the bio information on these figures for the Freeze Frame Action Slide lineup. Instead of a large photo with a statistical box of information floating inside of it, the new approach is a large cut-out image on the back with a short sentence of what’s happening in the scene via a text box. The image seen in the box is the same image reflected in the Freeze Frame Action Slide. We’re happy to see Princess Leia Organa (As Jabba's Prisoner) released once again in the basic figure line.
