Sabine Wren was a Mandalorian warrior, explosives expert, and talented graffiti artist – qualities that came in handy as one of the first to rebel against the Empire.

2016’s The Black Series [Phase III] Sabine Wren (33) figure was one of the most anticipated in years from Hasbro. Many of us overlooked the figure’s shortcomings because Hasbro did a fantastic job on their first attempt. Now that Sabine Wren is part of the new line look, The Black Series [Phase IV], Hasbro took the opportunity to update the figure wherever possible to enhance the tooling from 2016. Yes, Sabine Wren received Photo Real facial updates, but Hasbro improved the coloring of the character’s costume from head to toe. While some of the changes are subtle, others aren’t. You’ll notice a difference in the color of the figure’s pants. And generally speaking, the figure received an all-new paint job, including most of the outfit, and especially the figure’s hair. We’ve provided a side-by-side comparison to inspect the differences for yourself, so please take time and see the analysis. Most importantly, Hasbro nailed the character’s skin color beautifully. The first Sabine Wren was too pale, but this time the figure comes with an olive-skinned complexion that is much more accurate than the on-screen character. The easiest way to rate the revised Sabine Wren 6” figure is that it’s a tremendous upgrade from the original release! We’ll guarantee that to you!

As you know, Hasbro based Sabine Wren off of the Season 1 appearance in Star Wars Rebels. If Hasbro pays attention, they should release a Season2/Season 3 version of the character to make collectors very happy. The colors are spectacular and beautifully applied. Everything is here and in place, but enhanced this time around. The costume has a checkerboard right shoulder, and there is a Rebel Alliance symbol on the left breast. There is a Star Wars creature on the left shoulder armor. And there is a wonderful speckled pattern on the boots and gauntlets to show the collection of spray paint residue collected on them from the graffiti the character sees as artwork. Overall, the paint operations are astounding. We loved them on the first issue of the figure, but now they’re better than ever. Every detail is clean and neat, and we’re thrilled that the figure looks this incredible. What’s more, Hasbro gave Sabine Wren a removable helmet. It’s still a little snug, unfortunately, but it keeps its shape beautifully over the head. It fits like a glove and completes the outfit perfectly. The detail on this accessory is beautiful too. Sabine Wren also comes with two Mandalorian blasters that fit into the holsters on the belt, and Hasbro painted them nicely too. Lastly, Sabine Wren comes with the signature spray gun, although we don’t know how much paint can fit inside it.

Hasbro tooled a lean and athletic body for Sabine Wren, and the figure has an athletic silhouette. The articulation system is functional too. Hasbro didn’t work any extra or special articulation into Sabine Wren, but they used the standard articulation system that they’ve used since the beginning of the 6” line, and it works just as well here. Sabine Wren can crouch, run, stand at attention, or draw the blasters. The figure looks flawless, no matter how you pose it. Sabine Wren looks great with or without the removable Mandalorian helmet too. With enhanced paint operations, we imagine collectors will want to show off what Hasbro accomplished so beautifully here for the updated release. Sabine Wren’s hair is nicely sculpted and painted, and the style is quite different from the 2016 version of the figure. As you can see from our photo gallery, Sabine Wren is eye-catching, beautiful, and one of the most excellent examples of what Hasbro can do in 6” scale. We would love to see this figure reduced down into the super-articulated 3.75” The Vintage Collection line one day because a figure approaching like this would be amazing on a smaller scale. Trust us when we say that Sabine Wren is going to be popular. Lastly, we dig the new packaging style. Hasbro added many gray elements into the new design, and everything is brought together by source with color-coding.
