X-Wing Fighter/Luke Skywalker - Mission Fleet (Vehicles)

The Mission Fleet line continues with a range of “vehicles and figure” sets. We find it particularly interesting that none of them are based on the Sequel Trilogy. You’ll find most of the vehicles are from the Original Trilogy like the X-Wing Fighter/Luke Skywalker set. Based on Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Hasbro put together a half-realistic/half-animated interpretation set of vehicle and figure at 2” scale, based on what we saw during the Battle of Yavin. The miniaturized X-Wing Fighter is excellent. Hasbro did a fantastic job of making it to scale with the Mission Fleet 2” figures. The four cannons are removable. And the X-Wing Fighter comes with an opening canopy with plenty of room to place the Luke Skywalker figure. Hasbro also added a swiveling dome of R2-D2 to complete the vehicle’s on-screen appearance. Surprisingly, Hasbro added an articulated landing skid under the nose of the vehicle. We didn’t expect that addition, but it’s nice to have it here. The s-foils also stay locked in flight mode until you decide to collapse them again. The included Luke Skywalker figure is screen-accurate to the on-screen character. Hasbro ensured they gave the figure black gloves and boots as the character wore in A New Hope. For accessories, Luke Skywalker comes with a lightsaber and a DL-44 blaster pistol. Sadly, Hasbro brought back “banana” goggles, and that’s the permanent look of the figure since they’re not removable. The X-Wing Fighter/Luke Skywalker set retails for $19.99, and we feel it has more value than a 6” figure. But that’s an opinion you’ll have to decide for yourself.
