Darth Vader takes on Obi-Wan Kenobi in a final duel on a planet of erupting volcanos! Vader, who was once the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, has turned to the dark side and now fights on the side of evil against his former Master. Vader and Obi-Wan meet in a climactic confrontation and fight to the finish while dodging blasts from a volcano and overcoming dangerous obstacles! Re-create this ultimate battle that decides the fate of the galaxy for the next generation!

There were quite a few surprises released in the Revenge Of The Sith line, and the Mustafar Final Duel Playset was one of them. It's not often Star Wars collectors receive playsets to interact with their action figures. But Hasbro went all out (and big) in 2005 and produced a relatively fun playset based on events that transpire in the climax of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. Not all of the features of the Mustafar Final Duel Playset are screen-accurate. But there's enough detail, features, and interactivity here to make it worthwhile for any young Star Wars fan, or aged collector to enjoy. The focal point of the Mustafar Final Duel Playset is the central volcano, which Hasbro incorporate to look like where the Separatists congregated before Darth Vader executed them all. And as you travel up the playset, you'll also find a lava pit and the apex of the volcano, which contains two meatballs magma balls. For us, the most impressive and beautiful part of the Mustafar Final Duel Playset is the arms and fins (which look like some Mustafarian weather vanes). There's a short catwalk where they attached where you can pose the included Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader battling each other in their final confrontation in the Prequel Trilogy. While the Mustafar Final Duel Playset has its share of inaccuracies, overall, we feel that collectors will find enjoyment here.

There are many features to the Mustafar Final Duel Playset. The meatballs magma balls go into the mouth of the volcano. Then there is a lever that allows you to "flick" them out like they're exploding. There is also a rotating display stand that has a base of fire, and then two platform discs where you place the included Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader figures on as we see in the film. Both discs rotate, and then the fire attachment that they sit on also turns. You can also place the pack-in figures on the catwalk arms. They stay on tightly, but also break off easily to recreate the scenes of them breaking down in the hot lava. Also, Hasbro included two rappel lines with "handcuffs" clips on them, which allow you to connect the rappel lines to the catwalk, as well as the wrists of the action figures. Lastly, you can place the Darth Vader figure down the lava "slide" into a pit of lava. The pit lid flips over, revealing Darth Vader's hand reaching out from the lava. There are other complementary features to the Mustafar Final Duel Playset. You can attach all of the Revenge Of The Sith Battle Arenas to the front of this playset, but none of the three that Hasbro produced are Mustafar-specific and inspired from scenes on other planets. Also not screen-accurate, but an option here is that you can attach 2005's ROTS Darth Vader Deluxe figure here (to the back) as well.

The pack-in figures of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader are not fantastic here, but they do offer scene=specific poses and interact well together in dioramic setup within this playset. Both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader each come with six points of articulation, including a swivel head, two swivel shoulders, a swivel waist, and two swivel hips. Each figure comes with its respective blue lightsaber as well. There aren't any footpegs in the playset, and the figures don't have a proper center of gravity. Likewise, many of the places where you pose these action figures on the Mustafar Final Duel Playset are hampered by gravity, and it becomes problematic. The figures want to fall off because there is a lack of balance. Still, with a little patience, you can make it work and develop some exciting scenes with the figures and the playset. Retailing for $29.99, you do get quite a value for your dollar here. Two pack-in figures and a large playset for thirty bucks is a deal no matter how you slice it. At the same time, we would have loved to see Hasbro strive for more screen-accuracy. They did a lot here, but we think they could have done a little more. Hasbro produced MANY action figures that you can populate with this playset. Mustafar Sentry (III 56), Passel Argente (III 61), Cat Miin (III 62), and Neimoidian Warrior (III 42) and Neimoidian Commander (III 63) are all fantastic choices.
